I think your right its Shobox that keeps letting me down. I look foward to watching boxing on the weekends and get a little annoyed when I see a stepping stone fight that turns out to be non competitive. I'm still looking foward to Malinaggis figh tomorrow night though.
you know its wierd, i hate malignaggis personality, but i get very excited when i get to watch him in action
Watching the peterson bros make me wonder why I bother with boxing, the first opponent was on like 5 days notice for the fight, they cheery pick bums for the peterson bros to fight, then the shotime announcers act like they are amazing. Boring.
Oh and as it was supposed to happen both peterson bros won.
nah the commentators were quite harsh on the peterson brothers actually
and u dont htink mesquitas a step up? I think the peterson brothers will be getting good opponents by the end of the year maybe contend for a title
Are u sure u watched the fights???? lol. cause not once did the showtime annoucners make it sound like they were amazing. They were going overboard with their critisism and complaining about the littlest things. lol. they didnt give these guys nearly enough credit, cause they hardly gave them any!!! lol
But i agree, these were monotnous fights, both were onesided and workmanlike.
But you have to remember that these guys are very young and not yet completely polished.
Take what im about to say however you want to, but they were in against their best opponents to date tonight, and they both dominated.
They are very impressive prospects and their future could be very bright as long as they are not forced into big fights to soon.
AND, they both have fan friendly styles, so if and when they do reach the top of the divisions, they will be amazing to watch.
On a side note, i have RARELY been entertained by a shobox fight. Its the whole crappy setup, the usually poor matchmaking, the late-night times when ur tired and on ur way out, and the boring nick charles announcer who sucks balls. The other guy is great though.
Of the 3 years ive been watching shobox off and on, one of the only fights ive thouroughly enjoyed happened a few weeks ago between Conyers and Kirkland an dit was a great 1 round fight.
You wanna know why you put up with boxing though? Watch tommorow. Malignaggi is a beautiful boxer, he has an enthusiastic following so the crowd will be into it, and it should be a very entertaining fight

Round 10: Great round. Mesquita comes out with urgency. Lamont lands a low blow on accident and Mesquita gets pissed. He comes out even faster and hits Lamont on the break, getting a point deducted, which I thought was stupid. Mesquita still had a great round though.
98-91
official scores coming soon.
edit:
98-93, 99-90, 100-89 UD for Lamont Peterson
Hope you guys enjoyed the round by round.
Round 9: First 2 minutes Lamont slips punches comes back with some combos. Mesquita is yelling "Fight me! Fight me!" They exchange it up in the last minute, but nothing on the edge of your seat exciting.
89-82.
It's ok.
Round 7: Mesquieta hits the side of the head twice while holding kinda. Lamont was crouching and so Mesquieta got him. Uneventful round, but I think Mesquieta got the better of it.
69-64
Round 5: An interesting round. Lamont does more combinations and catches Mesquieta with a left hook that barely knocks him down. Later in the round Mesquieta lands a left (?) that backs Lamont to the ropes and almost got knocked down. But it was still Lamont's round.
50-45
Round 6: One sided round by Lamont.
60-54
Round 3: Lamont showed great defense as it becomes more one sided. Showing fast hands and decent accuracy. Masquieta likes to constantly while about "low blows" (they hit the body or the belt line) and "headbutts"
30-27 Lamont.
edit: Round 4 is pretty much the same thing except no complaining.
40-36 Lamont.
Round 2: Pretty onesided by Lamont. Stuck the jab out there and landed cleaner shots. Masquieta would throw those looping shots and lamont showed great defense by blocking most of them and even rolling with his shoulder and having them miss.
20-18 Lamont.
Round 1:
Masquieta comes out blazing with wild shots Ricardo Mayorga style. Nothing to extreme and Lamont plays the counter puncher and is effective. Lamont landed a right hand when Masqueita was off balance. Ruled a slip. Afterwards Lamont becomes somewhat more agressive and lands cleaner shots. Masquieta tries to switch to southpaw with no avail.
10-9 Lamont. ( I forgot he screams. Ughhhhhhhhh)
I'll try to a round by round for Lamont Peterson's bout, but if I stop doing it it's because it's boring and onesided like the Vernon Forrest fight recently.
