I too think Calzaghe would beat Hopkins quite easily, but I just don't see this fight happening, I don't think Bernard really wants it.

Calzaghe will embarrass Hopkins. Hopkins is nowhere near the class Calzaghe is in right now (I'd also say he never was). Hopkins made his name beating on little guys, maybe they were big names, but they were little guys with big names. Joe has carved out a 44 fight unbeaten run, almost half of which were world title fights, against men HIS OWN SIZE. Haters keep saying silly things like "Lacy/Kessler/anyone else will expose Joe for the slapper he is LAMO" yet not a single one has managed to beat him. Bernard seems to lose vs people closer to his own size (Taylor,RJJ), and Joe is the same size, so Bernard loses the size advantage he so obviously needs to win a fight. People are also forgetting that when B-Hop was in his prime, Joe, although not quite as good as he is now, was still using all his power. Not to mention the fact B-Hop was offered a fight vs Joe and ducked, draw your own conclusions from that one. Prime B-Hop loses to Calzaghe by late TKO. Past it B-Hop gets absolutely humiliated by a prime Calzaghe, who scores a 10 second KD, KOing him for the first time in the second half of the fight. He ducked the rematch with Jones (50-50 was a joke, if you remind that Hopkins got 300k for his first fight after Tito), he ducked Calzaghe. If you put DLH next to Hopkins he looks like a little child. C'mon Hopkins started @LHW and is a very big MW, Oscar was a SF. How can you gain a status as legent by beating a guy who started his career ~50 pounds lighter than you. Some people on these forums (only a few) have got little love or knowledge of boxing. But when a real tough boxer comes along and gets called "The slapper" after absolutley dominating 2 of the so called hardest men anywhere near the middleweight division in Kessler and Lacy. These 2 fighters were portayed as right hard cunts, Calzaghe thrashed the fcuking shit out of them, but he gets called "The slapper" ? Joe Calzaghe is (for me) the hardest boxer in the p4p top 10 and when/if Hopkins gets his act together the rest of you doubters will finally be converted. drop the word hard from your thread and you'd be right

i really dont see why people are so convinced hopkins would win in his "prime". joe is the bigger man, has far greater handspeed, great combinations and a very good chin.... what would bhop be able to do to counteract this??

I hope Joe reads these boards and realises that even if he detroys Hopkins he wont get credit for it, so why bother fighting Hopkins if he IS a boxer not in his prime ?.....Becuase its bollocks, he is in his prime, he just met a better fighter in his last 2 fights.

If Hopkins was in his prime he would have beaten Calzaghe convincingly. Now, they are somewhat evenly matched and the fight could go either way. When exactly was Hopkins in his prime?

Fcuk one of the excuses already being prepared aye ? i dont know that its an excuse. i agree with this. 10 years ago hopkins i think would beat calzghe, though not easily, and not pretty. i think hopkins still has a chance to beat him, but calzaghe has a chance to beat him too. and calzaghe would have a chance to beat prime hopkins too, but i think b-hop would take joe if they were both in their primes. thats who i would pick anyway...
