Ali had the rope a dope for what he did against Foreman, "Down goes Frazier" was the saying for his fight against Foreman, "no Mas" for SRL and Duran. Will the KO of Hatton be known as the "the Check Hook"?
I thought it was a near perfect left hook set up and executed close to perfection and the result was classic stuff. Very devestating punch that left Hatton victim to an ESPY like highlight.
what do u all think? Does it warrant a slogan or nickname?
Yup...
Did anyone else notice Floyd landed the EXACT SAME punch a round or two prior? It nearly had the same results to, Hatton lost balance and went towards the corner but stayed on his feet. It definitely wasn't a lucky punch, Floyd knew exactly what he was doin
Check hooks, lead rights, jabs, and body shots. :boxing:
He meant to do it but the ref gave him more chances than he would have done to actually land it. Deducting a point from Hatton made him gung ho, and splitting them up after every 2 seconds. In 2 seconds Hatton wouldnt have time to let his hands go and find that sweet spot on the stomach.
That's the ref job. Clinching and hitting is not in the rules. U CAN"T HOLD AND HIT!
and I didn't see the ref breaking up anything when Floyd was outworking Hatton on the inside and backing him off. hatton had plenty of times for his chance to his body thang and couldn't succeed. How many times did Floyd just go to the ropes for him and roll off his punches?
He just got beat by a guy with no power who runs all the time, just face it.
But in the third PBF elbowed haatton to cut him and was using elbows constantly without being warned, so basically PBF knew the ref was on his side. Hatton throws a punch when PBF turns away and gets taken a point away and the punch didnt even land. And PBF turned his head away so it wasnt that much of a crime. Actually was what Hatton did a crime? If a boxer suddenly turns his back to you. Like when Duran turned and walked away from SRL in second fight, SRL started punching him from behind. It was competitive up to that point when Hatton got deducted a point.
PBF was better on the night but there is a thin line between victory and defeat. In manchester it woiuld be PBF taking elbows and he would not score no knockout.
I didn't order this pay per view, came on here to see pics or clips. I didn't know he KO'd Hatton going backwards. Thats Sugar Ray Robinson stuff. No doubt "the check hook" will be in many highlite reels to come.
I will say this, even though I don't think that Hatton would have won anyway, the ref did a terrible job in the fight. He did hamper Hatton by not allowing more in fighting and letting Hatton fight out of those clinches.
The ref gave PBF the opportunity to land that hook when Hatton came in. By seperating them all the time, PBF had lots of chances to wait for Hatton to steam in. Otherwise Hatton would be right in front of his face ready for the body punch ala Castillo styly.

No not at all. The check hook is a common term to boxers as well as the counter pull. Most people that box will know that. Floyd just called it what it is . It's like calling a over hand right .
True, I know it's a punch that is used and not invented by him, but Jordan winning shot against The Jazz is called ths shot and he didn't invent the shot.Based on the significance of shot and the effects i think it wil be called something if not the check hook.

Yet 44 fights of constant holding and hitting does? Get the fuck outta here with that shit. Hatton is boring and proved it Saturday. The most exciting thing he did was ask Mayweather to buttfuck him in round 6, which I thought was fuckin weird. I mean Mayweather was basically raping him anyway, I guess he wanted to get it in the ass too.
If people can't figure out that Hatton was mimicking Floyd pretending to get his head punched through the ropes then you need to take the ballsacks off your eyelids for a second. I mean come on is it that hard to understand?
I can imagine when this fight is documented that reporters will say that "Mayweather rocked Hatton with what he called a check-hook", and then describe it, so I could see it happening.

Yes! It will be mentioned on 2017's version of "legendary nights"..:)
Hatton made the fight exciting with his relentless pressure. 1 Mayweather fight doesn't make an exciting career.

It was a fantastic punch, perfectly timed and executed.
It's just unfortunate that Hatton had to go into the ringpost like that, because that's what this fight will be remembered for, a comedic ending to a rough-and-tough game effort by a fighting champion.
But what a punch. Great for boxing.
lmaoooooo
AND YES IT WILL BE KNOWN AS THE CHECK HOOK IN HISTORY LOL...
BUT BACK TO WHAT THAT GUY SAID... HAHAH COMEDIC ENDING IF EVER. HE TRIED TO HUG THE RING POST.. HE OT HIT SO HARD HE THOUGHT IT WAS MAYWEATHER!
Floyd won't be remembered in history. Boring fighters tend not to.
There was nothing boring about Mayweather's performance on saturday, he made me a fan.
