Cotto's father was a military man, so his attitude and seriousness passed on to his children. Still, Cotto is a cool guy, he just expressed himself differently than Tito, they are different people.
They are very different people. And, no, it is not Cotto's fault, just how he is and how is was brought up. But damn, the guy has zero personality. Boring as hell when he speaks. Very hard to love. Good think he is a warrior and a very good boxer. That is about all there is to love about the guy.
Wait.. so you like the fact that he doesn't give 3 flyin fucks about his ppl?
False premise. Bound to happen when you just make shit up as you go along, knowing jack shit.
Tito was the better guy in every way. I'm black and I got stirred up by the pride and strait up intensity that dude brought to the ring. Cotto is just a different kind of personality. not his fault, but it doesn't draw me to him as much for that fact.

i like cotto better, he fights for himself, he doesn't give 3 flying fucks about his people, but tito its the most proudest puerto rican i've seen in boxing, when he won against dlh everybody in p.r was in the streets celebrating with tito nd shit, but you don't see that with cotto, he keeps his shit to himself. :fing02:
You dont see that with Cotto? Well it happened last week when he returned home. Parades, the whole nine yards.
TRUE, TRUE, TRUE.
About Pantera, he was known to local real boxing fans, BUT after Panetra kicked Green's ass... specially after all the shit he said about Panera, he won the heart of most PR boxing fans. He is cool with me, and if he ever becomes a better boxer, I will love to see a rematch agaisnt Pavlik.
BTW, I knew Pavlik was good, but after he destryed Pantera, he earned my deepest respect. I made 1,000.00 when he beated Taylor.
Yes, that fight against Green was great. And, although not a 'true' Puerto Rican, he does display similar love for the Island like Tito did. I really think if Pantera does well in the future and becomes a champ at 168lbs, he will be another hero of the Puerto Rican people.
Miguel Cotto is already a household name in Puerto Rico. He may not have Tito's charisma but he is well known, liked and supported on the Island. Let him get 1 or 2 big wins and he will easily be held on the same pedestal as Tito.

A short simply reply is.. no. I have no idea why anyone would think Cotto is disliked in Puerto Rico. He may not have the "next door neighbors kid" appeal that Tito had but his popularity is rising quickly. A Cotto fight is already an "event" that most people watch much as was the case with every Tito fight since 1998. He is also on TV all the time to promote his non-profit charity (to fight obesity in children).
the slaves where also brought to south america by the europeans, that's why there is an amount of blacks in south america.
I am from south america and more slaves came here than anywhere else. 65% of all slaves came to brazil.
Funny how most people think that if they don't speak english, then they're not african. But africans don't speak english

Don't get me wrong, I like Cotto, but he does not seem to be the pride of Puerto Rico. Trinidad WAS the pride. He fought for PR. Cotto is a great fighter, but he fights for himself. Puerto Rico loves him, but it is far from the love they had for Tito.
Tito! Tito! Tito!
hell i even question if Miranda is Colombian, that ni9ga is so fukin dark, he looks like hes from Nigeria or something lol...joke, i know hes Colombian.

Oye Bori, is Williams already back in PR training?
Yep. He trains in the Wilfredo Gomez gym in Bayamon, same gym that Calderon and Oscar use for their fights.
I love how Addison has had a change of heart about Cotto. Three weeks ago Cotto in his eyes was a scum, mediocre, all hyped up fighter. Good to see how he wins em over.
I think that Cotto is the up and coming heir to the title of Pride of Puerto Rico. Just because he doesn't show the love and devotion that Tito showed doesn't make him any less Puerto Rican. He may never be as loved as Tito but he'll still be remembered and treasured as a fellow countryman that made it to the top. He's a good role model for children around the world, his determination and heart is something to aspire to.
As for Pantera, well let me put it this way. If a child is adopted by a family and he calls the man of the family dad, is he truely? If he calls the woman of the house mom, is she? If in turn they both call the child son, then it must be. Just because your not born somewhere or to a group of people doesn't mean you can't be adopted. If they except him and he in turn excepts them then its called family. Doesn't matter where he was born or where he is from, he's part of the fold. Love'em or Hate'em but he represents Puerto Rico with pride and I personally agree with calling him one of our own.
