I just don't see how anybody at WW can cope with a 6'2 southpaw that is still learning and devoloping boxing skills. The Williams-Mayweather fight won't happen so we can forget about that. Mayweather only wants the big names and Williams is not there yet. That only leaves Cotto and Cintron and Williams beats them both IMO.
And who's gonna go to the head?
and who is going to the body without getting hit with tons of punches on the way in? they go to his body, he will make them pay for it.
williams won the margarito fight easy. he lost bout 3 rounds in the later rounds. lost none in the beginning. williams is the only fighter i see him giving mayweather big problems coz of his workrate reach and height.
True. It'll be an interesting fight if it happened. Maybe Cotto can walk through those punches because Williams doesn't sit down on a lot of the shots, and Cotto can break him down like he does with many of his opponents. Maybe Williams can keep Cotto at range and frustrate him.
thats how i see it.
True, but Cotto would be in danger as well because he is right there in range of all of those volume punches from Williams.

I'm not sure if he can clean out the division. He has all the tools to do it. the workrate, solid chin, height, reach etc. But he likes to come down to his opponents height a little too much sometimes and that could be a big problem with guys like Cotto.

I don't think class came into it. Both guys were lazy and it just so happened that Margarito was lazier.I have nothing against Williams and I haven't seen a great deal of him so I shouldn't be too critical but I just feel that from what I have seen talk of beating Mayweather or Cotto is a little premature.
how could Williams ever be lazy? he has a high work rate and throws volume punches. and Margarito was being ducked by big name fighters for a reason.
^^ I smell a hater, Williams outworked Marg and turned it up at the end to show the world who was the real champ in the ring that night. Paul just out classed him.

Nevermind the judges scorecards, did you watch that fight?
Yep, I was disappointed in Williams and Margarito. Both fighters were heavily hyped up but seemed to take it in turns to sleep through rounds.
^^ WHY because nobody in WW wants to fight him??
Because he struggled past Antonio Margarito, a man who is a bit of a laughing stocking on here (unfairly I might add), yet people think he would beat Mayweather and Cotto based entirely on the fact that he has a massive reach.
Paul crushes everyone in Welter Weight besides floyd, and I have Paul winning by decision against money. If floyd decides to lay against the ropes against Paul he's going to sleep.
i see what you are saying, but plenty of fighters fight with thier hands down and don't get hit a lot.
yes, like Tarver and Jones, and at some point they are exposed. Like I said, I'm not predicting a loss, but I wouldnt make claims of grandeur yet.
He needs to bring his hands back after punches instead of elbow punching against a guy like cotto or floyd assuming those guys get inside. I am not saying he would LOSE to them, but this is definitely a flaw. Basic boxing, keep your hands up.

exactly, i don't know what makes them think that Williams has bad defense. he bobs and weaves.
