Taylor better find a pair of good track shoes because he is gonna be running for his life in the rematch. The only way Taylor will make it 12 rounds is if he turns into Michael Johnson and sprints around the ring away from Pavlik. Taylor is gonna do everything in his power to stay off the ropes because we all know by now that if you fight off the ropes against Pavlik, you are going to sleep with the fishes. If you think Mayweather's running is bad, it might be nothing compared to the track meet Taylor will put on in the Rematch. Mark my words, Taylor will not exchange with Pavlik and he will not go toe to toe, he is scared shitless of Pavlik now and he is probably having nightmares every night about what happened to him on Sept.29. Even if Taylor runs, he is still fucked because Pavlik's long tree trunk jab and missile right hand are gonna find Taylor's chin and put him to sleep again.
Kelly Pavlik by brutal 5th round KO
taylor will try to follow instructions better it will be good for him i think he was doing well just ate to many punches...he needs a little hand block intergrated into his basic skill set
Instructions like " Hey Jermain!! When he hits you and everything goes black , don't fall down!!!!"
GOOD IDEA BUT i DON'T THINK IT'S GONNA WORK!!
Lets not forget he sat pavlik on his butt also!!! Taylor can still pull off a win here against pavlik!!! Taylor also showed pavlik isnt unbreakable by dropping him!!!
I had Taylor up by 1 point going into the 7th. He was fighting Pavlik's fight and doing a very good job of it until he got smashed with that right hand in the 6th. The first one that really, really hurt him. After that, his reflexes were down and he was moving his head a lot slower, which caused him to get stung in the 7th. No excuses, though. He should have done what he had to to survive the fight. I don't necessarily think Taylor will win the rematch, but we ARE going to see what Jermain Taylor is made of now that he has tasted defeat. Maybe that person is better than Kelly Pavlik, maybe not. We find out in February.
Jesus, people act like, when Taylor wasn't winded and had his game plan in the front of his mind, he was winning the fight. And he ONLY got winded, because he ALMOST finished Pavlik... in the SECOND ROUND. Acting like it was an easy, one-sided fight, is becoming VERY annoying.A lot of other refs would have made most of you forget about Pavlik as a quality fighter all together, so just think about it like that. If Taylor had hurt him, in the second round and been smart in trying to get rid of him, he'd have been pulling away, MORE on the cards, because after 3, he was leading, on ANY unbiased cards. He had the first and second, completely, and then it was close in the third, though I gave it to Pavlik. I DID, however, give Taylor the fourth, too.. So, he wasn't ever really out of it, until he happened to get stopped. In a rematch, if Taylor plays it liek those first three rounds.. forget Pavlik winning. He could even get STOPPED in that fact. Am I pickking Taylor, I'm not so sure yet.. I've been back and forth, but don't act liek it's SO open and shut.

Kelly Pavlik by brutal 5th round KO
You, like everyone else, is focusing on the end result fo the first fight. You forget that Pavlik was one punch from being knocked out in the second round and he was taking shot after shot from Taylor until the ko loss. The rematch could go either way, including ending with Pavlik getting koed, which, mark my words, is more likely to happen than Taylor getting koed again.

since when the hell has Jermain ever been a runner? his automatic instinct when he gets caught on the ropes is to explode forward with punches, he landed quite a few punches that way.
If Jermain was really so 'scared' he wouldnt have taken the rematch. Pavlik was already practically scheduled to fight Duddy and everything, its not even like Jermain was obligated to fight him.
Pavlik wasnt exactly flawless either. He was split seconds away from being stopped. Im sure he'll have that in mind, although I dont think it will affect him that badly.
Jermain is a nice guy. Why pick on him like this??
Why would Jermain be scared, it'll be 4 against one again. Pavlik will be fighting Taylor and the 3 HBO judges who will be out to get their cash cow the title back. Taylor has been given more gift decisions than ALi!!! In the last fight everone including his corner thought he was losing the fight badly yet if he had finished he would have gotten the decision. Taylor knocks a show boating Pavlik down in the second round and gets an ass kicking the rest of the fight yet is ahead on the score cards!!! If you looked at Taylors face after the fight it looked like he was hit with a couple of wooden mallets, no surpise there who took the beating. I really believe Pavlik has to knock Taylor out again or they'll steal his title, he won't win a decision no matter how bad he pounds taylor
Taylor actually fought Pavlik very well off of the ropes...
to me his main problem was simply holding his left low while standing still in front of Pavlik...
Taylor has decent defense and head movement
What are you talking about, Taylor has below average defence. He keeps that left hand way too low, leaving his chin exposed for a powerful missile right hands from Pavlik. Taylor obviously has a Death wish.

I don't care if Taylor is a nice guy, this isn't a personality contest. Taylor may be nice, but he is also borderline retarded for accepting the rematch clause so soon. Taylor may not be scared of Pavlik right now, but he is gonna be shitting himself on fight night. I am sure Taylor is currently having nightmares about getting KTFO.
Forget about that 2nd round knockdown, Pavlik was fighting carelessly leaving his chin open to get cracked and it almost cost him. Pavlik will not be careless in the rematch and he will destroy Taylor even worse with the additional weight.
Pavlik KO 5
But you care about Wlad Klit personality so much. Double standard
what many of you don't realize is that it was Taylor's own flaws that allowed for a lot of that to slip threw, if he would have just stood out of those corners and never once get trapped in them he would have kept on fighting, if he would have lunged more when he bobbed and weaved those 1, 2 combo's from Pavlik would never have found home because not only would Taylor have been out of the way he would have been in postion to counter and mount his own offense but by just moving your head and pulling straight back (ending up on the ropes) he allows for the longer armed Pavlik to come in and have a party because if one 1,2 combo backed you up the other one directly after that will do the same..
Taylor for the most part was winning the fight he just lost the mental battle, long story short Taylor has to do the following to win A) stay off the ropes B) move his head better C) grab BOTH arms when he clinches D) don't expend so much energy on shots that will land on the arms and elbows because when time comes to land the face and body shots he will be punched out E) take a knee next time he's hurt like that.. everything else he can pretty much do the same because it was working for him, even with all his mistakes he was winning the fight so imagine with the improvements at a bigger weight, he just has to fight his fight and not let Pavlik's gumby frame trouble him, be patient and use the A threw E improvements I wrote above to out do Pavlik..
either way he deserves WAY more respect than whats being shown to him because it takes a confident man to come straight at his conqueror without any tune up as if to say I should have won and now I will, if not that then he deserves respect for being a class act and giving all respect to Pavlik, accepting his loss and keeping it pushing.. 100

Yeah, I see the fight the same way. Taylor will throw meaningless jabs and will be Gun Shy. Once he gets a taste of that right hand again, he'll put on his track shoes and try to survive. I still think Taylor could beat everyone at 160 except for Pavlik.
