I understand trying everything to rally your compatriate in the biggest fight of his life. But there are many more appropriate ways to do so than to boo the national anthem of a country that opened it's doors for you to support your fighter on it's own soil.
I really had no particular pick going into the fight, but when I saw the Hatton fans disgusting act of disrespect to the Star Spangled Banner, I wanted to punch the television set.
Ricky Hatton is a class act, a true gentlemen. But those idiots who made the long trip to spit on American hospitality, they need some serious lessons in ettiquette.
Maybe the booing and hostility towards america was due to the british not atually having respect for your nation and what it stands for? i mean you have to be a dumb american if you expect countries to respect the united states after whats happend over the past 7 years.
I aint trying to turn this thread in to a political one but im just making a point that the booing may have been a reflection of the feelings of the world towards america.
Go fuck yourself. We dont give a shit what assholes like you think. We were attacked and fought back. We aint pussies like you. You hit us we hit back.
Weight , elbows , ref , and said like Floyd is a dirty fighter ,, all came from Hatton and the fans have followed on with it trying to bolster those issues , but Ricky did say he was surprised by Floyds strength and inside fight , he shouldnt have been as lots told him about it ,,, now Graeme is harping on the weight saying never again , why even mention it as it had nothing to do with this fight , this is a save face smokescreen as the fight was not fought at welterweight , true welters come in at 160 on fightnight ,,, Floyd was 149 stepping in and Hatton was 151 , they cant throw weight in this fight thats pure bullshit and anyone that knows boxing knows it .
Eh Mozza dont call me silly names , I might have to bring some of your prior fight posts into it .
Hatton admitted that Mayweather deserved to win and has rightly named him as the best fighter on the planet so the excuses you are suggesting he made are actually not excuses at all but merely his opinion of the fight. I believe that the referee was appalling but I also acknowledge that Mayweather would have won the fight even if the referee had been perfect so that negates any accusations of making excuses.
Oh, and you can bring up any posts you want because frankly my dear I don't give a damn.
The english aren't actually complaining about the fight anymore though, just the odd few.
Mayweather deserved to win and we all know that, we just have a lot of national pride and really wanted Ricky to do it, but it doesn't help when every other post is about how shit Ricky was and how every boxer in the world can KO him because Floyd hit a perfect punch.
Time to let the Brits off on the booing stuff , they came with a big drum and made a lot of noise like blowhards always do , in the end they all got KOed , pockets cleaned and sent home crying , they have so much egg on their face we should be humble and drop of the booing stuff , the only disappointment in the Brits is the excuses , from Hatton down to the casual fan , after all they said thats recorded in hard print and on video , and now what they are saying , lol the joke is on them , but their pommys and excuse's were to be expected I suppose , they have never been honorable losers in the history of sport , someone should tell them they dig their own grave with all the mouthing they do before the event .
Hatton didn't make excuses. Only in the minds of the unhinged are Brits making excuses. It is easy to criticise the ref without making excuses. There is a difference between those two things and it is about time muppets like you started to realise that.
hahahahaa please.
casual sports fans don't shell out thousands of pounds and fly to las vegas.
Booing national anthems is just a English pastime.
No offence, honest. Its just what the fans do. No harm was meant, i assure you - the fans don't dislike America, or the song. Its just what the do. They do it for EVERY anthem of EVERY country.
Bad i guess, but come on. If you'd booed ours, we'd have fucking laughed. Infact thats what they wanted. They wanted u 2 boo ours. Get a bit of rivalry between the fans. Get your fans mad with our fans. Get a bit of aggro!
COME ON!! FAAACKIN MAGS!
I like this post.
I made a post on Sunday morning apologising for the booing but some people need to get it in perspective.
It was disrespectful, distasteful and disappointing but it's not as if we Brits invaded your house on Christmas day and pissed on your kids.
There are better things to talk about.
i was appalled at the way team hatton treated floyd mayweather at the weigh in and the behaviour of the british fans, i believe the majority of hatton fans are casual sports fans, theres no way a true boxing fan would disrespect mayweather like that
even if it was illegal to boo it what was they goin to do lol?
its not illegal in the U.S. so nothing. In other countries...illegal or not, they might riot-face persecution.
Some of the fans, although not all, were rude and disrespectful for voicing their opinions(booing) during the national anthem, but it is something that would happen every where else in the world where the US National athem is played.
It may have been somewhat political or just showing their disapproval for the American boxer, either way it was ignorant, and probably not directed at the people of America or America itself...because I believe most if not all British fans that were in attendance love being in Vegas.
It sucks that it was done in our own backyard- in the USA. But it also shows the freedom of speech that we have in this great country of ours.
I thought you had some in you?
Trust me, she'll make exceptions for a good kick in the cunt. She loves it. That's why the Royals always live so long. Diana never took to it, so they rigged her car.
My name is Ryan Christopher LOL of course I have some limey in me.
It's a shame, because she offers good money for a kick in the cunt. Plus a knighthood.
But I won't be called Sir because I'm not of British descent. After what happened to Giuliani, I stopped petitioning the Queen.
But what analogy are you going to use next? "I wouldn't kick the queen in the cunt"?
In all fairness though, I really couldn't. I promise, my Mom taught me well.
It was a bit of a stretch, but Princess Di was the first thing that came to my mind when I thought about England.
ok them your abusing the system. Tell me something what happenes when threads keep getting made of the same same thing? They get merged together what you need to do is find the 10 or so threads that have already been made on this topic and express your stances on them in there.
I'm not sure how I'm abusing anything. I understand how something like this thread would make some feel uncomfortable, but there are a ton of other threads with varying stances that you can become a part of if this one doesn't suit you.
Otherwise, you can try to stay on topic and quit resulting to personal favors, i.e asking one to STFU.
its called british passion.
Call it what you want, there's no excuse good enough for that type of behavior. Especially after America opened it's arms to Hatton. You can blame it on the football culture or whatever you want but at the end of the day there is no excuse to justify those actions.
What pisses me off most is most Europeans have an arrogant attitude towards Americans, calling us "barbaric" or "uncivil". If that wasn't the pot calling the kettle black I don't know what is, at least we respected your anthem.
Well, In-Ring Mayweather... I eat my own words, but he really is an amazing boxer and my hat goes off to him... But it doesn’t change the fact of how he handles himself outside of his "office".
And any upcoming fight, I will still pray for him to lose.. just so that his loud mouth can finally shut up about being the greatest!
If you're all that great (which I admit) why not let us, the fans do his praising? Why does he has to be a cocky SOB disrespecting the other all time greats? That's the part that I hate
There are a lot of things I dislike about Mayweather. I find myself identifying more with Hatton as a person than Mayweather. I wondered aloud about how boxing would change if Mayweather lost, particularly to a guy like Hatton. Hatton is a likeable bloke, but I'm not sold on him as a fighter sometimes. His style is hard to like because you can't actually see the punches landing.
Mayweather is an excellent fighter who will always find some difficulty in being accepted. It's his mouth that shoots him in the foot. As a fighter, he has it all but he's about as hard to swallow as Amy Winehouse outside of the ring.
