There have been so man. I mean, boxing is the drama of life. Failure, success, the inevitable downfall, drastic shifts of tide. Does it get any realer than that?
1. Pacquiao knocking out Barrera: This was a moment that made me a fan for life. I knew Barrera was good and all, but the only thing I knew about Pacquiao was we came from the same country. My Pops was big on him. When Pacquiao went out there and beat Barrera down, I was so amazed at how assertive and confident this kid was. This was special to me.
2. Paulie Malignaggi winning the title: When Paulie fought the fight of his life, bruised and swollen, it was more emotional for me than I thought. I've been cool with Paulie for a while and have interviewed him and hung out with the guy. What I noticed about him from chilling with him is that he is really the hungriest fighter on the planet. He wants to win more than anyone, and more than anyone else he wanted to be world champion.
To see him cry with joy and hug his father after the fight, I was so happy for him because he deserved it. He worked for everything he got and no one can take away that moment.
3. Nonito Donaire knocking out Darchinyan: Donaire was an underdog who no one thought had a chance. And one shot and boom, out go the lights. Donaire not only ko'ed him, but he did it with a "NOW WHAT MOTHERBLEEP!" swagger. He made me smile with that shot.
4. Diego Corrales coming back from 2 KDs against Castillo: The strength and fortitude of the prizefighter's heart once again on display with impossible dividends. Corrales wowed the planet with this one. Castillo was so dejected, looked like he would cry. To him, this was supposed to be his victory and it was stolen from him.
5. Tito knocking out Vargas: Vargas, full of desire, hanging on for life against an ax murderer. Tito was on fire in that twelfth and Vargas did all he could to make it to the final bell. Not enough, apparently.
Well, I think Taylor was in better condition during that fight than you do. Neither here nor there. What's done is done.
Okay, dude. I'll give you a nudge when I've seen the scrap again. I'll be hyper critical...maybe then we can agree!!!!!
Take it easy, bro...
I'm going to watch it again in a few minutes.
I gave Taylor 6 of the 12 that it lasted, and I saw him getting beaten towards the end, Chavez did what he did best, namely lasted 12 rounds at maybe 99%. But the real upshot of the fight is the punch that floored Taylor, and his inability to function when he was asked to function. Just because there was only two seconds left doesn't make it okay to let a fight continue. One more punch (it only takes a second to land one) on a shot mans chin could render him Michael Watson-like.

If you honestly think Chavez deserved to get that fight.. I just can't see it Taylor won the majority of the rounds. He controlled the action, dictated the pace. Landed great shots, better combinations. More accurately.. more shots in general. Chavez, NEVER outlanded Taylor, not even in the 12th round. I'ma HUGE Chavez fan, too. Top 3 JR. welterweights of all time, for me. I should want him to win just as much as anyone.
But if you don't win, I don't pretend you did. He won officially, I'm not sure he did realistically.
NOTE: I've watched the fight, atleast a dozen times. Chavez does good. He just got beat by the better man on that night. Even when he's getting his hand raised, he looks like he realizes he is lucky to have won that fight. You could make the arguement that it's just because it was a battle. But he's been in battles before. This one was different.

:killyou: Yet another stupid fuck.
Yet another stupid line from you.
Do you legitimise taping dogs mouths closed and then letting other dogs rip them apart like McClellan did?
Thanks Nigel, you did us all a favour. Now have a crack at Michael Vick.
2. Watching G-Man (who used to abuse dogs) get his ass kicked into a coma and then a wheelchair made me laugh so bad. Thank heavens for Nigel Benn.
:killyou: Yet another stupid fuck.
Yeah, dude
We'll agree to disagree.
Look at the fight again, man, look at Taylor after six or seven, he was flagging. Reminds me of G-Man - Benn, everyone says Gerald was on top, winning the lot, but in actual fact he was (not literally) dying in there.
Also, look at Taylor's distraction at the end of the round (read: Lou Duva), and how when Richard Steele said "You okay Taylor" he was staring somewhere else (read: Lou Duva), which gave Steele the impression he was fucked, which he was...two seconds or two minutes, dude was shot.

I'm not saying he got robbed or didn't. I'm not a ref. I don't pretend to be. However, I'm pretty sure he was OKay and could've lasted the rest of the fight.
As far as being schooled, for four rounds? No. Chavez was starting something and in a 15 round fight, he would have won. But, Taylor took 9 rounds, ATLEAST.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I respect that, it's an awful show of what boxing can lead to. Having said this, I can't assert that Taylor was robbed. He got schooled for the last four rounds, and was so out on his feet when JCC banged him with that punch...

Watching Hatton get knocked out was really fucking hard. The anguish he showed that night made me feel horrible. I felt so bad for him. In the short time I've been watching boxing, it's the first time I've gone through the "fives stages" the following day. He was the first guy I really followed in boxing.
The only time I really get near emotional about anything boxing-related at all, is when I watch that episode of Legendary Nights and listen to Meldrick Taylor speak.

1. Castillo - Corrales I, watching Diego come back from almost certain defeat to kick JCC's ass.

3. Gatti getting it kicked against Gomez, end of an era, end of a warrior. Nearly as bad as Chico dying.
Another sad memory. I recall watching that fight with a buddy and we were headed to AC the next weekend to see Cotto fight Torres.
Levander was from Atlantic City and they hit the bell 10 times. The one and only time I have ever been in a dead silent Boardwalk Hall.
Then I saw a life and death Cotto fight. Down on the canvas once and rocked numerous times.
Odd how things happen
Looks like Gatti and the Dracula looking dude in ur sig are 'bout to have an emotional moment.
While I wasn't watching boxing at the time (I was 8) and wouldn't see the fight until years later... watching Foreman knock out Moorer and win the HW title somehow lifted my soul up inside of me.
An easily out-pointed, out-matched, and out-of-shape Foreman shocks everybody.
The look on George's face as the ref waves it off and he looks up to where he believes God to be looking down upon him, and takes a knee in the corner. The gravity of the moment and something so deserved being delivered to a great man.
Still one of my favorite moments in boxing history to relive.
When Levander Johnson got...well johnsoned :(

Kelly Pavlik knocking out Jermain Taylor made me jump out of my seat and cheer.
I was pretty sad when Arturo Gatti was beaten for the last time by Alfonso Gomez.
Funny you should pick those 2. I would take them as my top two.
Being at Gatti - Ward 3 would be my third. It was an amazing environment for a fight.
The Gatti - Gomez fight was a heartbreaker. I was 15 rows back and when Arturo ate that right hand I turned my back to the ring and stared at my seat for about 5 minutes. Iv'e never cried for any fight , but I had to hold a few tears back that night. I knew it was the end of an era
Gatti losing to Baldomir, that one hurt it hurt deep.
you're telling me, man. especially the way he just sort of crumpled over like that, after getting completely out-boxed the whole night. it was terrible.
but i guess it made the loss to gomez a little easier to swallow.
being able to watch the majistry, the mastery, the magic that is Tye Fields. Tye fucking Fields.
Tye "Mothafucking" Fields..... It wont be long now.
