This is an appreciation / bandwagon thread for one of the greatest fighters of this era, Glen Johnson.
Some might remember an undefeated, up and coming Glen Johnson demolished by Bernard Hopkins in his first title try but still showing toughness, even in loss.
After that loss he fought all top competition and lost split and majority decisions to hometown fighters but never quit trying, even though most would have.
When he finally beat Woods, knocked out Roy Jones and decisioned Antonio Tarver, all during the same year, he was nominated the fighter of the year 2004. It was a great year for Glen Johnson and he will always be remembered for that.
He overcame all the politics, won the world title and became the number 1 light heavyweight in the world.
Since then he has dropped close decisions to both Tarver and Woods but recently resurrected his career with a stoppage win over Montell Griffin. Now, Glen Johnson will be fighting one of the potential future stars, the WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson.
The odds are stacked against Glen but will he once again be able to overcome those odds, just like he has for his whole career.

All aboard the Glen Johnson bandwagon.

Johnson will KO Dawson in nine.
I'm taking bets on Dawson to decision Johnson. If anyone has some points to spend on a bet, I'll take them.
Okay I might take a bet on Johnson to beat Dawson but only for 1k or 2k because I don't want to spend all my points on that.
Count me as a fan...the man is a fighter's fighter.
And may Sad Chad get his ass knocked out his next fight, which if his opponent was Glen, would be called a draw.
8-4 Johnson that is all I have to say to you
thats how i had it, both times i scored it, any way you slice it, johnson won, i cannot see how people defend dawson. it's the hopkins taylor bit all over again..................blah........bad for boxing, yet again.
You win by landing punches not punching the opponents gloves like Dawson was doing, I'm sorry but you're wrong. How did Dawson box him around if the majority of the time he was punching at glens gloves... ???
yeah, and Dawson landed PLENTY all throughout the fight... just because he himself took some punishment from Johnson during the fight, doesn't mean he didn't dish it out too..
Glen Johnson is just a freight train of a guy that simply doesn't get knocked down..
it was a close fight, in no way a 'robbery' (such an overused word), and the right boxer won in my opinion..
i'm sorry.. glen's a fighter that can take a serious punch and is aggressive.. Dawson boxed him around.. it was a close fight, but Chad won.. over.. next.

I don't understand why some idiots on this website think Dawson won when he clearly was using Glen Johnsons gloves as a punching bag. Because thats where the majority of Dawsons punches landed.
Glen Johnson is a very underated fighter i think he can mention himself up there amongst the best when u consider who he has beaten and the debatable decisions hes had go against him ,i always thought he was just a crude tough fighter with a lot of determination but i think he is more than that to his game & he showed it against Chad Dawson at the age or 39 props to the road warrior :fing02:
im still a big Dawson fan i still like what i see from him ,he needs to learn from that fight and become even stronger it was a good test for Bad Chad IMO ,and he passed albiet thier were a few scares along the way
Agreed, Glen Johnson is tough as nails. I'd be very surprised if Dawson manages to stop him even though Glen is getting old.
If Dawson stops Johnson he should get all the credit in the world, he would definitely be a legit threat in the LHW division to anyone.
Honestly, I see a decision going Dawson's way but not without a fight. Johnson will definitely test Dawson's toughness.
Glen Johnson fought a great fight.
He did not get the decision but he fought well and proved many people wrong.
A shame how he felt about the fight and the judges decision. I can definitely understand, he has had many close ones go the other way.
Chad Dawson did impress me, he might have a shaky chin but he has the heart to back it up. He will be hard to beat as long as he sticks to boxing and forgets about brawling.
man are you serious? You know quite a bit but im surprised you think he's gonna get killed by him. Johnson won't get hurt once, and he'll definetely win a few rounds. Ain't nobody knocking out or killing johnson if even a prime hopkins couldnt. (johnson was stopped but wasn't hurt)
If you keep Johnson at medium range at the end of punches, he is completely nullified. Johnson has been keeping busy by facing fighters older than even he is. Montell Griffin, Pineda, these guys are done. Johnson was trying to fight Reggie Johnson for Pete's sake. Johnson turned down younger contenders like Shaun George because Warrior's Boxing wants to get him a big payday and then cash him out.
