Shane made it a close fight and he had his moments but to me he definitely looked his age.
If Shane was 7 years younger he would have beaten Cotto no doubt.
Lol.. ofcourse prime mosley would take out cotto.
whoever doesn't agree is in denial or is puerto rican.
It's just harder to know than what u think. If we would be so sure about that, then we need to ask ourselves that for all the fights that have taken place. Boxing is like that, there is age differences, generation differences and great ones will fall, and new superstars will raise. (only to fall again)
Props to Mosley for a great career. Props to Cotto for his climbing career and unlimited potential. (But don't forget all the other guys in the division)
cotto will get his respect but i really didn't see mosley's speed like i thought he would have, cotto did not impress me, he is a come forward fighter with strong punches, i don't know what happened to mosley, good fight though,
maybe it was his age
I know what you mean, man.. That was frustrating. :grr:
I was screaming at Shane alot.
Not taking away from Cotto but a younger Shane would beat him. The Mosley I saw was getting beat to the punch by Cotto who isn't that fast himself. I knew after the 5th round that Shane would lose. That was the key to the fight being first and Shane wasn't fast enough.
Cotto is an elite fighter. I don't wanna see him in against DLH or any of the older stars. Step up and say you want the winner of Hatton/Mayweather. Or fight Cintron, Margarito, or Paul Williams. He's too good to be fighting these old fighters and beating up on them.

I've gotten a chance to see part of this again before it cut out on me.
Early in the fight Jack Mosley is telling Shane to swing his shots so they'll be harder. He asks Shane why he isn't using his jab more and Shane pauses for a moment and says "I don't know." As the round begins Kellerman comments that Jack asked Shane how he was feeling, and Shane responded (unsure tone of voice) "allllriiight."
Again, in the later rounds Jack Mosley is telling Shane very basic fundamentals about punching. :banghead:
For WHATEVER reason Shane held back just enough.
He could go at least 2 gears higher overall, but even when he was fully active and alert that was enough for him to control the action. If we put together a mini reel of all Shane's worst moments in that fight it would look pretty fucking bad. I remember sighing relief on initial viewing that Cotto didn't do more damage to him at various points when Shane was clearly flagging.
In the later rounds several times Cotto cleverly grabbed Shane and violently wrestled him a little bit to try and shake some energy out of him. It was clearly effective. The most disputable action rounds were the 2nd and the 8th, and Shane had Cotto hurt in the third and DID NOT CAPITALIZE like he said he would. We all know about the 9th.
With intense discrimination in my scoring I have Cotto winning this fight.
In other words, 2000 Shane eats Cotto for breakfast.

The 36 year old Mosley gave him more than he could handle, and if the scorecards were in favor of Mosley, it wouldn't have been a bad call. Many people had Mosley winning the fight by a slim margin. That's why I'd love to see a rematch, and yes, the Mosley that beat DLH would definitely beat Cotto.
IMO, his age doesn't matter.
He was losing when he tried to brawl.
He was winning when he tried to box.
30, 37... Mosley the brawler loses, Mosley the boxer wins against Cotto.
what fight were u watching Cotto was to good for him when he tried to fight inside then in about the 5/6round he started to box but then Cotto started to take over even more when he was backing Shane up ,Mosley had his success when he backed Cotto up and had the centre of the ring his most successfull rounds were the last few rounds where Cotto backed up voluntery & let him have the centre of the ring

i think so. Mosley was more hungry and elusive back then. im not taking nothing away from Cotto, he put on a great performance. i just think Mosley would have beaten him back then.
If you're talking to me, please.. Cotto's at the stage in his career where Mayweather was when he fought Gatti. I honestly believe that if Cotto fought PBF how he fought Mosley, it would be easy work.
I honestly believe you forgot to watch the Mayweather DLH fight. If the Cotto that fought Mosley had fought PBF on 5 de mayo Floyd would still be looking for his two front teeth because floyd was hungry for some Jabbing that night and Miguel would feed them to him right.
i posted that on the wrong thread.
Your Floyd obsession is definitely getting out of hand to the point where you begin sleep walking and randomly posting shit about him in irrelevant topics. Good luck with your sickness.

Mayweather doesn't need Cotto or Arum at this point; they both need him.. He's the #1 Welter Weight, not to mention p4p fighter in all of boxing.
