Arum says Cotto won't fight @ MSG in June, but Pavlik-Duddy might...what's the deal?

In an interview on btalk, Arum says that Cotto won't be fighting on PR Day Parade weekend in 2008 because "we waited too long." Naturally I thought that meant he didn't reserve MSG in time, but he does have MSG on hold for that date and went on to say that's where Pavlik-Duddy may take place "with a Puerto Rican undercard." Wow, what a disappointment for Puerto Ricans. If Cotto doesn't fight DLH on May 3, there is no conceivable reason why he can't fight on that date at MSG, win or lose in March against whomever. Weird. Is Cotto-DLH a done deal? Arum didn't say ANYTHING about that possibility, and then he speculates Cotto will fight in March but there's no reason (or follow-up question) pertaining to why he wouldn't be on that June card at MSG. Color me confused. Is he smoke-screening news of a DLH-Cotto fight so Golden Boy can make the announcement?

it's a way to create major money. mayweather will fight the winner. de la fishnet is already a big name and big payday. cotto beating oscar would increase cotto's popularity and exposure, especially to the general public. Correct which is why I said that but I guess what I also wanted to add was that there is no "real" merit anymore to a victory over De La Hoya other than financial which is great for Cotto, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't really add much weight to his resume....some, but not much. Should this fight take place, this will be an argument and a defense for fanatics and naysayers in the future, just wait.

Damn man I just hope they confirm the DLH-Cotto fight, If Cotto wins, I could see the Floyd-Cotto fight happen late in 08. Yeah if Cotto dominates DLH then Mayweather has to look at fighting Cotto soon, because you know it will be a big payday again and plus it would be another fight that Floyd would have to take and win to start thinking of him as the best boxer of all time.

I sometimes seriously wonder what DLH is trying to accomplish still by fighting? Anymore, he's like a charity fight for the Welterweight division, just step up and get paid. I guess the one positive thing he continues to do whether advertent or inadvertantly is using his reputation to attract the commonfolk, possibly reviving an interest in boxing while turning them on to the people who beat him, haha. it means cotto will be too busy counting the millions he made a month earlier in vegas fighting the Golden Fishnet. Correctamundo. Means the DLH fight is likely on.
