floyd has typified the view that hatton vs collazo is how we should view hattons welter prospects.5 weeks prior to that fight hattons team got that the news that hbo weren't keen on the light welter match up he was training for,and so collazo became a name they would be happy to screen, the fight was made, that gave no time to grow into the weight for ricky,he came in too heavy as in fat,he was sluggish and not himself,he got thru it took some bombs and got the decision..what about mayweather vs judah, floyd should have been disqualified by his uncle nearly choking zab to death..and i won't mention mayweather vs castillo no.1 we all know who won that....any hatton fans check out ebay soon for prints of my hatton mayweather fight drawing prints coming soon..
So, he was training for a 140 pound fight, changed to 147 5 weeks prior, and still came in heavy? What kind of logic is that? Tons of boxers out there come in under the maximum weight on purpose to give themselves the advantage of speed and mobility.
Hopkins made a habit of coming in 3-4 pounds under 160 for his fights at Middleweight (he was 157 against Tito and 156 against Oscar). Trinidad did the same. Floyd came in at 148 against Oscar for a 154-lb fight. It's really nothing new. So, don't blame the fact that Ricky came in fat to him moving UP in weight with only 5 weeks notice.
Ricky could've came in at 142 or 143 and had no problem.
In my opinion the "Collazo beat Hatton" argument is pointless, because Castillo beat floyd, and the fact that Mayweather gave Castillo a rematch when Hatton didn't give Collazo one is cancelled out by Hatton beating Castillo in four rounds, so there's no point bringing either point up.
Hatton beat a super over-the-hill Castillo and Mayweather's arm wasn't in good shape, so there is no cancelling out. Plus Hatton's trainer thought Floyd won the Castillo fight anyways, so you and your reactionary thread loses.
HBO wanted Hatton fight Urango to LOOK good. Hatton was always going to have problems with a southpaw who could feasibly be a light-middleweight. He still won a UD, nobody wanted a rematch really, apart from Collazo, he lost.
Well said..Most people in England thought Hatton lost..The SKY team and even most people in the pub thought he lost, We all breath a sigh relief when he was given the decision, People started saying he won a couple of days later just to make themselves fill better...It was a controversial decision just like the Mayweather/Castillo one...Mayweather gave a rematch like he promised while Hatton didnt.
He went down to fight Urango? Are you telling me people would prefer him fighting Urango over a Rematch with Collazo to set things straight? Even Hatton knew he lost hence him saying he would rematch Collazo..Collazo isnt a big enough name to just force people to force the rematch.

it goes like this if Floyd had not gotten the decision he did against Castillo in the 1st fight which he did'nt deserve IMO ,then he would have had a loss on his record and he would have had to rematch Castillo anyway
so i dont see why after getting the benefit of the judges he should be patted on the back for rematching Castillo especially when most people thought he lost the first fight he should have been Happy to have kept his "0" and given Castillo an opurtunity to do again what he did in the first fight
no way should he be patted on the back for robbing Castillo & then have the good grace to grant him a rematch lmfao
i dare say Hatton would have rematched Collazo if the overwhelming number of people thought that he lost the fight as was the case when floyd fought Castillo 1st time around
basically niether fighter deserves more credit than the other for these performances it is just tit for tat between rival fans dont try & credit 1 and discredit the other lets just let this issue slide all will be revealed DEC 8TH
I'm telling you that HBO would rather see him fighting Urango.
Please dont insult our intelligence...HBO also prefer Mayweather fighting Bruseles? Fighters pick and choose who they fight not HBO..if he had said he wanted to rematch Collazo HBO would have said yes.
He went down to fight Urango? Are you telling me people would prefer him fighting Urango over a Rematch with Collazo to set things straight?

Hatton stated in an interview he would give Collazo a rematch but went down to 140. You could say Hatton beat Luis and Floyd beat Cas (first match) but they were both controversial decisions. However, only one of the two losers recieved a rematch to end all doubt.

i sort of agree but i dont think either should be beaten with the Collazo or Castillo stick, they both had close decisions but if people are gonna debate one and neglect to bring up the other then there is gonna be a lot of division

Wrong. The SKY team had Collazo winning the fight 114-113, and Nicky Piper, Johny Nelson and others all had Collazo winning.
who cares what Nelson ,Piper thought
Jim Watt & Ian Darke were doing the commentry on the fight
We have to agree to disagree, I ready pointed out the difference between a Collazo fanbase and Castillo fanbase during the time of each fight..Since you choose to ignore those facts then there isnt any point continuing with this discussion.
u are confusing facts with your opinion my friend ,
u can debate it all like but i bet i can find more people who thought Hatton won than what u can who thought floyd won
Fact is that Hatton Collazo was a close bu correct decision with v ery litle controversy. Floyd vs Castillo 1 was a close fight that was scored as a dominant victory for Floyd, therefore it was controversial and demanded a rematch.
And by not rematching Collazo Hatton has regained the IBF title and his status at 140 lbs, fought the number one contender at the weight (the aforementioned Castillo) and lined up a pay per view megafight against the p4p number one in the world.
Would a rematch with Collazo do more for Hatton's legacy than a fight with Floyd?
I agree with the bold bit there but what has him going on to fight PBF got to do with it? They same logic can be applies to the PBF/Castillo fight but people still bring the first fight up, He fought the guy in a close fight rematch him went on to win titles up to 154..It doesnt make any difference on the outcome of his first fight with Castillo mate.
its not just the Mexicans in the crowd, im talking about Boxing fans who were'nt even present at the fight people all over the world had question marks about the decision ,hell there were Internet sites that had him in the top 5 of the P4P rankings based on the fact they thought he was the only man to have beaten PBF, u are giving him credit for rematching him he had no choice in reallity not if he wanted to keep his cred
Ricky won the fight against Collazo & there was no outcry ,u can make up storys all u like but thats the reallity

Your logic is wrong..Collazo doesnt have the same number of fans that Castillo had back in those days, Castillo had an army of Chavez fans after the mexican legend retired, PBF did have a choice just like hatton did have a choice of rematching Collazo..The difference is PBF did as he promised while Hatton failed to do as he Promised, No excuse about HBO..People actually thought Hatton lost but Collazo wasnt big enough a name to allow enough people to write and force the rematch.

People who dislike Hatton thought he lost.
Lets look at this objectively.
Hatton threw and landed more shots than Collazo and also floored Collazo after taking the fight at 3 weeks notice in a different weight division, against the WBA Champion
Lets not get over critical.

we know why people did'nt care about a Hatton v Collazo Rematch cause Ricky won in most peoples eyes & most importantly the majority of fans eyes
Floyd did not he had no choice but rematch Castillo or he would lose face especially when the overwhelming number of people thought he was acually beaten that night
can u see the difference the Majority of people thought Hatton won but only a minority thought PBF won

What bit? Mayweather rematch Castillo...Hatton failed to do that and he got away with it because nobody really cares about Collazo..He instead he ran back to fight yeah wait for it...Orango or utango...
