most MMA fighters 95+ percent, are just very strong guys who know judo or former high school wrestlers ala Matt Hughes, these guys would get destroyed by top boxers.
If you don't think Wlad Klitchko would brutalize Tim Slyvia or Fedor Emirlenko then your a fool! Most MMA matches end up looking like dry sex, with a guy either mounted on top trying to do a arm hold, or a guy having a guy in the missionary position trying to choke him.

I think a boxer adapts alot more easily to MMA than an MMA fighter adapts to boxing.... You look at MMA fighters for example some started out as Muay Thai fighters who just trained for a short time in Jiu Jitsu or some other dicipline and can compete at a high level in mma... Boxing takes years to refine. If you compare the hands of most pro ranked boxers with that of the best stand up mma fighter, the boxer would be far superior, Compare Lidel with Tommy Morrison or Tyson with Rampage. Look at what happened when Kimbo Slice fought Rey Mercer... Kimbo a known striker had to learn a ground game to beat a far superior striker. If these other dudes can learn a ground game why can't a boxer.... Boxers are athletic, flexible enough, and have a high resistance to pain to learn kicking techniques, ground techniques.. A boxer would most likely be in better physical shape than someone who fough mma and should not have a problem adapting in a short period of time to the MMA game.... But without grappling or kicking skills I think a boxer would be at too big of a disadvantage unless it was againts a stand up fighter.
Good post.

HA HA HA.....WTF
Have you seen Pedro Rizzo Ko AA?
That was a nasty ko too.
Everytime AA gets KO'd or KO's someone it will be one for the highlight reels. Wish he would go back to his old ways but he seems like a much more cautious fighter now and for a good reason. No one wants to be KO'd like that.
How about this for a punchers chance?

Arlovski's first MMA fight vs Datsik.
Datsik has got to be one of the weirdest dudes to ever compete in MMA. Rolling wheel kicks and windmill haymakers.

MMA is dominant to Boxing in terms of pure fighting. Therefore, an MMA practitioner would beat the shit out of a pure boxer with no other discipline. Klitschko would get the shit beat out of him by Randy, Silvia or any of the top HW MMA fighters.
I would love to see Wlad fight Sylvia...
If a boxer fought in MMA ofcourse the guy more suited for the sport would be favored.
But the boxer would always have the punchers chance.
I already posted this, but this Midget knocked out a pretty good MMA fighter.
Can't believe this thread actually made 11 pages. I guess it's good to have people like dino around who stir s--- up.
Cintron would stand the best chance in MMA as he was a star wrestler as a youth.
Agreed.

In the streets, Floyds bodyguards would probably Kill GSP.
Floyd, Roger, Leonard & that failed boxer dude vs GSP.
Lets see. Floyd gets in GSP's face and runs his mouth about money and prison and bitches. GSP gets pissed off and takes Floyd down and starts hitting him on the ground.
Roger & failed boxer dude try to shake him off but GSP kicks them both in the nutsack and they fall down in pain. Floyd gets up and starts wailing at GSP. GSP tries another takedown but Leonard hits him with a beer bottle to the back of the head and stabs him twice. Game over for GSP.
Floyd Mayweather wins the boxing, MMA & street fight trilogy against GSP 2-1.
Yes in a MMA match GSP would Kill Floyd, not even considering GSP fights 23 pounds over 147.
In the streets, Floyds bodyguards would probably Kill GSP.
Unless GSP gets caught like did against Serra. There's always the punchers chance.
But realistically the reason the fight against Serra didn't hit the ground was because GSP respected Serra's BJJ and wanted to outstrike him and got caught with a good one. Against any boxer/striker he would take the fight immediately to the ground. Especially after the Serra experience.
I would love to see Floyd try and get in the ring with someone like George St. Pierre. George would literally kill Floyd. Never mind if it were in a boxing match, or an mma match. These 2 bump heads in the street, and something goes down, George would rape Floyd.
Dana should stop trying to promote the sport as a bloodbath and more of an actual sport/science. He also gives his buddies (Franklin, Liddell) way too many chances even when they get knocked the fuck out repeatedly.
Agreed. They have tried to make it look more like a sport but the overall athmosphere of their shows is still kind of amateurish with all the nu-metal and the subpar commentators.
I think the chances he gave to both Liddell and Franklin could've actually killed their MMA careers, now Franklin has lost badly twice to Silva and has no place in the division. Liddell also lost to Jardine of all people and now gets another dangerous fight against Silva. Another brutal KO would seriously end his career and probably damage his health.
Both Liddell and Franklin should've taken some time off.
I dont like the cage, they hate when people call the sport "Human Cockfighting" Yet before every UFC they have that gladiator guy with that music I dont like. They treat it more WWE then anything, they need to get real commentators.
But its worked for them, watever works I guess.
^^ mma is not boring dum fuk its more exciting then fukin boxing ok
yes it is more boring stupid.
Most times they're on top of each other doing fck all!
I would say Sherk (steroids), Arlovski (glass jaw), Rampage, Couture (old), Franklin, Koscheck and Sokoudjou (new) are quite good athletes too. Also there are other very good athletes in MMA outside the UFC. I don't think it's the lack of athletes it's the lack of image, people can't take the cage seriously and there are guys like Chris Leben and Tim Sylvia running around.
But don't forget we have guys like giant Valuev, Baldomir, old Toney and Ponce DeLeon (windmill) in boxing. There were many more tough guys in boxing in the past eras too who weren't very athletic but worked hard and knew boxing.
Overall the athletic advantage obviously goes to boxing of course, MMA is a much newer sport and fighters don't make as much money as boxers.
^^ mma is not boring dum fuk its more exciting then fukin boxing ok
Not really a smart thing to say in a Boxing Forum.
Its really up to the person which sport is more exciting.
MMA has more Ko's but when it comes to picking the most exciting MMA fight ever. MMA fans cant agree, because there arent many fights in MMA that go back and fourth the whole way.
Alot of people dont like seeing guys lay on top of each other in a missionary position, while wearing speedo's.
Different sports for different folks.
It depends on what you like. I do agree that overall boxing has had the better fights this year. MMA has been a bit of a mess lately but it seems like its coming on now with next weekend full of exciting match-ups.

I like MMA too but I think boxing has been more exciting lately...there were a few UFC PPVs that turned out to be a disappointment this year...boxing was great in 2007, we had great fights like Pavlik/Taylor, Pavlik/Miranda, Calzaghe/Kessler, Cotto/Mosley, Vazquez/Marquez II, etc.
