Hey fellas this is my first thread. obviously there is gonna be a range of age on the forum so people will have seen different fighters in different eras, im just curious as to the best fighter each of you guys has seen since you started to follow boxing. Im 22 years old and i've been watching boxing since I was 9. The best fighter i have witnessed is without doubt shane moseley. the guy is arguably the best lightweight of all time and his speed, combination punching, chin, heart and boxing skills are undoubted. There was a point when he fought oscar de la hoya where people were actually sugegsting he was the greatest P4P fighter of all time..... anybody else agree?? who you all got????
I'm 14, been following boxing for 2 years. The best fighter in my lifetime i guess would be Floyd Mayweather, but i goatta give props to Benard Hopkins when he was in his prime.
I'm 22 years old and I've been watching boxing since I was probably 7. I have seen a bunch of fighters and I really couldn't put down to 1. So here's 5.
Shane Mosley
Oscar De La Hoya
Julio Cesar Chavez
Pernell Whitaker
Lennox Lewis
Roy Jones Jr.
Floyd Mayweather
Bernard Hopkins
Manny Pacquaio
Felix Trinidad
Floyd Mayweather is much the same as MARMITE, you either love him or hate him. I think that should be his new nickname. I personally hate him as a person or the way he comes across but as a boxer there is no denying he is a phenominal boxer one of the greats.
yeah agreed his in the ring skills cant be denied but his attitude and demeanour kinda suck... come on guys there must be more opinions than this!!
lennox lewis, soon it will change too miranda.
hey man im a massive lewis fan, got his career dvd collection... i think only in 10/20 years will people actually appreciate how good this guy was.... all the attributes to take it to any heavyweight in any era. im gonna go out on a limb and say a prime lewis is top 3 of all time and has every chance of beating Ali and Louis
im at work at the moment mate but when i get home i'll definitely check it out... thanks a lot for that much appreciated!! i've been looking at this site for a few weeks trying to get a feel for the atmosphere.... im surprised theres been nobody shouting mayweather's cause! he seems to evoke strong emotions on this site from his lovers and haters.... where do you guys reckon he ranks over the past say 15/20 years??

He was an animal. His will to win was incredible. Pryor - Arguello is a great fight if you want to watch him at his best. Just for you the tale of pryor vs arguello in 4 parts.
Hope you enjoy this.

I think Leonard had the better hand speed and combinations but had they ever fought Pryor would have tore him apart IMO.
Check out youtube you should get some good fights of Pryor on there. There is a good one of Aaron Pryor vs Thomas Hearns fighting each other in the amateurs.

i love reading other guys opinions on this kinda stuff. michael nunn was a great fighter, i guess he'll be best remembered for dominatin toney though and getting himself knocked out... shame really awesome talent. a fighter i'd love to see more of is aaron pryor, amazing hand speed and combinations... would you say he was better than leonard in that department?

I am almost 36 and have been watching boxing since I was 8 years old that's 28 years nearly. I have been lucky to witness many many great fighters throughout the weight divisions here are some of my favourite great fighters I have been lucky to watch fight.
Myung Woo Yuh - WBA light flyweight champ, 17 defenses, lost title then regained it made 1 defense and retired with a 38-1 record and beat some great fighters.
J.C.Chavez
Aaron Pryor
Roberto Duran
Thomas Hearns
Sugar Ray Leonard
Marvelous Marvin Hagler
Joe Calzaghe
Roy Jones
Pernell Whitaker
Meldrick Taylor
Larry Holmes
Mike Tyson
Lennox Lewis
And so many more if I thought about it for a while longer.
But the best I have ever seen not in terms of achievments or domination but the best naturally talented boxer who should have achieved greatness but never quite did was Michael 'Second To' Nunn. As for the best fighter overall it is too difficult to pick.
My fav fighter is Hagler. But I never got to watch him. I started watching boxing in 1996 when I was 10 and Mosley is the best I've seen. I PRAY he wins on Saturday.
#1 Joe Calzaghe
#2 Mike Tyson
#3 Felix Trinidad
I'm 27 btw.
wow lot of support for joe recently, the dudes definitely up there though, great all round boxer
hey im a massive fan of duran hence my name!! and i gotta say i agree, duran is probably the best lightweight of all time but mosley's skills can't be under-estimated.... a prime mosley v duran at lightweight is a dream fight!

Duran is the best lightweight of all time.
