I am getting a little tired of posters who use aggression and brawling, toe to toe etc. as a means to justify the heart and desire as well as courage of a fighter.
It seems many forget that ALL boxers are courageous to an extent. When they get into the ring, there is a chance they may not get out alive. There is the chance they may sustain injuries that cause irreparable damage. The risk of never speaking again. Never eating again. Never walking again etc. is one that many of you neglect to realize. It's a risk that few would be willing to take.
I am certain if Ali could go back at the expense of being capable to just have a conversation with ones he loves, he would do so. MANY have lost their lives in the ring, both figuratively and literally.
These fighters do not have to prove they have heart. They do. They do not have to prove they are courageous. They are. They get hit for a living. That is proof in and of itself.
You bunch of punks!!!!!!!!!!:boxing:
SO, you are saying the proof of whether someone is half assed about it is whether they are fighting toe to toe in an attempt to prove they can be hit?
No. Not neccesarily toe-toe, but i think i speak for thousands of fans when i say that the sport can do without a guy like Spinks or the Dirrel that fought Stevens. JMM isnt considered a brawler, yet he executes his offense in an impressive and entertaining manner. Same for a prime Barrera.
Everyone knows they have heart...
When they say they don't have much heart they are comparing to other boxers.
ANTS are strong correct? YES.
Compared to an elephant.. NO.
get my drift.. so I understand when they say someone like arcelino or duran or judah don't have lots of heart... these guys have quit.
compared to other boxers they are lacking a lil.... compared to some regular joe they excel.. feel me?
What is the objective of racing? Too see who can cross the finish line first. Right?
It has nothing to do with me being simple minded. All im saying is, your going to take up a proffesion, and try to excel, dont be half ass about it. You have people paying to watch you perform. Therefore, u have somewhat of an obligation to fullfill.
i dont think he's disputing that point, infact im with you completely... i want to see fighters actaully fighting. but at the end of the day its important to have respect for these guys because they are doing something the vast majority of people would never have the balls to do. their are various styles of fighting, you cant please every single fan all of the time. if you dont like a particular fighters style, then dont "waste" your money buying their PPV's
Football and it's dangers are not comparable to boxing and it's perils, Deevel. That is not a good analogy.
Your right. There are faaaaar more injuries that occur in football than there are in boxing. Now thats a fact.
How do you drive like a wuss? He's racing right? He could crash if he drives fast, correct?
Very simple minded to justify wanting to see people do something that you admittedly are not familiar with doing yourself. Yet, you reserve the right to label others who do take the risk, regardless of what it is for
"wuss".

Would u like to watch a football game, where the reciever is scared to catch the ball in fear of getting hit? No, but its part of the game. Same as boxing.

Listen, i dont box because i dont like to get hit, who does? So because of that, i never persued a boxing career. Should Dale Earnhardt Jr drive like a wuss because there is a chance he might crash? Im sure he's well aware of the dangers of racecar driving, and if he felt he couldnt deal with the risks, he would've taken up a different proffesion.

No. They are putting themselves in danger for the pursuit of BIG PAYCHECKS.
its a bit of both in some fighters cases. fighters like hatton, benn, morales, barera, these guys fight for their fans and for respect and honour. its not all about green bills
WE are NOT the only one's who pay their salaries. Indeed, we are heavy contributors. It's not solely on us.
Furthermore, we can be critical however, being logical is also a great thing. Irrational critics are for the birds. Objectivity and maintaining ann understanding that regardless of who pays them, they are getting their behinds beat so we can say "he's a runner","he's the g.o.a.t.", "he's a warrior", "he's a pussy" etc.
All fighters sustain some kind of punishment every time they get in the ring. Being hit is not a fun feeling and sure, they are fighting for a reason,(ie. money, fame and recognition, security etc.) but, they are still fighting.

They are still endangering their lives. They are endangering their lives. Regardless. They may never see the paycheck, let them get hit in the right place at the right time.
it takes courage to fight for thousands and millions of dollars?? what a joke.
dude shut the fuck up. you've probably never even been into a ring. your forgetting all the years of sacrifice these guys put in before the big fights. all the fights they have for hundreds of dollars just to survive. look at guys like barera and morales, they turned pro at 16. when you were 16 you were sitting at home with your spotty face, sitting on your hand and having a wank
wow thats a little harsh mate. of course nobody wants to see fighters dance around with the aim of never getting hit... but internet tough guys who sit here and slag off a fighter whilst they tuck into their chocolate cake and swig their bottle of coke kinda pisses me off as well. there has to be respect, because they are putting themselves in danger for our entertainment

I take that same risk everytime I get behind the wheel..:lol1:
I understand what you are saying.. and I concur..
However.. There would be no Boxing and Boxers.. if there was no audience..
They do this for money which comes out of OUR pockets.. and as the people who pay their salaries.. I think that entitles us to be critical in anyway we choose

This is something that all boxers are well aware of prior to taking up the sport. If maintaining your health is something that these fighters are so concerned about, then they should/should've took up other proffesions. I dont mean to sound cruel, but its the truth.

I most certainly agree. However, it takes courage and love of the sport to take the risk. That most certainly counts as far as heart is concerned IMO.
