Some blame has to be on the list made by the poster.
Floyd fought Gatti and Corley at 140, so why is he even on the list?
DLH's biggest fights (which he lost) were at welterweight, jr middleweight and middle weight...why is he on the list?
Don't put a great fighter in the poll JUST because they happen to be great and just so happened to make a stop at the weight you speak of.
Hopkins is great, but not a great 175lber in history. He is a great 160lber...
Shane is great, but not an all time great 154lber in history...
focus on the guys who created legacies at those weights over a period of time
Pryor was not invincible, he got dropped multiple times. He always got back up to win, but the fact of the matter is he left himself open sometimes and could get hit flush. Chavez was a pinpoint puncher, and always broke fighters down.
If there was a mystical fight between them, I would choose Chavez. Chavez was much more durable. Pryor was relentless, but I think he would get hit a bit too often in every exchange and be worn down over the fight.
and Arguello was an outstanding fighter and a great win for Pryor, but lets face it...this was his 4th weight class, and a little bit near the end of his career(theres no way I would call him shot though). Thats like saying Kirkland Laing deserves to be an ATG because he beat Roberto Duran...at 154lbs. Not saying it wasnt a great win, but just keep that in mind.
Chavez dominated a practically undefeated Camacho, beat the shit out of a tough as nails guy in Greg Haugen, beat up a prime oustanding fighter in Meldrick Taylor(although this is controversial, so he gets some points off for it I suppose) and tried hard for rematches, stopped the best version of Roger Mayweather, who was on his best winning streak of his career after beating Vinny Pazienza, stopped an undefeated Angel Hernandez, and went to a draw with Miguel Angel Gonzalez even though he was past his prime. not to mention a shitload of good contenders.
he had 18 successful title fights at L Welterweight. dont talk to me about Whitaker, that was at Welterweight. and the controvesy regarded the Taylor fight...remember that this was 12 rounds. if it had gone 15, there would be 0 controversy. Taylor would have been gone by the end. this matters...if a lot of old fights were only 12 rounds, wed be ridiculing Joe Louis for losing to Billy Conn.
Pryor = Roids
Chavez = Roids and fixed fights
Hatton = Roids
Prime Kostya Tszyu > Pryor,Chavez and Hatton put togeather.
He would knock them all out in one night.
END OF THREAD
Where is that thread "stupidest statements you have seen on NBS" when you need it.
You still believe in that "mix" conspiracy? He's always fought like that before and after the first fight with Alexis. That conspiracy was bogus.
nobody knew what the white drink in that fight ?
but he made history from that with water only in the ring law.
But He is a beast in the ring but if it bogus or not cant really tell ofcourse he took something different but nobody knew what it was.
Interesting, people had a problem with that so he quelled all discussion by tearing Alexis up in the rematch. I love how people make statements that benefit an agenda, without stating the full story.
well the drink that he drank was suspectable and it will alway be. Yes Aaron Pryor without that case is the best 140 pounder with title hold but in that point it will alway be the case.
But I dont know if he used it through his whole career or only in that fight.
anyway I voted for Mayweather because I think he could beat them.
Aaron Pryer was a beast and could do many thing he boxs, slugges it our and pressure fight his fight with Alexis Arguello was one of the best fight.
Chavez > Pryor
one reason is steriods that Pryer used.
as for joepale it enough that a respectable magazine like the Ring Magazine and Boxingscene website consider Floyd highly. Even if he is not number one he is at least the 3 best fighter p4p in million of people. and if you disagree on that you are an idoit.
It enought that everyone is aware that Floyd Mayweather is the person to beat or they wont be calling him out would they?

No "prime elite fighters", huh?? lol You are just plain ignorant.
Hector Lopez, Jake Rodriguez, Hugo Pineda, Diobelys Hurtado, Miguel Angel Gonzales, Sharmba Mitchell I, Zab Judah......these were all great fights against elite fighters.
Joey me boy, please be totally honest. Do you agree with this post?
I'm going to say this again: AARON PRYOR! For fuck's sake! How the hell is he getting 2nd place to Chavez who Pryor would have demolished. Frankie Randall did a number on Chavez. Imagine the kind of punishment Aaron would have inflicted on him!
It took an elbow to the temple and a return from retirement to defeat Pryor. 1 defeat (by then a recovering addict).
True, in his prime Pryor was as close to unbeatable as you can get. He could pressure, he could hit, he was fast, and he could BOX. With more hunger than anyone else in the sport he wasn't going to let you win no matter what you did.
Who are the editors of these forums? A-M-E-R-I-C-A-N-S.
Most ASIAN fighters dont have Floyd in their p4p.
hoooo, even british and other place knows the Mayweather is the best out there that is why Piony are trying to compare Pac at SFW with Mayweather to make there fighter bigger and that is why everybody want to fighter Mayweather. It is no mystery.
it enough that there is the ring magazine which is boxing most respected magazine so STFU
and how is most asians are you talking about?which magazine or reporter?
107 voters ,, I think results would be a lot different if there were a 1000 or more votes , with 107 your probably looking at least a third of them are votes from nut huggers , it would be good if in these polls you could not vote for your favorite fighter , it would force a less biased and more subjective view into the result .
In reality, ANY poll is going to have biased views. It's human, people can't help it. You have to detach yourself from it, before you can be honest about it.
Time for another update:-
J.C.Chavez has 35 votes and way in front
Aaron Pryor has 26 and has edged away from Tszyu
Kostya Tszyu has 19 and has dropped off the pace
PBF nuthuggers have gone into 4th with 10
Hatton Nuthuggers have slipped to 5th with 8
I said they factored in excitement, along with resume, skills, offensive output, etc.
And who said the most exciting fighter can't be the best fighter?
No one... but you said that they don't have Mayweather in their P4P lists, because they like excitement.
Seems to be disqualifying Mayweather because he is not exciting, which is completely subjective in a P4P best fighter rating.
How is excitment subjective?
Surely you get excited with Jordan and a naked Ms. Universe, right?
It's subjective when you are trying to establish who is the best fighter pound for pound, not the most exciting pound for pound.
Well, Asians have a thing for exciting fighters, can't blame them.
They live for interesting times, as the saying goes.
I can blame them for factoring their excitement bias into a "supposive" objective P4P list.
