People say they hate Floyd Mayweather for consistantly claiming he is the greatest, the best of all time etc etc.
Yet at the same time, they praise Muhammad Ali, (who couldnt go 5 minutes without proclaiming his own greatness) for being a personality, and being good for the sport.
Floyd and Ali's methods for rising their stock as the greatest fighter of all time are exactly the same, yet one gets praised and the other gets ridiculed.
at 22 years old ali beat a man who was considered unbeatable
maybe floyd should have said he was the greatest after he beat genaro hernandez.

Wow this thread went WAYYYYY over your head.
Take a deep breath and read it over and then maybe youll be able to post something of relevance and worth.
Fair enough. I just dont understand what the big deal is. I mean hes just a young guy thats enjoying himself. I mean shit you only live once. Its just that he hasnt been humbled yet so until he does hes gonna continue. I mean whats wrong with that. His resume may not be that great but still being undefeated, number one pound for pound, and five division champion is not something easy to obtain at once regardless of opposition you faced. If that was the case then there would be alot more fighters with those accomplishments.
If Floyd wasnt making claims like this, he wouldnt have any controversy surrounding him.
Same goes for Muhammad.

what a joke.this is about floyd,this isn't about rahman.
WRONG!
Its about comparisons between Ali's behavior towards the press/public compared to Floyds.
No wonder your so far beind.:nonono:
not with that resume, but i give him the benefit of the doubt as far as what his potential is.

no, but his claim could be respected due to the names or calibur he faced. that is the whole point of the rebuttals in this thread which you seem to ignore. we're still cool though, you comin over to play madden?
yea dude ill be over in 20.
I had no problem comprehending you, though. I STILL have yet to even make a judgment of you or your viewpoints. No REAL comprehension has been made. Simply reading and understanding what you're saying.. and countering it. That's all.
But I don't hate him for MAKING claims. My problem is that he has yet to prove them. It's a different argument, I'm just saying.
I can see why people would hate on him for that. That's all.
But my whole point is not for people who hate him for making those claims, its for the people who hate FLoyd for it and the praise Ali as this lovable character who was the GOAT.
So when Rahman knocked out Lewis if he had claimed to be the greatest would you have accepted that?

Exaclty, you read what I said an got the wrong impression.
You had a problem comprehending what I said.
The point of this thread was to try and show that there is a relationship between what Floyd is doing and what Ali did back in the day.
I claimed it was stupid of people to hate on Floyd and praise Ali.
If you want to hate ALi for what he did and hate Floyd, then at least you have consistancy in your beliefs, and I have no problem with that.

ali called himself the greatest after he dethroned liston so fuck off.
So when Rahman knocked out Lewis if he had claimed to be the greatest would you have accepted that?
YOU have the problems, it would SEEM. Considering I never SAID you SAID that.. Notice the emphasis on SEEMS? Because some of the things you say, seem to IMPLY (more emphasis) that you're arguing more for Mayweathers claims, then the reason why he should be able to to MAKE THOSE CLAIMS.
he can make ANY claims he wants.. However, the REASON he'll KEEP getting looked at in an IRRITATED WAY, is because he has YET to prove himself.

So some of you mean to tell me that if you were in floyds shoes you wouldn't talk shit?
not with that resume, but i give him the benefit of the doubt as far as what his potential is.
It seems like people don't like floyds cockyness but hey if I was number on pound for pound, have won titles in five different classes, and undefeated I would be a cocky son of a bitch too. Whats the point of having that on your record and not brag. Come on people are too damn sensitive. Its a professional sport. Athletes in other sports have claimed to be the best at what they do so why shit on floyd for it. He's a young undefeated, rich, skillful fighter who has been named as the best in what he does. So some of you mean to tell me that if you were in floyds shoes you wouldn't talk shit?
Ok, read the thread before you make stupid comments like this.
At no point did I compare the resume's of Mayweather and ALi.
I compared their attitudes towards the press and claims of greatness.
Get a clue, son.
