I don't see anything wrong with picking fights to make the most money for yourself. These guys are putting their health on the line everytime they step in the ring, so of course they should be looking to make the most money with the least amount of risk. If we want to see the best fight the best, we as fans have to be willing to spend money to make these fights lucrative for the fighters.
This is the reason Mayweather would take the risk to fight DLH in a division he doesn't belong in, but won't waste his time with a guy like Margarito who many people don't even know. This is why Mayweather will fight Hatton next and not fight Cotto. This is a sport, but it is also a business.
There's nothing wrong with it really, its a problem invented by impoverished mexican boxing fans :)
There wouldnt be the most money involved in those fights if the fans didnt want to see it.
At the same time, dont pretend like it makes you the greatest of all time.
For and some others that maybe true but not for all. Also its not always PBF's fault that certain fights didn't get made but majority of the time he receives all the blame.
It has to be expected. Anybody who is good at anything has to accept the scrutiny and jealousy that comes with the territory. I personally think it is a small price to pay.

Not only that Tredh, but it also has alot to do with what he says he will do come fight night, and what he actually does. Its like waiting to see the most anticipated movie of the year, then when u finally get to see it, you're like "all that waiting for this shit"
The hate isn't for calling himself the greates it's for not backing it up.

I need to ask somebody old to read this site and others to see all the hate PBF get for calling himself the GOAT. I will ask them was a young Cassius Clay and Ali this hated and judged for making that same claim. If he says no then all the hate PBF receives to me will seem like bullshit. But if he says Ali was hate on that much then I will have no more problems with some of the shit people say about him.

Yes I agree... But if you are ONLY chasing the money fights.. Dont tell me you are The GOAT... The Fights that make you the GOAT aren't always against Guys who have The marketable name...
You don't get it do you?... It's the Hypocracy that people cant stand...
You're right, the balance a boxer must strike is between making good fights and lucrative fights. It is unrealistic, if not unreasonable, to expect boxers to fight in tough matches all the time but it is patronising to talk yourself up when the quality of your opponent and/or the quality of your work does not back these claims up.

Theres nothing wrong with being a businessman. but if you're constantly choosing the safest opponent, then there is something wrong with calling yourself the #1 p4p fighter.
If fighting for the money is what your in the game for....cool. But dont say that your the best in the buisness, when in fact you avoided some threatening challenges in order to chase a less threatening/money fight.
I look at old tapes a lot and there were so many boxers back then and each was willing to do what ever it takes to make it to the top.
If that meant getting knocked down 10 times and fighting once or twice a month then that's what they did.
But the new gladiators are now business men and the Bwanas don't like that
for the fighters, it's fine
for the fans, it can suck.
but not always. ray robinson was a businessman, but he fought very often and against most of the top fighters around him.
Thats because Ray Robinson and all those guys before and many after him were fighting on a different pay scale.

Absolutely nothing. However, fighting for the most money can be counter productive in establishing legacy. Its all about what the fighter hopes to achieve in his career. Unfortunately, it seems like heavyweights are the only ones that can do it at the same time.

I have no problem with boxers looking to make as much money as they can from the sport. It is a short career and they have a responsibility to themselves and their families to make as much as they can.
