Lets forget the resume's and championships, and history...
Lets also forget the weight difference... Roy did start out at 154, so lets just for bullshit sake, that weight was no issue... just boxing skills alone..
dont say floyds to small for them to fight blah blah... just pure boxing... if they both got in the ring.... whose the better man all day?
whats funny is his last fight with hanshaw... who nobody really knew.. and at 38 1/2 was still more exciting and funny then floyd and oscar... hes still making highlight reels this late in his game
Roy Jones is the most phenomenal boxer to ever grace the squared circle. It's just unfortunate that his talent superceded all others and there is not too many great fighters in his weight division to prove himself. I'm not talking about the current Roy so don't go sayin oh he lost to Tarver and Johnson...nobody could beat Roy in his prime. He made too many people look foolish and slow. His combination of speed and power was unheard of period.
i never claimed that floyd cannot be hit, but roy's left hook can be blocked, that's for sure, especially by a master blocker like floyd. oscar's jab did land on floyd, so what? roy has been hit with jabs also. what does that mean really? any fighter can be hit, but i was just explaining roy's left hook not landing much on floyd.
and what do you mean that roy's hands in his prime are faster than how fast floyd can move? roy's hands were fast in his prime and many fighters who fought floyd had faster hands than he could move, but what does that have to do with how floyd blocks punches? floyd can stand in the pocket and block punches very well as well as counter to the body well, which roy didn't do very well, floyd has. you see, claiming if oscar can land a jab on floyd is one thing that i already know, because he timed it great. but, fighters like emanuel agaustus also land jabs against floyd. judah landed jabs against floyd. corley landed jabs against floyd. so what. this means nothing when discussing how effective floyd blocks left hooks. roy was hit by pazenza, griffen, toney and others. all i was implying was that floyd would block many of roy's left hooks, and i'm basing my argument on watching how roy threw them.
so really what your saying is, roy only has a left hook? i mean ok floyd blocks roys hook, great , grand... i think hes a got just a couple more punches in the bag... and my point of oscar hitting floyd was.. if oscars speed can get to floyd, then roy would have no problem AT ALL getting to floyd... you need speed and accuracy to hit floyd when he goes into his defensive shell in order to hit him.. all of which none of his opponents have had enough to get to floyd... but roy has the speed and accuracy in his prime to catch up with floyd... your gonna have to block more than a left hook to beat roy... its obviously all speculation we ll be here for the rest of our lives going back and forth... because both in there primes .. are absolutely ridiculous
i also have both careers on dvd, and i disagree with you...
your sincerely thinking that floyd cant be hit EVER... and your wrong.. he can... ill simply say this...
if oscar can hit floyd in the face with his jab...
then roy will really have no problem hitting floyd either... hes gonna throw a 6 punch combination... roys hands in his prime are faster then how fast mayweather can move.. but its EXTREMELY close... but floyd can be hit.... just not by arturro gattii never claimed that floyd cannot be hit, but roy's left hook can be blocked, that's for sure, especially by a master blocker like floyd. oscar's jab did land on floyd, so what? roy has been hit with jabs also. what does that mean really? any fighter can be hit, but i was just explaining roy's left hook not landing much on floyd.

if they were both naturally the same size and or weight then i would have to give the slight edge to floyd based on fighting skill and intelligence
it would be a very close fight but i think floyd would be able to counter what roy would throw at him and in the end would outbox and outsmart roy
roy would have the hand speed advantage and he is an overall beast
the fight is pretty much a toss up
and it could easily go roy's way as well
1st off, countering is defense. i bet roy wished he could have relied on his defense against tarver and johnson huh? anyway, floyd's defense gets compared to willie pep's and pernell whitaker's. hello, defense is very important inboxing when it comes to not getting hit, that's why it's called defense. floyd's vest traits are his eyes smart guy, which is why he is a much better counterpuncher than roy was and is and i have both of their careers on dvd and tape, so i can claim this. roy relied on his athleticism more than anything else, which is why a lot of his knockouts and knock downs came from him leaping at his opponents. floyd is technically sound to the core. he wouldn't have to rely on athletic ability(which he damn sure has) to defeat roy because floyd mastered the basics and and put his own spin on it, which is why he would block many of roy's punches and that leaping left hook that roy had would mean little to nothin gagainst a fighter like floyd. roy was unorthodox with his left hook against toney when he knocked him down, but against floyd whose defense is sensational like sweet pea's was, he would rarely land it if he threw it in bunches or single shotted it, it wouldn't matter. floyd's defense kills roy, no doubt about it. i've seen fights where roy showboats and made them fun to watch, but against fighters who looked suseptable against his shots and were thrown off by them, floyd is, and read this carefully, FLOYD IS A MASTER AT USING HIS OPPONENT'S STRENGTH'S AGAINST THEM, AND ROY WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT. FLOYD WOULD HAVE SO MUCH FUN WITH ROY, WOULDN'T EVEN BE FUNNY. ROY WOULD HAVE TO RELY ON PRESSURE AGAINST FLOYD, BECAUSE TACT FOR TACT, THE SHIT HE DID WOULD NOT WORK AGAINST A FIGHTER WHO CONTROLS THE PACE OF FIGHTS EXTREMELY WELL, WHETHER ON DEFENSE OR OFFENSE. ROY WOULD LOSE THIS FIGHT, HANDS DOWN, BY UD.

