10 fights I want to see in 2008

In no particular order: 1. Valero - Pacquiao: This fight could definitely be made in the Philippines, since Valero is not allowed to fight in the US. It would draw massive crowds in Manila and a huge TV audience. It's the fight to make regardless of Pac beating Marquez or not. 2. Mormeck - Bell III: Just watch the first two fights. Need I say more? 3. David Haye - Darnell Wilson: The Ding-a-Ling Man has earned his shot by beating three straight top 15 contenders. It's a fight that will definitely spark the fireworks at the network. 4. Abraham - Wright: Winky will be coming back down to 160 and Arthur seems to be looking to make it big on American TV. Why not fight the best available guy out there (Pavlik is fighting Taylor next)? 5. Williams - Clottey: Styles make fights and this style match up would definitely prove great for the fans. 6. Malignaggi - Hatton: Repeat of Floyd - Ricky or does Ricky run through the feather-fisted Italian-American? I guess they'll have to fight to find out. 7. Miguel Cotto - DLH: The fight that wasn't supposed to happen (according to Oscar's wife, anyway). This might be a repeat of DLH-Chavez with the old star giving way to the new, but it might not. Can you say top 3 All-Time PPV numbers? 8. David Diaz - Joel Casamayor: Diaz is holding Casita's title, which he never lost in the ring. How about Diaz proves he deserves it? 9. Arce - Darchinyan: This fight's been talked about for ages and has never been done. With Darchinyan's power and his recent KO loss, this is a fight that definitely doesn't go the distance. 10. Ivan Calderon - Edgar Sosa: I don't think a better match up at the lowest 3 weight classes exists today. I've seen both fighters live and on TV multiple times and I think that Sosa has the style to box with Calderon and make it interesting. Note: these fights assume that Pac-Marquez, Vazquez-Marquez III, and Pavlik-Taylor II are already signed. Discus... EDIT: Hopkins-Calzaghe isn't there because I swore I'd never watch another Hopkins fight again (he bores me to tears). As for any Mayweather fights, he said he's on a break so I didn't include any of his fights.

I would have thought so, dude. That's the safest option for him. He has to get by Taylor first, their first fight for me was definitely a contender for FOTY. I dunno if Joe C would be up for it, though. All Pavlik has to put on is 8lbs, it shouldn't be a big deal. Having said this, and as you rightly imply, his interests might be vested somewhere else. The Taylor rematch isn't for the 160 lb. title. It's at a catchweight. Pavlik walks in and out as champ even if Taylor beats him

I was thinking about the last one last night. It could happen if Pavlik stuck some weight on. Man, that's be a great scrap. I fucking love Kelly Pavlik. I only saw his last two fight, but I'm hooked. Proper balls-to-wall scrapper. Pavlik will surely defend his middleweight belt next after the Taylor fight, wouldn't you think?

Mayweather vs Spinks Wlad vs all the belt holders RJJ vs Hopkins or Joe Calzaghe Mayorga Vs Cotto. Trinidad vs Pavlik All are possible but unlikely.

I'd like to see Hatton vs. Malignaggi, Peter vs. Klitschko II (for 3 belts), Brewster returning to the ring, Tarver-Dawson, Marquez-Pacquiao II (which is happening), Mayorga-Spinks II, Pavlik-Calzaghe All but the last one seem very possible I was thinking about the last one last night.
