Important Q

i just want to make sure there is no confusion about my idea. pretty much the only things that would be unacceptable on the "serious" board would be as follows. 1. outrageous personal attacks. you dont have to make it a secret that you dont like someone. you can call someone out if you were right about some disagreement. ideally, someone would say, " i think you are wrong because" and attempt a rational arguement. But, your an idiot because of this, or ,you are making a terrible argument, here are the flaws in it, arent ideal, its not a problem. i just dont want pointless attacks relating to someone's sexuality, country of origin, and other stuff that is clearly very innapropriate. It is the internet, i entertian no delesions that everyone will be courteous all the time. 2. attacks on a boxer that are clearly made WITHOUT ANY ATTEMPT TO MAKE A RATIONAL ARGUMENT. it is very easy to distinguish the people that are trying to make a point but are just a little arrogant or mean from the people that make no attempt to be logical and make rediculous posts (sometimes in the form of arguments) that just try to piss people off. if anyone has suggestions, by all means let me hear them. But right now i envision a board being created for "serious" posters that are willing to not make OUTRAGEOUS personal attacks and will refrain from deliberately making an illogical post that attacks boxers without any sort of justification because you know it will piss people off. so there isnt much to ask at all. even the people that are ass holes and are currently ruining the board, all you have to do is stop making posts that contain extreme personal attacks or that are lacking any degree of reason on purpose to piss people off. making a bad argument is no big deal, it happens. deliberately making a terrible argument to piss people off will not be accepted.... if you think this is a good idea and would like to see it be given a chance, you can help me out by 1. expressing your approval for the potential board, and 2. nominating people that you feel have earned the right to be trusted in identifying unacceptable posts. thanks.

yeah we are deff on the same page DWiens421. i would even allow slightly more leeway for intelligent posts that are slightly inflamatory. my only objective is not let the idiots that are trying to ruin this forum achieve their goal. i think most people will agree on this.

I agree with this... there is nothing better than an angry, mean-spirited debate between two intelligent posters, as long as it sticks to the subject. Cocksuckers like JoePal, Joart and Peso are the fuckers who are ruining this forum.

good point counterpunch, thanks. in response, i would give everyone a clean slate, offer them entry into the board. But maybe a three strikes and your'e out policy. And i repeat, i am not trying to stop good arguments. 99% of people know the difference between an arguement and a flame(im not saying u arent one). If it is borderline, a warning can be given. But this isnt to screw people over, everyone will be welcome until they continuously make posts that obviously were created to start fights and not give a somewhat legit arguement. People dont even have to be "nice." again just no blatant flames. This also gives the flamers a chance to use that board if they ever have something to contribute, and if they want to be dicks they could continue to use the old forums.

Personally I think this is a dumb idea because basically what you're saying is you wanna take all of the good debates and discussions out of this forum and lock them away somewhere where only certain people can access them. Every forum has people who hate, flame, act stupid etc, your suggestion would do nothing but make more problems than are already here. How are new members gonna get by if they have one forum full of junk and people hating on everyone and flaming eachother, and then another forum with all the good stuff in which he isn't allowed in? How is he supposed to prove that he isn't argumentative or a hater when the only place he can go is where is full of them sort of posters?

it doesnt take a genius to be a serious poster who does not deliberately start fights. iq test would not be nessessary

thanks for the encouragement dwiens. to reiterate, I in no way want to eliminate arguments, all i want is for the people who constantly make flame topics to be excluded from one particular board governed by the site's most respected posters. not only do haters and flamers clutter up the board with rediculous inflamatory topics solely intneded to start fights, they enter in topics inhabited by people making rational arguments and throw the topics off track. I know this would be somewhat subjective, but i believe standards could be created to fairly determine who should be allowed on the "serious" board. For example, "Floyd ducks everyone, he will never fight cotto because he is scared as hell, imo he is the most overated boxer of the last 50 years." This is a flame and enough of these should disqualify someone from the "serious" board. However, "I think Floyd has made some questionable decisions about just who he fights. He was offered 8 million to fight margarito and turned it down. I know he has beef with Arum and claimed to have a severly bruised hand, but I believe that Floyd may have been scared of his power. And while i do not deny that Mayweather is a very skilled fighter, no fighter is invincible, and he has not faced great competition at welterweight as of yet. If floyd starts to fight the best in the division, and hatton isnt a bad start, and is successful, i will respect him a lot more. If other fighters like Miguel Cotto continue to move up on the latter, and PBF refuses to fight them, i will lose a lot of respect for him and begin to question his p4p title." That might not have been the best example, but it is a decent example of 2 ways to say the same thing, one is a flame that will do nothing but start a fight, and one gets your opinion acrosss in a respectful manner that is consistant with a good boxing discussion. let me know, i personally dont beleive it would be hard to decide who runs the board because we have a lot of great posters, and it is clear who the flamers and pure haters are. plus, i believe some boards are private as of now anyway, it wouldnt be a huge change.

this is rather a good idea, a post where only mature conversation on Boxing goes down, no spam threads making jokes about shit.. a forum where opinions get shared amongst the more serious members of the forums and all that dumb shit gets left aside, no arguing just debating and sharing opinions, agree to disagree but hating shouldn't be allowed, dick riding posts and non sensical posts should get deleted immediately and the post should be reduced from the post count of that member and if continued then the member should be banned.. sounds like a great idea to me but I seriously doubt it will happen, I would love it though because I know there will be no bullshit talk going on and real threads will get made with real cats dropping gems on Boxing.. 100

Sounds great! As long as I get an invite. The only problem is, a lot of the hating is merely in response to other hating going on. I have turned myself into a hardcore Antonio Margarito hater recently, because his fans are the biggest bunch of fucks I have encountered. I suppose if I didn't have to deal with their shit on a daily basis, I could turn myself back into someone who respects Margarito. This really is a great idea though. Hopefully a mod sees it and gets it going.

I love this site and most of the people on it, but there are soo many haters who do nothing but bring drown the level of discourse and ruin great discussions. I propose that there is an additional board created for the site, and all members vote on a group of reps for that particular new board. Those reps could then send invitations to posters who have intelligent things to say and do not attack other people and constantly hate on boxers without justification. Basicly an invitation only board for serious boxing fans. Let me know what you all think. If you are a hater or a flamer, dont bother replying for obvious reasons. it will not a forum then, debating,arguing is part of the fun of being in a forum. if you take that out then everybody will be agreeing with each other, Zzzzzzzzz whats the point?
