we seen Cotto out box Judah and took Mosley's best punches, but how would Cotto do against a high volume punchers like a Paul Williams or a Antonio Margarito?
Both Williams and Margarito have bigger body frames, taller, longer reach. How would Cotto react to them?
I used to think that Margarito beats him. I still think it's somewhat of a toss-up fight but then I remember Sebastian Lujan against Tony on ESPN and he was giving Margarito hell in the first 6 rounds. Now you can somewhat compare the Argentinian's size and style to Cotto but Cotto is one or two levels above him.i'd say three levels.
My personal feeling is that as Cotto starts fairly slow then a volume punching fighter with good mobility can capitalise and build up a lead in the first four rounds. If the fighter goes to the body early they can take some of the power off Cotto's shots for the duration of the fight and push the fight at pace throughout.cotto isn't the slowest starter in the world, these guys at welter aren't tyson either.
Matthyse was ruined by the time Williams was done with him...
Dude, I don't remember Paul Williams ripping Mathesse's head with an uppercut and a devastating right straight punch THAT LEFT THE MOFO ON THE MATT FOR 5 MINUTES. Kermit "The Killer" Cintro was the one to ruin Mathesse's career. You are delusional when it comes to Paul Williams... :pat:
A lot you all talk about a person walking through a person punches that shit isn't as easy as yall trying to make it seem like. A fighter may be able to take another fighters punches easy. But the fighter taking those punches rhythm gets broken and they are still chasing. If the fighter throwing those punches has good movement that completely throws the other fighter off. With that good movement more times than not by the time the fighter walking through the punches is set up and ready throw their own the other fighter has moved and they have to chase and try to reset their feet again.
Yes they usually catch the other fighter a few times through the fight but walking through punches ain't as easy as yall making it out to be.

Now dont overrate his power now. Paul Williams landed flush shots on Matthyse all night and didnt get him out of there till the like eleventh, while Cintron put him to sleep with one his first shots that hit him. Margarito was more frustrated than kept at bay. Youre going to back Williams regardless of what i say, but bottom line is, he is the weakest of the champions. Cotto being rocked at 140 is irrelevant to him at 147 its not like he has a glass jaw. Zab's one punch power is greater than Paul's so getting hit flush by Zab and just being rocked not knocked down is nothing to be dissapointed about.
Matthyse was ruined by the time Williams was done with him. I never said Paul would knock Cotto out in one shot, just that he CAN punch harder than guys like you give him credit for. When he sits down, those slingshot hooks are stinging. His great KO ratio is proof enough. He's more likely to sit down in spots against Cotto than a guy like Margarito. Cotto is much easier to hurt. Weakest of the champions? No, he's better than Cotto. Cotto can't outbox him. Williams' height forces Cotto to fight inside. His only hope is to break his body down, which he can't do while being blasted with angled uppercuts and fast hook combinations. Williams is an excellent inside worker for being so tall, and his ranged game is just as strong. Plus, I say his chin is tougher based on the Margarito fight. Miguel can't beat Paul Williams unless he hurts his body. Because of that, he opens up a world of opportunities for Paul to punish him. Think the first round of the Judah fight, only it will happen slowly and MUCH more often. Paul doesn't turn into a clam when he gets hit, he fights back harder. He would outwork Cotto 4-1. There's no way Cotto can overcome what Williams presents.
Paul Williams punches harder than a lot of clowns give him credit for. His uppercut is particularly devastating. Cotto's biggest weakness is his open-ness to be hit by an uppercut. It's ignorant to say that Cotto, who's chin is much weaker than Margarito's, would "walk through" his punches. They kept Margarito at bay until he got desperate and Paul got a little tired. Cotto would get rocked by Williams' shots, no doubt. It's the accumulation that would get him, though. He can't handle Paul Williams.

No way Paul's slaps hold Miguel off. Favorite fighter or not, lets be real, Cotto walks through the slaps, and breaks Paul's ribs, easiest fight out there for Cotto if it comes down to it.

Wouldn't happen, G. Cotto would get hit with about a bazillion uppercuts right on that tender little chin of his. His knees would be shaking like Michael J. Fox. Paulie would do what so many others couldn't, and that's finish him off.

cotto chops dave chapelle in half like he's paul bunyan by the six round, margo gets outboxed

Williams would TKO him, no question. People still don't understand what Paul Williams does and is capable of doing. I know Miguel Cotto. I know what he does and can do. I know what he can't do, and that's beat Paul Williams.
Margs would likely beat Cotto as well. Cotto would have to assert his jab and move around constantly to win.

I'm not comparing the fighters. I'm comparing the way a fight with Floyd would play out.
So more of a Cotto-Mayweather vs. Baldomir-Mayweather comparison.
Ok, I got it already, we're cool.
Good enough. After the Cotto - Baldomir comparison, for a minute I thought you were high on LSD.

I'm not delusional; I recognize that Floyd would have to tiptoe around Cotto to eek out the decision. No way is he gonna open up consistently.

fair enough.

Hey. I said slightly more exciting becuase it would be more effective pressure from Cotto. But still it would be Mayweather being ultra-conservative and potshotting.
fair enough.
I think you you right to the point.
But it not like Cotto is going to dominat him he would box him most likely
I will be the first one to get really pissed off at Cotto if he makes the pathetic move on fighting a bum like Baldomir. There is NO REASON AT ALL. The guy is a fluke and Floyd took advantage of his luck to score an easy fight. Cotto got more dignity and self-esteem. Baldomir should retire and get help. He got Parkinsons and Cerebral Palsy too.
Dude, I had said this a hundred times... Baldomir got Acromegaly and it is imposible to KO. Still, he will lose since he lacks so much of other good things including speed, power. He beated judah cause he was underestimated and judah thought he was going to KO him early. But I think it will take power like Cintron's, Pantera's or Pavlik to put Baldomir in the matt for the 10 count.
