as the popularity of boxing is on on the increase in the uk. A politician has called for boxing to be taught in schools as it helps in bringing discipline to people and is good for fitness
There was a radio talk show on last night and most people were against the idea. I just wondered what boxing fans thought of the idea and we need to get over saturdays fight lol with some new topics
i did karate once, bored the fuck outta me.
Maybe it was the type and/or the teaching.
You need to find a good school in a tough neighborhood where teachers don't give to shits about your health, but at the same time, teach you discipline.
What I am trying to say is, if your instructor doesn't beat the crap out of you in front of your parents, then you are not having fun.
Heh, if that bill got passed here in the US, kids would learn boxing in schools sure, but with a Video Controller in their hand. :(
Depends where you are. There is still the ghetto ass schools. It would be better than them shooting, stabbing and beating each other up with bats, that's for sure.
Fights happened every day when I went to highschool and I don't think it is any better there now.
These kids need discipline, although I have the feeling they will just take their dicipline outside in the streets for paydays since they were doing that without the boxing program.
There is certiantly talent in the blue-collar and ghetto kids.
of course it could be counterproductive if somebody keeps getting concussions, unless you do a "no-contact boxing" hahahahaha.

Ive done brazilian ju-jitsu, tkd, and Boxing. Boxing is not a sport for kids. It is the most dangerous of all three if you spar. If you dont spar, its a waste of time because it is not as useful of a self-defense combat style as other martial arts. Boxing also does not have the inherent honor and self-discipline code that other martial arts teach. It is fun to be sure, but too dangerous for kids.
Back in the day... When two kids wanted to fight, and there were problems... at the end of the day they would be allowed to go in the gym and put on the gloves, and thats how it was settled. This would never happen today and its kinda sad.
Yeh they should, give out forms, who ever has permission, and wants to fight could join,it would be good
off topic but in your sig with Tyrone Brunson isn't tyrone brunson's moniker "young gun"?
It should be non-contact, and if it was you could make it compulsary. Unless their worried about kids learning how to punch correctly then hurting eachother, but on the flipside, they might stop carrying knives then!
I don't think that boxing is something that can be forced upon people. With my kids I'll put them in soccer and I'll put them in Judo but I won't let them do boxing unless they ask me to do it.
I would be against making boxing mandatory in schools but I wouldn't have a problem in making it accessible.
Boxing has a way of keeping people humble. You learn very quickly there's always someone who can woop my ass and not to underestimate anyone. I think we need that today.

I think its more to make it accessible fella rather than compulsory.

Yeah they could do the non-contact stuff, no way is this country going to allow it.
I mean they let us play Rugby at my school and we used to fucking go for it, most of us didn't even know the rules for fuck sake, you'd just find someone you didn't like and smash him, and he'd do the same to you. Pure Comedy. I'm sure boxing would actually have been safer.
they can't i don't think. Health and Safety especially here in the UK.
u dont have to go in a ring and punch someone though at that age do u. Surely they can hit a bag, skip etc. If they get a taste for it then they can move into contact boxing later on.
I would deffo have preferd boxing to playing rounders thats for sure
