Who has had the best end to their career?

Didn't he still win and wasn't he still the Undisputed World Champion when he retired? Please refresh my memory?:thinking: Also didn't he defeat everyone he faced? Man I must be getting the wrong dude.:confused: So you were impressed by his win against Klitschko? It must not take a lot to impress you. I thought the point of this thread was who ended there career the best/most impressive not who had a great career. I never once said that Lewis had a bad career but to end it like he did made him look like a coward for not giving Klitschko a rematch that he deserved, that's all.

So your saying marciano should lose so he can prove that he can come back from defeat? i dont really see your logic.. he is a great fighter.. Not at all, what's happened has happened. Marciano never proved he had the heart to come back just like Roy Jones is criticized for not beating any great fighters. Lewis proved "AT THE END OF HIS CAREER" he had what it takes to come back. He will always hold that distinction over Marciano. Remember, we're talking about how they ended their careers, not who had the best stats at the end or it wouldn't even be a discussion.

Lewis was like 37 at the end of his career, i doubt Marciano would have ended his career as well as Lewis if he stayed in the game 5 more years. Marciano retired because he knew he didn't have much time left. Yeah, Lewis got KO'd at 37 years of age but he proved he could gather himself together and even win by KO one round earlier than he was KO'd. And all this at 37. Marciano never proved he could come back from defeat. Can't always read purely into stats, they don't tell the whole story. So Oliver Mc Call didnt beat him in 1994 to take his WBC title. Maybe the3 world dreamed that...What he means is that both of Lewis' losses were avenged by Lewis so it's not like he got beat and the other fighter was considered better.

Yes I also agree, although Lewis was a world champion i still couldnt mention him in the same breath as Marciano. The PRIME Lewis was in an Era were the heavy weight divison was in decline. This has been the same issue when mentioning Marciano also.
