The money is just to good top pass up for them. The 1st fight was close and it made a ton of money. The 2nd one will be even closer than the 1st, and with Mayweather sr in oscars corner the drama/promotion machine will match or top the 1st fight.
If this rematch is a really really close fight the decision will go to Oscar. This will set up a HUGE MEGA Trilogy finale that will shatter the PPV record set by the 2nd fight(Yes i believe the rematch will top the 1st fight due to May Sr and a more aggressive promotion)
Oscar and Floyd will make ton's and tons' of money in this trilogy.
i don't think even the hard core boxing fans will support a second fight. Terrible move on both sides if this fight happens and I think would be bad for boxing.
There will be no trilogy, we're not even sure there's going to be a 2nd fight.
Are you fucking serious. It is so obvious that Mayweather is going to take a dive. Are you fucking retarded? Mayweather takes a dive in five. That's the only reaon they're making this fight. Third fight coming...
Stop with the Bull-Shit!! If all De La Hoya had to do to win was throw the jab, then he would have! He stopped throwing the jab b/c he didn't like getting COUNTERED BY STR8 RIGHT HANDS (particularly to the body). An experienced future HOFer doesn't just abandon his game plan & say some ish like "I don't know why i stopped throwing the jab, i guess it wasn't the night for the jab" That's B-S!! He knows the real reason why; he's just not going to come out & give Mayweather his props after Floyd belittled him all thru the promotion of the fight & pretty much got out-boxed his much smaller foe...
If it is a rematch it will prob be the same thing with only Floyd winning more convincingly this time!
i really dont mind, i do think oscar has a chance after meeting floyd already,
he knows what he needs to do, and he was the closest one to get to floyd,
if he concentrates on his jab he will be ok
How a Floyd fan could defend this decision is beyond me! This is a "money" fight, and a "money fight" only! This does absolutely NOTHING for us fans. Floyd is the so-called WW champ, so why not defend that title? The WW division is the HOTTEST division in boxing right now, yet Floyd wants to rematch Oscar! Fking pathetic!.
What was the overall reaction to the fight? From a casual fan is where I'm asking. Because the fight wasn't that bad.
I think that a lot of people were disappointed in Oscar's performance. From what I saw from people I know, a lot of casual fans simply did not expect ODLH to lose. Floyd did what he had to do to take it on points, but the fight didn't come close to meeting the expectations set by the huge promotion. If you were a Floyd fan, then the fight wasn't bad, because Floyd did what he generally does. If you were an Oscar fan, you had to be hugely disappointed by the way he fought, especially down the stretch.
I don't think that the rematch will do as well, simply because there will be so much written prior to the fight talking about how much of a bust the first fight was compared to its promotion. Sixty bucks is a lot of money for a fight, especially for one that holds little promise of sustained back-and-forth drama.
... Real boxing fans know that Oscar can't beat Floyd. ...
I'm a real boxing fan and Floyd didn't come close to convincing me that ODLH can't beat him.
The casual fan got burned by their first fight and won't pay for a second...
i agree with that... BUT if they do bring in Senior....to train oscar... and all the commercials for the fight just show senior saying "the difference is, i taught him everything he knows... and i know how to beat him" that could lure fans back into it... for different reasons... but sometimes the student is taught so well, he becomes better than the teacher... and in this instance, floyd was taught so welll... he has the answer to all questions... and i just dont think oscars 1 fight a year mentality has it in him to pull it out...
in a nutshell... if the fights at 147... itll be more entertaining... but id rather see floydvs cotto.... but id also rather see floyd fight period, then taking a 2yr vacation

You really think its gonna make as much money? I mean I don't think it would get as many buys as the first, and most people already know what type of fight its gonna be.
With Sr. involved now, I do. He's going to be trying to convince the world only HE has the recipe to beat Floyd Jr. Real boxing fans know that Oscar can't beat Floyd. However, so much drama makes for good numbers.
1. Floyd Sr. vs. Floyd Jr.
2. Roger vs. Floyd Sr.
3. The "Goldie" Scandal
That is a lot of drama. It sells.
i know i know ur right. i just dont see how anybody can get excited about this.
IF THE FIGHT HAPPENS.... i believe sincerely, this time pbf will have more control... and that will include fighting at 147 for floyds belt... which only makes sense... and i think it would be MUCH more entertaining, as far as floyd being more offensively dominant, against a 147 pound oscar rather than a 154 pound oscar...
I totally understand the boxing guru not wanting to see this fight again... as id rather see cotto or pwill at this point... but it the guys gonna make 25 million... i mean... id do the same thing again too lol
I have serious doubts that the rematch will surpass the first fight's numbers, but who knows? Mayweather is a bigger star than he was going into the first fight and Oscar, love him or hate him, is still the biggest draw in the sport. I'm going to puke if they even come close to implying that the rematch is somehow going to save the sport. Based on the first fight, I believe that ODLH can win a rematch if he can just manage to stay focused and throw a jab for 12 rds.

who is that girl on your avatar..... damn she is so pretty and hot :luvbed:
btw, i think im one of the few that is excited on a rematch on oscar - floyd xD.
i mean i dont like that the fight is done based on money, but what i like is that the promotion to the fight is so big, the event is so big that its almost impossible not to get hype up by it xD. also, if someone beats floyd, i would be very happy that it was oscar. :boxing:
btw, i liked the first fight.. xD
what i wanna see, is since floyd beat oscar, and floyds the one with the belt, i wanna see oscar drop down to 147 and fight floyd for his belt... i think floyd will be less gunshy with a 147 oscar in front of him rather than a 154 fighter in front of him
You could be on to something, maybe. I hope you're right.

really, can't see a trilogy happening. I really get annoyed that Golden Boy gets another shot at Mayweather. He hasn't proven much recently, he's a damn promoter. Stay in your promoter suit, hell I hope they fight in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl and Mayweather knocks DLH out in front of all his family, friends and fans. Then when he comes back to consciousness, he will cry in the press conference and say he retires.
