1. floyed mayweather- obvious and rational
2. pacman- no one is gonna argue with this i dont think
3. juan manuel marquez- also reasonable
4. bernard hopkins- BULL SHI T! Hopkins is not a top 5 p4p fighter he hasnt been for a long, long, long time
5. joe calzaghe- behind bernard hopkins!!!!!!!! this is insane! hopkins is a dinasoar with verry verry faded skills and he quite frankly looked horrible in his last fight, Calzaghe is coming off the biggest win of his career and in impressive fashion
6. isreal vazquez- this is a respectable option although there is no way he should be behind hopkins
7. miguel cotto- debatable but i like him in this spot but again not behind hopkins
8. ricky hatton- i personaly dont have him top 10 but this isnt to rediculous
9. winky wright- Same thing as hopkins old fat and faded no disrespect ( he is my all time favorite fighter)
10. rafael marquez- HE NEEDS TO BE TOP 5 he should deffanatly be above cotto
So okay, I may be a bit harsh but do u guys agree a, i the only one who thinks the rankings are rediculous? I mean the ring usualy has it spot on but latly their p4p has sucked pretty hard. Any one agree?
but can u honestly say that after a performance such as that that they are still p4p guys? and honestly can u say b-hop is better p4p than winky even though he won?
I can SAY a lot of things. But that's not how p4p rankings SHOULD be considered.
Hopkins beat Wright, heads up. It's hard to honestly dispute that. You can say, p4p he would fair better. BUT, then you can also counter that with the heads up argument. Therefore, you go with what you can prove. HEADS UP. Hopkins beats him there, so you gotta go with reality.
In terms of both being p4p, yo have to take into consideration that they are fighting in "big fights" and are still fairing OKay. If some young guy comes in and takes them out, that's one thing. It hasn't happened. Just because they have slipped SLIGHTLY or OTHERWISE, doesn't mean that other fighters have excelled passed them. You gotta prove that, just like they have to prove they are worth of being on the list.
For example.. Take them out of the top 10. Who SHOULD be there. OVER Wright and Bernard, keep in mind. They have to be able to do well in their divisions, have to have the same level of resumes and have to be able to beat Wright and Hopkins p4p, with the same OR A BETTER upside.
You might be able to find fighters for you personally, but I don't get offended when ESPN or The Ring Magazine doesn't...
Yeah, but against eachother. They are fighters who both thrive off making other fighters look bad. Put those two together, and it's bound to happen.
For the record, the fight WASN'T AS boring as most expected. Not exciting, but not as bad as people expected.

Just a quick thought, with PBF effectively retired, does that make Joe Calzaghe the new P4P #1 according to ESPN?
Doubtful. Most people don't take his retirement seriously. If they do, I'd be shocked and saddened at their stupidity. And he's not even "officially" retired. He's on hiatus.
Its not that i dont like old fighters in the list, But u gotta look at how they looked in the last fight, Hopkins AND winky both looked like shyt

Im with the thread starter on this one, that list is almost entirely wrong, and although it was virtually the same, there have been a few subtle differences that IMHO were bullshit.
Hopkins was number 1 P4P until he lost a CLOSE couple of fights to Taylor. He was still in the top ten though, reasonably.
Then, he came back and won THEIR world title at 175 and beat Winky Wright, their number 2. So, by their standards, set before the purchase, how is it bullshit? They had this, once again, BEFORE the purchase.
Wright was number two, and lost ONCE, to another p4p legend. Nothing dishonorable in that. The ESPN list is essentially the same. p4p rankings are very "person to person" so to speak. It's bound to be slightly different for everyone.
And even still, their lists are STRIKINGLY similar.
I find the espn list to be better, but that shouldnt be the case, ring magazine proudly proclaims itself to be the boxing bible, yet they publish shite like this. I smell Golden Boy Promotions in all of this somewhere.....
They had the list virtually the same before the purchase. So, where do you see GBP involved?

So, you think Rafa Marquez is above Israel Vazquez. And you hate old guys being in the p4p rankings?
