Would you like it boxing went back to using 15 rounds? Imo i believe we as fans have lost many special moments over the years due to 12 round fights. If Boxing brought 15 rounds back their would be more drama involved, and a high rate KO's in the latter rounds.
I don't know about you guys but when i watch a PPV fight it feels like it's going to fast, and the fight is over before you know it.
Thoughts?
I agree pretty much with what most people are saying. I love this sport but even I have to admit that the medical findings of the results of repeated blows to the head is undeniable: Neurological evidence shows that boxing is a dangerous sport, especially for one who partakes in it over a long period of time. Thus, even if a boxer does not show the affects immediately, the damage is being done to their brains.
Plus, in the more immediate sense a move back to 15 rounds would be more dangerous for the boxers because dehydration increases the potential for a concussion. Either way you look at it, this would not be a smart move. *
Unlike what people believe us to be, fans of this great sport are not blood-hungry idiots. We appreciate the technique, drive, and raw power of these competitors and don’t want to see them get seriously hurt.
* In fact, and I know I am in the minority of this opinion, but I would like to see headgear being utilized at the professional level. You would still get great fights (in fact, boxers would probably be even more willing to “mix it up” in the ring) and even knockouts, but the potential for both short and long-term neurological damage would decrease dramatically
15 rounds would definitely be great for us fans, but like others have said it's about the safety of the boxers. Boxers careers would be even shorter and after one tough 15 round contest a guy could be shot for the rest of his career. There is gonna be deaths, serious injury, and long term effects on boxers anyways because thats what happens when you get hit in the head a bunch of times, but boxers safety comes first.
the bigger question is... if Barrera and Morales fought on a 15 rounds fight... would there had been a KO??? or 45 rounds of WAR and CHAOS??? :boxing: :boxing: :boxing: :boxing:
They changed it for the boxer's safety not to take our enjoyment away from us. I would want the most major of matches to be 15 rounds but whose to say what those matches ACTUALLY are.
I'd say all fights should last 12 rounds. Except for championship bouts, they should be 15 rounds again.
They call themself champions, warriors and contenders - Well put them in 15 round fights them, like the old days.
cosign! it would sure as hell change the outcome in alot of championship bouts!

Or at least have Championship fights go 13......to cut down the likelihood of a draw.
No. It was changed from 15 to 12 rounds for fighter safety. With already enough complications facing boxers it would be a bad idea. Sure maybe more KOs, but more deaths, more brain damage, more Pugilistic Parkinson's syndrome. I enjoy seeing KOs, but as a boxer I do not enjoy seeing injuries.
i could'nt agree more, 12 rounds has hurt my body enough threw the years, i think i'd be brain dead by now if i fought 15 rounders. :boxing:
in fact you would be suprised how many people have died playing football(soccer)
See. accidents happen, that's just nature .. Nothing people can do about it.
They ban one sport and people will end up getting hurt in other sports.
in your opinion, do u think boxing should be banned?
Why should boxing be banned? Accidents happen.
Should MMA be banned then?
Kickboxing?
Muay Thai?
I mean even football theres hits where people gets paralyzed.
Any contact sport will have accidents.. fuck, even in soccer they break a leg and should that get banned? Naw, accidents happens in sports. Thats just the way it is, motherfuckers that say certain sports should get banned should just not watch it. I don't care if they say "I say this because I care for the fighters health" - A proffesional fighter knows the business is a risky one, they don't need nobody to tell them or worry about them.
The propensity for these injuries to occur increase exponentially with each additional round. Not only does the round reduction provide more protection to the boxers, it also protects the sport of boxing. Many American Neurologists are already lobbying to ban boxing, why give them more ammo?

People were trying to ban boxing 20 years ago, it didn't work then, it won't work now even if the sport returned to 15 rounds IMO.
I would like to see championship fights returning to 15 rounds. Some of the greatest fights in history would've had different outcomes had it been 12 rounds. Hearns vs Leonard, Marciano vs Walcott etc. And a lot of today's fight would have different outcomes if it were 15 rounds.
There's no guarantee that there would be no fatalities in a 12 round fight. Leavander Johnson, McClellan, Victor Burgos all suffered brain injuries for fights that lasted 12 rounds or less. These are accidents that sadly happen in this sport.

yes..that would be good. I think that if Cotto Mosely was 15rds it might of had a different outcome, Tito and DLH 15rds might of had a different outcome. Alot of fights would of had a different outcome if they were 15rds.

yea, you beat me to it.
From a fan's perspective, it would be good to see 15 rounds at times.
We would see more ko's, however a boring 12 round fight might stretch out to 15 boring rounds!
that said, it just means more damage, more punishment to the boxers..
That sounds too brutal , 15 rounds of boxing.
the sport is already brutal as it is, no need to make it even more barbaric..
