Would Joe Calzaghe have the same status he does now?
Im just curious... I wont even state my obvious opinion
and also... what if he never left 160? would bernard of had his 20 defenses?
nobody asked you, prick.
What the hell is going on? I dont come on the site for a while and when i get back on Reed has calzaghe on his avi n sig?? Im confused.....
Joe fans really do give Calzaghe an even worse rep than he already has.
Seriouslyi cant beleive Calzaghe fans feel bragging a win over "lacy" is something big.
No- but people who link to websites like
castefootball.us
are. Of course you love his opinions. Rock on.
You aren't racist. You are a biased asshole.
What?
You have Corrales in your avy. I assume that means you beat your wife.
Wait, i thought i was a racist? lol You're so blinded with rage that you cant keep track of who you've accused of what. Funny shit. :lol1:

Thanks for that. Nice job editing out the parts that showed Jones' years of unwillingness to entertain the thought of the fight and ignoring the part about him demanding $10m
I'm surprised that 59 people have voted for Calzaghe to beat Roy...
I don't think they would've ever fought though even if they were in the same division.
It would've been like the Michalczewski - Jones situation (or Ottke-Calzaghe) in which neither fighter wanted to leave their home country to fight the other guy.
Well, the last one is untrue as they offered to fight Ottke in Germany. They would have had to knock him out to get a SD of course.
Anyway, it's an irrelevant argument. They simply weren't in the same circles at their relative peaks.
Let us all make a pact right now that we will never let this thread die. Ever.

I wouldn't favour any of them over Jones but I've said before that I only rank boxers based on what actually happened in the ring, not what could have happened in the ring...
It's why you see Ike Ibeabuchi, Vitali Klitschko and Riddick Bowe in some people's top 10 HW rankings.
Fact is that Roy Jones lost twice to the best fighter he fought in the LHW division, Antonio Tarver.
Griffin, Hill, Harding, Gonzales, Woods, even the one Tarver win put him in consideration but I simply would not rank him top 5/top 3 like many others do.
That's fine, and I completely see where you're coming from when it comes to placing him in the books...
I was just curious if you thought any of those fighters would have actually beat Roy, had they ever stepped in the ring.
You know I always respect your opinion on here. :fing02:
i understand ur perspective on not ranking roy as high as he should be based on some fights that never took place...
but on a strictly yes/no question....
Do you think there was any fighter at SMW or LHW, while Roy was in the division.. that would actually have truly ebaten him at the time>?
I understand the thought that there were excellent fighters in the division like Benn, MClellan, Eubank, Calzaghe.. DM.
But if you were placing odds on each one of these fights... would you favor Roy over all of them realistically?

IronFist! and Tunney are both Tunney...
Sweet Pea 50 stole Tunney's name for a while but he has changed it back now.
