There has been some talk and this would be a great fight for both undefeated Jr. Middleweight prospects where one can possibly elevate to contender status...
may be a bit early but still just as interresting to see what you all think... it is very likely that this fight happens sometime in the future since both are promoted by Bob Arum's TOP RANK Promotions. (maybe late '08?)
Chavez Jr. just got a great victory and Vanes looks to keep his undefeated record goin on Dec. 20 in Las Vegas (LIVE on VERSUS TV):boxing:

dude... this is JUNIORRRR we are talkin about loll, not J.C Chavez the legend loll... JUNIOR is NOT gonna stop Vanes with body shots man... thats just funny to say the least.
watch Vanes on Thursday, Dec. 20 on VERSUS and re-think this through man ;)
Of course we're talking about Junior.
Because SR would have put him in a coma with little trouble.

Jr would just wait until he was open and hit him with the body shots.
Matirosyan would get stopped in less than 5 rounds.

I'd probably have to take Vanes. It's the one fight where Chavez wouldn't enjoy a size difference. Right now, he's still a bit too green to handle someone w/ Vanes' background. And unless Vanes somehow levels off way too early in his career, both should continue to progress at the same rate, which means Vanes will most likely remain a step ahead at least into their respectve primes.
That said, while I like Vanes a lot, he's being brought along very, very slow, at least for a prospect with Olympic pedigree.
well... i wouldn't say very very slow... i mean who exactly from the 2004 US Olympic is shining or progressing more than Vanes??
Escobedo has a loss already, Andre Ward has kinda fallen under the radar and not lived nearly up to expectations of a Gold Medalist... the others we don't even really hear about. I'd say Vanes has stayed the most active and consistent out of the bunch.

Hey man I wish him the best, Like I said most of ringside was all armenians supporting him in his last fight at the hard rock casino. He is a young kid and I hope they move him up slowly, I can see the skill in spurts but he also got caught with some lazy punches his last fight. Im all for diversity in boxing, look at how big boxing has become in the philiphines because of Pac. One always want to see a countryman do well, so they follow that fighter, then they might fall in love with boxing.
very true my friend...
Vanes is the only reason i got interrested in boxing to begin with and now I'm the biggest fan of Miguel Cotto, Paquiao, Calzaghe, Abraham, Darchinyan, Pavlik.
Armenians are a proud race and many come out to Vanes' fight not even to appreciate boxing, but to see our flag raised high after a victory, either way he sells tickets to boxing lovers and country lovers alike.
Shelly Finkel is a great manager that we believe will lead Vanes on the right path to a possible Championship, and even more important, a stay at the top for many years...
there really is no need to rush Vanes, his progress is just fine if you understand the business side of boxing and not just the excitement and KOs fighters can produce.
Vanes is only 21 and is 16-0, 12 of those opponents have been fairly solid and have had winning records. So far as a pro he hasn't lost a single round having fought over 40 rounds.
He sparrs regularly with the likes of Bernard Hopkins, Roman Karmazin, Sakio Bika, Manfredo Jr., Kingsley Ikeke... and he holds his own and at times punishes some of these guys bad in the gym...
you will see more of the real Vanes soon, his power, footwork, speed, stamina, work ethic... all these outweigh by far the negatives that Vanes has.
I may be close friends with Vanes and so i get all the bs about being biased and what not... all i have to say is this... I have NEVER in my life promoted or spoken good about something that I didn't fully believe in myself with eyes wide open.
time is key...and time will tell :biggthump

I was at Vanes last fight, he went the distance with some bum, Chavez by ko. Sorry but Vanes hasnt developed much, I will say this much though. He had alot of Armenians there, I was also at his fight when he fought on the Undercard of Rachman Vs Masqaev 2, there were also alot of Armenians in the crowd. I hope they move him up slowly because the kid can sell tickets thats for sure.

Wow!!! Nice match-up i want to see this two guys in the ring. I've seen couple of fights Vanes and JCCjr, i really can't tell who's gonna win. Just one question are they in the same weight?
the armenians have suffered one brutal knockout this year. do you really want that to happen again in 2008???
You are probably the biggest morron on this board. If we made a poll on who is the biggest morron you would get somewhere around 90% of the vote. You are on these boards constantly bitching about cowards who don't stand toe-to-toe, and how you respect wariors. Vic falls into the category of Warriors BY YOUR STANDARDS, but yet you hate on him because he is not a mexican.
So in reality, you are not a boxing fan, you are a mexican boxers cheerleader. Thats why no one (with the exception of a few margarita nuthuggers like yourself) respects anything you say, or takes you seriously.
P.S. at leaset Vic got stopped (1 punch KO) by someone who is proving to be a very good fighter, unlike another fighter that I know that got his ass handed to him by Daniel Santos.... Daniel Fuckin Santos.... Twice.
Vanes would decision or stop Cavez Jr late IMO. when people look at Chavez Jr having over 30 fights, they automatically think he has more experience, BS, you don't get experience from knocking out paid fighters that work at burger king or Mcdonalds. Vanes opponents actually fight him back and give him a tough fight. Chavez Jr. could have a weak chin or no heart that we don't know about because he has not been tested. :boxing: :boxing: :boxing:
Margarito would murder Vanes in two rounds,u dont have to be so biased
And for the fight,J C Chavez will be too much, ive watched alot of Vanes's fights, and he makes too many mistakes, like he doesnt jab,he headhunts alot and needs to settle down,he sometimes acts a bit too excited in there and bounces when his opponent comes foward,he carrys on doing that he will get hurt, hes already been down
what you watched of Vanes is old youtube fights im sure... he has come a long way from those earlier performace where I agree he was a head hunter and had no composure.
Vanes is working with Ronnie Shields now(former Holyfield trainer) in Houston, Texas and by the looks of it he will come into this Dec. 20 fight with complete different mentality and strength.
big wow he has been down once in his pro and amateur career(flash knockdown) where he got up, showed alot of heart and KOd his opponent in the same round.
What do you say about Chavez Jr. who clearlyyyyy lost a fight in Mexico but was given a gift draw just to preserve his undefeated record.
Vanes hasn't lost a single round as a pro yet, so don't count him out against anyone, especially not a soft Jr.
