I heard it wasnt even a punch when Gamboa was off balance,i hear it was a PUSH,alot of websites are saying Gambos handlers where furious when the ref gave a count
"In the fourth round, DeJesus appeared to push Gamboa to the canvass, but Santore Jr. counted out a standing-8."
Oh well, mistakes happen :p Gamboa is a beast
Yan Barthelemy seems to be having trouble, unlike Gamboa hes not fighting top class compitition, and he has no KO's
I was there, it was a legitimate knockdown from a right hand when Gamboa was getting sloppy with his own shots.
Hey ryan, is Mayorga a nice guy???
I've met him about 4-5x...the dude is mad cool. Can be a bit intimidating when you first approach him (he always has that scowl) but he's always obliging to any requests for pics or autographs or to even talk. Once he recognizes you, he opens up.
aznsensation, i really like what your doing bro.. keep it up.
wut exactly is your job tho, i have a love for boxing, and i am a bit envious of the fact that you can meet all these fighters and interview them
He is a nut case! Didnt shutup the entire fight. Cursing and yelling throughout each round!
I'm not sure if you saw it but was he more annoying than the fan in the Quartey-Wright fight yelling "Ike Ike Ike BAAAAAZOOOOOOKA!" every round?
thas wassup, I always wanted to chill with Tito but I never got a chance, one time when he got stranded in NY just before 9/11 and the fight was post poned to the 29th he was in my hood, he was up and down everyday threw the whole city but spent most of the time in my hood I just never got a chance to see him, a lot of my friends got a chance to really chill with him on some get to know him type shit, he was in the streets with the people like it was nothing I just never got to cross paths with him.. I did however got a chance to meet Jose Chegui Torres, my father grew up with him in Puerto Rico and one time he made a public appearance in my neighborhood, him and my father talked for a long ass time about common friends and family, it was cool when I think about it now but I was too young to really know the legend who I was meeting.
great pics yo it must have been a blast, I met a few guys in local gyms like Saul Mambay, Juan LaPorte, Luis Resto and Antonio "Chelo" Diaz but no current world champion like the ones pictured above with you, if you stumble across Viper again ask him if he thinks he will be moving up to the Middleweight Division within the next 2 or 3 years, I would love to see him face Abraham, Taylor or Pavlik.. 100
Cubans Gamboa and Barthelmy Arrive in America
A right hand caught Gamboa off balance and put him on the floor for the first time as a pro.
Gamboa answered the call with sound messages in the fourth and fifth round, until finally a ruthless flurry at the beginning of the sixth ended the night for DeJesus. Gamboa's mark now stands at 7-0 (6 KO), while DeJesus's record fell to 19-3 (17 KO).

Cubans Gamboa and Barthelmy Arrive in America
For most of the international crowd, the only fights of consequence were the United States professional debuts of Cuban defectors Yuriorkis Gamboa and Yan Barthelmy, both 2004 Olympic Gold medalists. Barthelmy (3-0) proved to be superior to his opponent Kevin Hudgins, 5-11 (2 KO), but little else. Over four rounds, Barthelmy displayed an inability to maintain distance, using his jab just to kickstart the southpaw left hand that seemed to be the focal point of his offense. Barthelmy was unable to hurt his foe during the bout, but won all four rounds en route to an uninspiring performance.
Gamboa may be a different story. For the first round of his bout, Gamboa appeared to be the Messiah of Boxing. With a style not unlike a young Roy Jones Jr.'s, Gamboa dispensed with the jab early, choosing instead to pot shot and overwhelm his opponent, Adailton DeJesus, with breathtaking effectiveness. Before the end of the round, a perfectly-timed lead right deposited DeJesus onto his rear for an eight count.
Gamboa's blazing start may have taken some of the gas out of his engine, as slowly but surely DeJesus began to feel his way back into the fight. By the third round, Gamboa was beginning to get sloppy, which gave DeJesus the opening he sought all night.
