Mayweather is still undefeated....I respect that.. 39 fight still unbeaten.. Few hall of famers in it.. 17+ of champions... A few big undefeated names...Corrales/hatton... He's been in brawls and everything..
WHO does he HAVe to beat for you to Say he's an ATG?
he (floyd) can fight klitschko, and still be clowned...
Exact truth...
I can hear it now... Klitcscko was too slow for floyd.. of course he would win against a slow heavy weight...
But Ali and tyson would whoop him easily...
*Floyd beats tyson*
See tyson is a bum.. lennox beat him... so of course floyd would beat tyson...
But I'm sure rampage from the UFC would stomp floyd..
*Floyd beats Rampage*
That Big Sasquash from from the beef jerky commercials... I'm sure floyd wouldn't stand a chance against his jab...
*Floyd loses to sasquash*
See floyd sucks... always faced soft competition before Sasquash.
that sure seems to be the consensus here...
usually if you beat someone LIKE floyd ... your an atg
cotto is an awesome fighter... but he beat two fighters... really good fighters... but i dont think cotto can DEFINE someones career.. not yet anyway
So basically Everyone is saying BEAT Cotto.... Then he will be the ATG boxer.
I wonder if this will change after he beats cotto... because obviously you can plainly see the style difference..
Well I'm off to think about my own fight this weekend... Thanx for all the feedback.. had fun reading everyones responses.
*(Dont read the thread then.. to the lil kid who said sumthin about me making him cry or somethin:bottle: )*
if he would, could, should.. win a middleweight title... and he could do it.. he really could.. man that would be speechless... absolutely 100% top 10 of all time
A win over Cotto has to be worth more than a win over Felix Sturm.
if he would, could, should.. win a middleweight title... and he could do it.. he really could.. man that would be speechless... absolutely 100% top 10 of all time
indeed. indeed.
Fight Cotto in a year, and then call it a career.
Where would you place him on your ATG list if he beat Cotto? Or would he even be on that list even with his victory?

If money is the motivation then fine but again I feel he has more than enough, isn't he attempting to become a promoter therefore why fight?
no, my friend across the pond, im saying that mayweather's choice of fighters have been fincancially motivated which can water down legitimate options. i said he was an ATG but i personally feel that Mayweather has the potential to accomplish something greater. just my take on it.
It wont go long because these are guys he's supposed to fight. legitimate welts. you cant sit there and tell me that Floyd's choice of fighters hasnt been financially motivated. it doesnt matter if Mosley's been ducking him or if Cotto isnt on the same level, it's whats logical. DLH fought Trinidad because Trinidad was a logical threat. RJJ fought Tarver because he was a logical threat. Barrera fought Morales because he was a logical threat. Cotto and Williams, even CALZAGHE are fighters in their prime that have the best chance to compete with Mayweather. Look at Mayweather's last 3 opponents.
Hatton: Everyone and their mother's aunt's sister knew Hatton would not compete with Mayweather and you saw thread's here questioning Hatton's disputable undeafeted record and calling him "overrated"
Oscar De La Hoya: To say that Oscar De La Hoya was in his prime and a legitimate threat when he fought Mayweather is plain ridiculous and ignorant. Everyone predicted the outcome of the fight: Mayweather would score with potshots and tire Oscar out.
Baldomir: Are you fucking kidding me?
What Mayweather has accomplished is incredible. Anyone with any knowledge of Boxing cannot deny that. But if he's gonna go out, he needs to go out with a certifiable bang. 2 more fights. Cotto, Williams, Calzaghe, any 2 of those 3 and Floyd can break the top 10.
Not sure about your Calzaghe reference mate, its one thing fighting a blown up Light Middle but not the King of the Super Middles.

Cotto or Mosely. Why? How long does this go on, if another fighter breaks through does he need to also then beat them?

I think Mayweather should hang his gloves up, safe in the knowledge he is an ATG.

Hatton should be enough after the career he's had already, why?
Because Hatton was in his prime, unbeaten and the L/Welter King.
Nothing more to prove in my book.
And after he beats cotto in a few years they will be calling for the williams fight...
only logical though. as a fight fan, you want to see these fights materialize.
He has cemented himself as an alltime great already. If he wants to be called one of the greatest of all time, he has to beat Cotto, then I am convinced. I was honestly never sold on Hatton as an opponent. I've said this all along.
I think he is a hall of famer, but I still don't agree with even comparing him to Sugar Ray Leonard. Cotto is another guy on the path to being an alltime great fighter, believe it. Those two fight, I would be willing to compare Mayweather to anybody except for Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammed Ali.
he's an all time great already, but for him to be top 10, he'd have to beat Mosley, Cotto, and Williams in my opinion. If possible, travel back in time, beat Leonard, Whitaker, Maximus, Leonidas, the Bubonic Plague, the Ice Burg than sunk the Titanic, and Alexander the Great. If he needs one, I can let him borrow this..

lol... Well Until Sasquash turns pro I guess floyd will stay undefeated,,,
And after he beats cotto in a few years they will be calling for the williams fight...
he doesn't.. he can retire now and close the door behind him and I will only congradulate him, he is a all time great as is and will never be forgotten, if he fights Cotto IMO it's a mistake and he will lose but hey I'm just 1 person, I don't want to see Floyd lose so I pefer to see him retire and walk away on top.. 100

He doesnt have to fight anyone, all he has to do is say "I'm leaving boxing and ducking real welterweight threats so that I dont have to slurp thanksgiving dinner through a straw at age 40 and dont end up with alzheimers or worse. I know that I am not really top 10 p4p, but I'd like to be respected for what I accomplished anyway and for making the right decision for my family."
if anything he should have ducked ODLH ..so he isnt ducking coots he's waiting till theres more money...
lol are you guys just not smart or do you just jump in the ring for the least amount of money?

There are some Mayweather fans, a minority probably, who refuse to give ANY of Mayweather's opponents the respect they deserve and then expect everyone to fawn over Mayweather after he beats people they have been calling nobodies.
