of his life...he said the reason why he got rid of Manny was because not enough focus was put on sparring. He said that was the reason he was winded. He said if you don't spar for 12 rounds youre sure ain't gonna be able to fight a full twelve. He said his next training camp will be focused more on sparring. It's all about conditioning.
I dont have a link but it was in the Arkansas newspaper.
Sir, I really have to go now, it was nice PWNING you French style. :owned:
You take too long to respond.I guess you have to check up on your spelling and grammar.haha
I think in the countdown to the fight shown on HBO, Steward said that Taylor had been sparring too much before fights before he was Jermain's trainer. Steward cut down Taylor's sparring so he'd have more energy for the actual fight.
Which is total bullshit!! You have to sparr, day in and day out!! Read this quote from the great Kevin Rooney:
“I had Mike sparring 10 rounds everyday... 5 days a week! It was an all out war EVERYDAY. There was none of that one day on and one day off crap. To be a great fighter... you have to spar. You gotta spar everyday, day in and day out, week after week. With Mike, I would spar him up until two or three days before a fight.”
Thats the reason why Tyson was so great when Damato and Rooney trained him.
Bonjour Vesatile, before I get my coffee, I just want to correct you one more time. The correct way is wouldn't. :owned: :)
I rarely use commas for that, its too hard to find with my fingers. 1 point for you.Its about damn time at that.haha.
Sir, I speak 4 languages, I don't speak good English! You've just been PWNED by a French men with bad English! :owned:
Have a good day sir, I'm going out to get some coffee, it's a beautiful day. :)
No excuses on language barriers, you wanted to play the grammar and spelling game so I'll play it. Not a good idea to play it with someone that actually speaks it daily.
I corrected your ass quickly.haha. Without those a's I added someone would of thought you were retarded.:owned2:
Bonjour Vesatile, after period comes space. You've just been PWNED French style. :)
Your time will come. It's actually after a period comes a space.:owned2:
So let me get this strait, Taylor is claiming that Steward, a trainer famous for over sparing his fighters, didn't let him spar enough?
Now its straight.:)
All i know Taylor better bring his A game for a shot at Calzaghe just like he wants beacuse i dont see a trilogy with Pavlik unless Taylor wins dominatly and if Taylor wants to go back at 160
jermain is obviously correct about not being in the best shape, since he ran out of gas in the 2nd
had he been sparring more he woulda had a better chance of finishing off pavlik for a stoppage after he knocked him out - we'll never know
either way i agree with him that he didnt get enough sparring
To much sparring can definetly be a problem. Especially in the long run. to much sparring shortens a fighters career.
But he was in the poconos, and on fight night he looked physically spectacular, more so then every before.
I think the Poconos camp was the most intense camp of his career.QUOTE]
Says the guy with the Pavlik avatar, and the biggest Pavlik fan on these boards.

Steward thought he sparred to much and Taylor thinks he didn't spar enough. Someone is going to be proven correct and if Jermain get KO'd by Kelly again than well...........neither belief matters.
typical! He doesnt want to face he got KO'd i didnt even need to be prepared for 12 rds because it didnt go 12! He shoulda been in shape what he didnt know he had a fight coming up..lol..he recently fought Spinks and it went 12 so whats up with that...I think he just got whooped and needs to face the fact he is no longer the champ nor is he in the top 10 pfp hell i do think he belongs in top 20!