lets agree that... mayweathers quick defesne... quick counterpunching... and accuracy... has EVERYTHING to also do with reflexes... without reflexes you cant hit the openings, and you dont move fast enough from incoming punches... floyd mayweather is simply not old enough to lose his reflexes yet... every boxer has to rely on there reflexes or there a sitting duck
yes you can... it would be like if they were to spar... power wouldnt play into it... and muhammad ali as a heavyweight used to move better than lightweights... so ... yes you can compare without using weight
weigt st8ill matters in sparring.
ali moved quick for a heavyweightm but he was not faster than lightweight
it dont make sense, would tyson beat mayweather, it doesn`t work
The difference between Floyd and Roy isn't just power. Floyd relies on defense, Roy doesn't have to he sees the shots coming and counters you hard. Roy actually played with his opponents until he got bored. When you get criticized for being too good you know you're doing something right.
Roy was actually exciting in his prime, can't really say I could say the same about Floyd1st off, countering is defense. i bet roy wished he could have relied on his defense against tarver and johnson huh? anyway, floyd's defense gets compared to willie pep's and pernell whitaker's. hello, defense is very important inboxing when it comes to not getting hit, that's why it's called defense. floyd's vest traits are his eyes smart guy, which is why he is a much better counterpuncher than roy was and is and i have both of their careers on dvd and tape, so i can claim this. roy relied on his athleticism more than anything else, which is why a lot of his knockouts and knock downs came from him leaping at his opponents. floyd is technically sound to the core. he wouldn't have to rely on athletic ability(which he damn sure has) to defeat roy because floyd mastered the basics and and put his own spin on it, which is why he would block many of roy's punches and that leaping left hook that roy had would mean little to nothin gagainst a fighter like floyd. roy was unorthodox with his left hook against toney when he knocked him down, but against floyd whose defense is sensational like sweet pea's was, he would rarely land it if he threw it in bunches or single shotted it, it wouldn't matter. floyd's defense kills roy, no doubt about it. i've seen fights where roy showboats and made them fun to watch, but against fighters who looked suseptable against his shots and were thrown off by them, floyd is, and read this carefully, FLOYD IS A MASTER AT USING HIS OPPONENT'S STRENGTH'S AGAINST THEM, AND ROY WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT. u can`t compare fighters without taking their weight, your weight shows hows u fight, like tuaman is 220lb not going to be a dancer,.
yes you can... it would be like if they were to spar... power wouldnt play into it... and muhammad ali as a heavyweight used to move better than lightweights... so ... yes you can compare without using weight
roy got more natural ability, mayweather is talented but has worked aty it
if he didn`t have his dad as coach and uncle he ouldn`t be anywhere near roy
roy would be good under any coach he does his own thing, he got the genes
first off you cant knock roy for getting beat when he was 34 - 35... when floyd stays undefeated when hes 35, then ok... but floyd has a few more years before he can say look what happened to roy... its too soon in floyds career to compare to roys career
ill disagree that floyd is more talented then roy... just different styles... roy can throw 4 hooks in one second.. i have the video... and as far as floyd fighting into his 40's undefeated... the only problem with that is... like u said his hands.. and the older you get the less you throw... the REASON hatton has a chance against floyd.. is workrate.. and as floyd gets older is work rate will slow down... and so will his reflexes, just like james toney, as time went by and used that shoulder roll less and less...
im not saying whose better though... but were talking PRIME here... and to me there both unbeatable in there prime
