that sure seems to be the consensus here... usually if you beat someone LIKE floyd ... your an atg cotto is an awesome fighter... but he beat two fighters... really good fighters... but i dont think cotto can DEFINE someones career.. not yet anyway

So basically Everyone is saying BEAT Cotto.... Then he will be the ATG boxer. I wonder if this will change after he beats cotto... because obviously you can plainly see the style difference.. Well I'm off to think about my own fight this weekend... If money is the motivation then fine but again I feel he has more than enough, isn't he attempting to become a promoter therefore why fight? no, my friend across the pond, im saying that mayweather's choice of fighters have been fincancially motivated which can water down legitimate options. i said he was an ATG but i personally feel that Mayweather has the potential to accomplish something greater. just my take on it.

Cotto and Williams, even CALZAGHE are fighters in their prime that have the best chance to compete with Mayweather. Look at Mayweather's last 3 opponents. I think Mayweather should hang his gloves up, safe in the knowledge he is an ATG. Cotto or Mosely. Why? How long does this go on, if another fighter breaks through does he need to also then beat them? Hatton should be enough after the career he's had already, why? Because Hatton was in his prime, unbeaten and the L/Welter King. Nothing more to prove in my book.

And after he beats cotto in a few years they will be calling for the williams fight... only logical though. as a fight fan, you want to see these fights materialize.

He has cemented himself as an alltime great already. If he wants to be called one of the greatest of all time, he has to beat Cotto, then I am convinced. I was honestly never sold on Hatton as an opponent. I've said this all along. I think he is a hall of famer, but I still don't agree with even comparing him to Sugar Ray Leonard. Cotto is another guy on the path to being an alltime great fighter, believe it. Those two fight, I would be willing to compare Mayweather to anybody except for Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammed Ali.

He doesnt have to fight anyone, all he has to do is say "I'm leaving boxing and ducking real welterweight threats so that I dont have to slurp thanksgiving dinner through a straw at age 40 and dont end up with alzheimers or worse. There are some Mayweather fans, a minority probably, who refuse to give ANY of Mayweather's opponents the respect they deserve and then expect everyone to fawn over Mayweather after he beats people they have been calling nobodies.
