Quartey-Trinidad

I posted on this subject a while back. Here's my post & what I was able to find: I did some research to find the exact reason why Quartey was inactive from his fight with Jose Luis Lopez (Oct.1997) to DLH (Feb.1999). What I found was that he was scheduled to fight Sweet Pea on 4/25/98 but Pea tested positive for coke & that fight was scrapped. Quartey was then matched up to fight the guy Pea beat in his previous fight but Quartey refused to sign the contract to fight that guy. He then went into negotiations & signed a contract to fight Tito in 98' but was sued by Main Events (I believe they had options on him) so that fight was halted & Quartey was offered the DLH fight. Ike had been out of commission for a over a year but was rumoured to be VERY sharp in training for the DLH fight. DLH then had an "injury" & the fight was pushed back & Quartey was out of action for almost a year an a half. That's good info thanks. I always thought he was in some sort of mini retirement for thinking he was robbed in his last fight. It sucks the fight didn't happen. We can also blame Winky Wright for beating Mosley and ruining the potential Mosley/Trinidad fight.

This is the true definition of a pick'em fight. I have no idea of who would win. I do know that both would probably get dropped a couple of times.

What if they fought today at 160? That'll be an entertaining fight. Fight should've happened 10 years ago. I got my boy Quartey in both instances.

Hopkins wasn't as imposing as Quartey would be. And Hopkins jab is/was nothing like Quartey's jab. Quartey's jab was a power punch that could split guards & mark your face the hell up. And at Welter he was so much physically stronger than most that he was imposing. He had the strength to put Tito on the back foot & if you back Tito up you can beat him. :theyareon
