He did a good job boxing from the outside against a similar sized Mosley. Williams' height nullfies Cotto's jab. He would be moving inside, chin exposed, trying to get to the leaner Williams' body. That is where it gets for Cotto. Cotto is still very vulnerable to the uppercut. Paul Williams throws them liberally, and from many angles, with precise aim. Williams' punches don't look like much as far as power is concerned, but when he gets set, he can change a guy's viewpoint fast. His awkward, yet extremely effective, offense makes it difficult to see many of the punches coming at you. Williams would probably fight Cotto similarly to how he fought Margarito, only being less hesitant to sit down on his punches, because he knows that he can hurt Cotto much easier. The accumulation of Williams' constantly active, aggressive assault, would gradually break Cotto down.
Williams by late TKO
P Will is a real good welterweight. Not as good as Cotto. He is to lanky and Cotto's body attack would be to much for P will to handle. Unless Pwill has an great night and Cotto has a bad one. I just don't see both happening in the same night.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....... nah...
Are you crazy? Cotto is better than anyone at this moment. Next Saturday you'll see.
Next Saturday you all will see how strong cotto is. He has all the skills to be at the top as the best pound by pound in the world.
You, the writer of this article must be crazy and will be more crazy when you see the next fights of Miguel. And then you probably change your point of view.
Contact me i will bet hundreds of dollars, Cotto by TKO or decision anyway.

He has no speed, he has no defense, he has no chin.....blah blah blah
Paul Williams is feather fisted, he won't KO anyone much less be able to beat Cotto. Keep hating and pointing out his flaws but Cotto keeps beating them and making you sick everytime he wins.
Your Williams vs Margarito prediction:
And Williams beat him, you got me there my man... But who would've thought Tony would start fighting after the 4th round and chased Williams around instead of cutting the ring off. Can we agree that wasn't Margarito's typical aggressive style? Who you think would win a rematch?
Busy outworkers can be beaten...
I watched Winky Wright fight Angel Hernandez and JC Candelo, and they were basically 24 of the exact same round. Hernandez/Candelo threw a bajillion punches, and Wright blocked nearly all of them, and countered. He got the decision, even though he threw drastically less.
Floyd would do even better with the judges, because punch that lands flush/is blocked is difficult to separate for ringside judges sometimes, but a landed/ducked punch isn't too hard to differentiate. Floyd decisions Paul Williams I think.
Anyways, back on topic... Cotto would get outworked in this fight, because his defense tends be a bit lacking for him to be able to fight an elite outworker. He would get hit a lot.
I think TKO is on-point too, because Williams is not a feather-fister, he just takes a while to wear someone down.
i think it depends who is scoring the fights tho, the opposite happened in Ponce vs Penalosa fight. The people that scoring the fight dont have any guidelines to follow to know who winning the fight. It just a matter of personal view and what style they like to see (ex, defensive counter puncher type or throw nonstop kind of fighter) . And If they like a fighter ofcourse they going to be biased and give that fight to the fighter they like.
:lol1: :haha:
Did'nt you pick Margarito over him as well?
I think margarito lost because his usual slow start, I think a rematch would go the other way. But, Cotto is not Margarito, let's give Cotto his props. And we all know Williams is not at Cotto's level. At least for now.
Cotto would murder Williams. Don't be fooled by height. there have been WWs Williams's size before, and better ones. Cotto would destroy that torso. Taking such a fight now could ruin Williams's career.
Great assessment!!!! Maybe later in his career, but as you said not now. It would not be a smart fight for Williams or for anyone right now, but Cotto has to fight someone. Why people think Mayweather is ducking Cotto? Is not fear, is career management.
It would be real hard for Cotto to do much body work with Williams landing flush uppercuts on that lace curtain chin of his. The Cotto dickriding is understandably high right now, but a blind and deaf mute could tell you that Paul Williams is a horrible matchup for him. Big Pun has the goods to make Cotto look pedestrian.
As far as being proven goes, a win over a primed, super-dangerous Margarito is more impressive than a win over an old Mosley and a ruined Judah. Margarito would wax Mosley and Judah. Miguel better have his PF Flyers on if he does decide to fight Tony, otherwise he's gonna find his balls in the vice real fast.
Cotto's chin is mediocre, but good enough to handle a pillow-fisted guy like wWillimas who gets no leverage on his punches

lol its funny how people act like williams is still some up incoming fighter, he has two more fights than cotto, cotto has fought the better fighters overall, but with williams solid chin punch output speed and accurate punches, Id favor him over most welterweights, Im not hating on cotto if they were ever to fight and cotto won I wouldnt be shocked in the least.
Many here think Cotto is just an upcoming fighter too, and Cotto has beaten better names than everyone currently at WW. The truth is that Paul Williams has faced only Margarito. Until he proves himself with the best, he is still a promise, prospect. He needs to show more.
Out of all the names in the division, Williams doesn't possess the tools to beat Cotto. About Cotto's jab, we didn't even know he's jab was so good. And know we talked about it as his strength? Cotto would love to go inside of Williams to neutralize Williams jab. Yes, Williams is going to get uppercuts in, but I bet Cotto's true strength for this fight, RIB BREAKING BODY PUNCHING!!!! I think Williams, as good as he is, stands no chance, especially with no power or speed.

He beat the crap out of Mosley. The reason why Mosley fought scared was because Cotto's punches were powerful, stupid.
:wtf: Are you serious?? Did you even watch the fight???

hmmm how about the body work cotto would put on him?
right now id like to see williams fight any of the big names right now except for margarito. i think margarito would beat him in the rematch
