I would say madison Square garden because it is more neutral for Joe than Vegas would be, but I do think that the fight should be in the USA. if Joe want this fight it will have to be because there is no way B-Hop will fight in England, for fear that he couldn't win a decision over Joe there. The brits will travel to come and see Joe, like they do for Hatton so MSG would be more neutral than Vegas would be.
Whether Joe admits it or not, Hopkins is the much bigger name in this equation. Same as it was years ago when Joe wanted Hopkins. Joe's popularity is increasing in the States, but most people have only seen him fight Lacy, Manfredo and now Kessler. I wouldn't be surprised if some casual fans think he's just breaking into the sport.
They will think that until he beats Hopkins.
Hopkins won't back down on his demands so if this fight is going to happen it'll be in the US. If Joe really wants it he'll have to agree to Hopkins' terms.
......I think Joe is coming to the states for this one.
Hbo says Hopkins ducked him so don't fucking attack me asshole, do you got fucking roid-rage or something?
I didn't attack you, I'm sorry, you must associate the word "fuck" with anger. You'll see it thrown a lot around here. No need to resort to name calling, I never insulted you.
Seriously though, you're going by HBO's "word"? The same guys who built Jermain Taylor up into some type of boxing savior? The same guys who called Marco Antonio Barrera a "coward" in his last career fight? The same guys who think Miguel Cotto is an elite fighter?
And even if it were true (Hopkins priced himself out) did Hopkins not deserve the bigger cut of the pay being the star at the time? Why would he risk making a title defense record, move up and avoid guys like Tito and Oscar, to have some guy on his resume whom nobody knew years ago?
It makes no sense to me, the worldwide boxing audience only just learned to pronounce Calzaghe's last name correctly last year.
I voted for Millenium Stadium, Wales since they will get a massive live gate.
The only chance of selling out a place in the USA is if JC's fans travel out. Look at the crowd for BHOPs last fight.
It should be in philly, because philly is such a beautiful state and I would love to watch Calzaghe live at that stadium in philly beating the ever living crap out of hopkins. Fucking duck someone that long and still won't got 50/50, Hopkins deserves an ass beating in his home town.
Who the fuck was Calzaghe back when he was all on Hopkins' back in Hop's prime? A win over Calzaghe meant nothing then and Hop was still doing his consecutive title defense streak at the time. Even now most American fans don't know shit about Joe, but the HBO exposure is helping.
Like Hopkins was supposed to be starstruck and go fight Calzaghe in wales when back then he was getting guys like Trinidad and De La Hoya. Who in their right mind would pass up those fights for Calzaghe? Who at the time had no standout victories to his credit mind you.
anyone thinks Calzaghe's fans will follow him like Hatton?
nah i dont think calz would get that many travelling fans. hatton does because he is from manchester and supports man city football club. so he those football fans thus the singing.
calz is getting quite abit famous, but no where a big name in terms of sport. although he may be from the ekssler fight.
i guess soem welsh people would go to america but welsh people are poorer than english people.
Doesn't matter, Joe won't leave Wales and Bernard is too smart to go over there and risk a bum stoppage ala Manfredo, or a bum decision infront of a hometown crowd. Same reason Joe won't come to the United States, because of fear of a bum decision.
They both need to get their shit together and fight in Canada.......
fuck canada they should fight in japan
I don't really care...I say it's a dull fight that Calzaghe wins easy.
B-Hop is just a name now...where was Calzaghe's balls before Hopkins got old?
Now they want me to believe he grew a pair?
I'd say Madison Square Garden New York, because it's an international city right on the Atlantic Ocean and the presence of international media will make it a more bi-partisan event.
Yankee Stadium, New York.
yesss.. de lay hoya said its very possible ..and since they aint gunna be usin it 4 baseball no more -- they might as well u se it 4 sumthin
