Bait thread: Will Mayweather stop Cotto?

No I don't think PBF will stop Cotto beat Cotto of course. Yes PBF can stop Cotto. I think PBF will have Cotto very drained and weak by the end of the fight. I want see if Cotto can take body shots. PBF doesn't neccessarily attack the body but he is constantly hitting a person to the body when they are not expecting it and I think that is why his body work is underrated but very effective. It will be interesting to see how Cotto handles PBF accurate head punches and being hit in the body when its not expected.

I hope so... that would mean a good fight.

Cotto took Mosley's best shots and there is nobody here that can argue that Mayweather hits harder than Mosley at 147. Nope, Mayweather might pot-shot him all night and get a few clean shots in, but he will not do enought to stop Miguel. Floyd just doesn't have that much power and he won't commit to his punches because he knows Cotto can hurt him.

there's no way that cotto's stopped by mayweather, not happening. if the fight gets made now, like '08, i see cotto losing a closely contested matchup in which mayweather shows us why hes held in such esteem. if however, cotto fights gomez, winner of margs / cint and another - and the floyd fight comes off in 09, i got cotto by stoppage win.

LOL. Floyd TKO's Hatton, and now all of a sudden, his fanboys are making him out to be Tyson reborn! LOL. Floyd hit Gatti with about 50 clean shots to the face and couldnt drop him. Floyd couldnt even drop the chinny Judah. Cotto took powerfull shots from Torres and didnt go down. If u rewatch that fight, Torres pulled Cotto by the back of the neck and pulled him down, but the ref called it a KD. Floyd doesnt have power. He relies on accuracy. He might be able to catch Cotto with alot of clean shots, but he is NOT stopping Cotto.

Floyd could knock him out. It isnt out of the question. He could pot shot Cotto for about 7-8 rounds and then open up on him later. He caught a smaller Ricky with a perfect shot, and Cotto has been hurt before. Cotto would HAVE to come to Floyd, and this makes him easier to hit.

Many have tried. Many failed. I don't think Mayweather can stop Cotto. The dude has taken flush shots to the chin and still walks. I don't think Mayweather has that Judah, Mosley, Torres power.

But Mosley is not half the fighter Floyd is, especially defensively. He gets hit a lot and has a tendency to get wreckless on offense. TRUTH! He fights more aggressively for sure!

I think it'll might look like Mayweather Castillo 2, but with Cotto more competetive, but not as competetive as Mayweather Castillo 1.

to be honest with you, i have only seen highlights of cotto's last two fights, but he does not have the best chin so it is possible mayweather could stop him, however the fight I think will look more like Judah/Mayweather.

Primal, it's pretty simple. mayweather fans have more confidence in their man than floyd has in himself. it's kinda like the pretty girl who looks in the mirror and sees herself overweight or ugly, yet she is much more attractive than she realizes. Floyd has a similar complex. He acts like he's all great, overeggagerates his confidence, when true supreme confidence doesn't have to blow their own trumpets like that. And the sheeple peeple see floyd act that way and are not wise enough to know what floyd is doing - covering up his own insecurity. floyd is duping a segment of the public. floyd does not have the confidence to take on Cotto, he would rather do anything than fight Cotto. he will even opt to retire rather than fight Cotto. Cotto's confidence has spooked floyd. but floyd's fans don't knwo what the hell is going on. Is that why Floyd cancelled the Hatton fight when Hatton said, "My heart will explode before I lose this fight"? If that isn't confidence, then I don't know what is. Cotto left his suspect chin behind at 140 so right now I have to lean towards NO. After watching Cotto take bombs from Judah and Mosley I am convinced that he has a pretty good chin at 147. Cotto is susceptible to right hand counters and Floyd has the best right hand counter in the game, Cotto is gonna take a lot of punishment and he could possibly be stopped on cuts, but I don't see him being KO'd. My prediction is Floyd by UD 116-112 or 115-113

All the peeps here that are saying Floyd hands down...why don't you guys tell your boy to sign the contract and give the fans what we really want instead of talking bs about going over to MMA and producing music videos...I remember a guy that went to the music scene not too long ago because he got bored eith the sport and has yet to win a significant fight and he goes by the name of Oscar de la Hoya. You guy might as well tell Money May to fight while he's still in his prime because once he's past that he'll never be the same fighter.

If Cotto boxes with Mayweather it will be even worse for him. Why is Cotto using his Jab and not coming in like Hatton did bad? People say DLH should've used his jab more....Was it good that he abandoned his jab and just rushed in and smothered him?

Here's why I don't think Mayweather has more than a prayer of knocking Cotto out: 1. Cotto is much bigger and stronger than Ricky Hatton. 2. Cotto is not going to come flying in head first like Hatton did when he got KO'd, Cotto is a much more cautious fighter. 3. Mayweather is going to be more than aware that Cotto is bigger and stronger than Ricky, so he is going to fight a more defensive fight. 4. Cotto has insane recovery skills, at least that is what has been showed in his previous fights, and he has a ton of will... I don't think he is going to let himself get counted out, and his recover skills will save him from a TKO. I think Floyd wins a decision over him, and not nearly as wide as everyone seems to think it will be. 116-112 or 115-113 I would think.

He won't KO Cotto because he can't KO anyone he will duck. mayweather is hellbent on ducking Cotto, his publicist even said he will NOT fight Cotto in 2008. if he believed he could knock Cotto out he would sign up and do it. But he does not have the self belief.
