sorry folks, if Hopkins manages to beat Calzaghe (and I don't think he can), Hopkins will have to be ranked as the #1~P4P fighter on the planet.
I'm not trying to take away anything from Mayweather, but take a look at Bernard's history. He has fought EVERYONE. Jones, Johnson, Joppy, Trinidad, Taylor (twice), Wright, Tarver and next up is Calzaghe.
As gifted as Floyd is (Floyd's legacy will be determined by the fight with Cotto. First you used joppy...
then you used jones, which he lost too
then you used taylor which he lost too, twice
then you used winky wright, in a boring win, beating a guy that never fought at that weight before....
on the other hand... mayweather NEVER lost....
your entire reasoning is :ugh: :ugh: :ugh:
i recommend you watch the fights before you comment...

It is kind of a concern that both Eric Harding and Tomasz Adamek put Dawson down though, don't you think?
not really, not based on the way I saw him get back and then take them out.
kind of reminds me how trinidad usually got knocked down in the first couple of rounds only to get up and wreck a fighter.
he's got a fight coming up in a couple months against glenn johnson. dawson is still a little young and developing so he can be had right now. but it seems to me that if nobody gets to him in the next two years or so and taps that ass, i think he is going to be hell on wheels for LHW's and cruisers for along time. the kid has that much potential.
i'm just not sure johnson is the one to do it, but it is going to be a good fight and tell the world alot about about how good he really is.

so at the monent

I've only seen Dawson vs. Adamek and Ruiz. I don't know a great deal about him.
I will say that Calzaghe is damn good at getting you off of your game plan.
I'd probably favor Calzaghe, but I am pretty uninformed about how these two would look together, so my opinion means a little more than dick on the subject.

yeah, we'll have to see about that. i'm not so sure. i also want to see
calzaghe/dawson. who you like?

Pavlik is Mikkel Kessler of the 160 division, with more power. Very good technique, and a very good fighter.
If Pavlik moves up to 168, he becomes less strong than Kessler, because moving up takes power away.
If they fight at 175, Calzaghe likely wipes his ass out.

that is true. and i agree calzaghe kicks his ass. after that i want to see calzaghe/pavlik

Jones, Mayweather and some could argue Calzaghe all have better resumes that B-Hop. Calzaghe will embaress him.

Hopkins resume is not that great, he's lose 2 of his last 4, he beat 2 naturaly 140 pounders a few years ago. He's only beating a weighdrained nobody in tarver and a past his prime, overweight winky. He wont beat calzaghe. I'll guarentee that, but if he were to, he's still not above floyd, or pacquiao for that matter.
Yeah he "lost" two of his last 4, but you forgot that they were close fights, both times.
And don't give me that "They were small" bullshit Trinidad volunteered to come up, was fighting at 154 before that, still had his power (When you knockout William Joppy in 5 you have power), and he was participating in a tournament in which he advanced. Oh yeah and he was the favorite in the fight too.
De La Hoya can be argued since he looked like shit against Strum, but he also volunteered and was competetive until the knockout.
Tarver was also the favorite and dominating Tarver at 41 is impressive.
Topic on hand, no he wouldn't if he beat Joe. I'd have him at possibly 2, but not if Pacquiao beats Marquez.
by saying he lost to taylor twice means you haven't watched the fights. so i recommend you watch the fight and then form an opinion based on what you have seen and not what you read on this board. but you do make some good points about the smaller fighters.
retarded, would explain why you look like an usher groupie with those fake ass shades and glasses. have some respect for yourself and take down that jacked up avatar and get your own style.
I thought he lost to Taylor twice.
He didn't bother to fight the first 8 rounds in their first fight.
He got outhustled by Taylor in their second fight.
Simple as that.
Your list of world beaters Bernard has fought has some problems.
1. He lost to Taylor and Jones, so they are off the list.
2. He beat ODLH (started at 130) and Trinidad (a one-dimensional power fighter who started at 147... power goes away when you move up weight classes).
I definately don't know how you make the argument that Hopkins passes Pacquiao if he beats Marquez either. Pacquiao's resume is far greater than Hopkins's, and he will be beating a higher ranked fighter than Calzaghe in Marquez.
Mayweather also has beaten a couple of P4P elites, as well as a bunch of very good fighters.
What a retarded thread.
In reality, Hopkins cant hold Floyd's jockstrap.
A legend doesn't lose to a green, amateur fighter like Taylor.
Taylor is in his prime, and he has arguably lost his last 4 out of 5 fights. I dont want to hear any excuses.
Granted they were all top class opponents, but they were all smaller.
Spinks at the very least drew with him. I had Winky over him. And the Hopkins bouts are both disputable.

look, Im a big Hopkins fan but you cant put him over Floyd. 1st you said he wont all those fights but he didnt. He lost to RJ and lost to Taylor twice. He's also a guy who's had big fights but was also known for not taking big fights because of stupid money reasons. The biggest difference is that Floyd is a 5 division champ who has moved up unaturally and beat bigger guys while Hopkins stayed at 160 and beat up on smaller guys who moved up like Tito, Oscar, and Winky. The Tarver win was impressive but lets not make Tarver out to be the guy who was in the Rocky movie. Tarver had just lost to Glen Johnson of all people. How can you say his record is no match for Hopkins when most people think Hopkins resume is pretty made up? I mean he had all those MW defenses but its not like he was fighting in "this WW division". All the guys he beat were pretty average until the little guys moved up to fight him. He should beat them. Floyd is the little guy who has moved up to fight the big monsters. You think Cotto will stop Floyd because Floyd is a little guy who has moved up and the WW's are too big for him. That should gain him more credit then your giving him because what Hopkins did was the other way around
i think calzaghe will win the fight but he not dominates hopkins i've never seen a fighter that dominated hopkins even roy didn't,so stop saying"embaress",and about p4p#1 i think he shouldn't be he even said that floyd mayweather is the best fighter of his era so if he says this you must just shut up!

And Hopkins was at the peak of his career? Are you forgetting that Hopkins moved up a weight class for the fight and his now into his 40's?
As for losing to Jermaine Taylor twice I will always have my doubts about that first title fight, I had Hopkins up on points, I'm no fight judge, but too me he was up, that was before I was a Hopkins fan as well.

Yeah, Hopkins lost to Taylor in their first fight just like Sturm lost to ODH.
But we do agree on Calzaghe, I think Hopkins loses that fight. After, I want to see Calzaghe/Dawson.
