MANNY PACQUIAO WANTS VALERO NEXT!
By Matt Goldstein
With rumors swirling that he will move to the lightweight division and possibly fight multiple title holder Juan Diaz, Manny Pacquiao now claims he wants to stay at superfeatherweight and fight the Venezuelan knockout artist, Edwin Valero. At 22-0 with all of his wins coming by way of knockout, the power punching Valero has been fighting overseas in Japan because he was previously denied a medical license to fight in the U.S.. Last year, the Pacquiao-Valero fight was being discussed as possibly taking place in Macau China at a new Steve Wynn casino hotel. Pacquiao has many lucrative options such as Edwin Valero, Juan Diaz, David Diaz, Jaun Manuel Marquez and even the winner of Joan Guzman-Humberto Soto; all of which would be acceptable fights for hard core boxing fans. Will Pacquiao fish his wish and fight biggest puncher anywhere near 130lbs? Source: Philboxing
this could be a dark cloud with a silver lining. check it: pac beats valero and gets a belt. now jmm cant complain about not getting the champs piece of the purse cuz is a champ too. makes the fight easier to happen and makes it more negotiable.
Just wanted to share this excerpt from Philboxing.com - PACQUIAO WANTS VALERO NEXT.
"We actually have plans to move to lightweight division. But after my fight against Barrera, we had a (post-fight) press conference. Valero suddenly came in and said he's the only one who can beat me. I said to myself, wow!" said Pacquiao, eliciting laughters from the crowd who graced yesterday's news conference at Del Sol Room of Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel.
"He has a very impressive record. Of his 22 wins, 18 of which came by knockout in the first round. That's how tough he is. But I'm not afraid of him. He's the type of boxer I'm willing to go after," added Pacquiao. "He really wants to fight me and for that I will stay as a super featherweight. Maybe he's looking for an early defeat against me."
They have plans to fight Valero in 2008, but only if he (Valero) fights someone worthy. Too many money fights offered and the Valero matchup, though very much wanted by pure boxing fans wouldnt push thru if there's no money in it. if pac chose to have a tuneup at SFW again, I bet it will be with another Mexican and Im looking at Soto, whom Manny said he wants to fight to avenge his brother.
Not to mention Honda doesn't want to lose his golden goose (Valero) too soon. He knows Valero is still green against a peaking Pacquiao. But money has it's way of changing people's decision. So let's see what happens.

Edwin Valero is overrated man. He ain't shit. Manny would put it on him for 12 rounds. That's if he can survive.
undie valero would decapitate most fighters any where near his division.he's got 49 percent shot, just cause manny is manny.
I've been following him since his sparring videos were posted on Youtube a while ago, he has flashes of greatness but he is very sloppy at this point. Don't get me wrong, I think Pacquiao beats Valero but if Manny slips. Valero has the power to put him in real trouble. His KO streak has really put him back technique wise, he is now just looking for the KO all the time. I think a loss would actually be good for him at this point.
Haha, if you actually saw him fight. He has great skills in the ring, if he could fight in the US, I think a lot more people would take him seriously and appreciate his skill. At this point though he has sort of gotten away from using all of his skills so he can keep up the KO streak.
Valero skill? No I don't think so. The man throws stupid combinations just waiting for a counter blow from a very fast and powerful Manny Pac.
Valero has no skill. The man just punches. Paws his jab out most the time just waiting for a hook to land on his chin.
This fight won't even last 4 rounds.

so where have you seen him?

vancouver is beautiful from what iv'e seen, depending on when they have it if they have it there, im there.
It really is a nice city. Some friends and I head up there once a year for a long weekend of partying! I don't see why a Manny Pacquiao fight wouldn't be big there either. It has a huge Asian population, including well over 100,000 Filipinos I heard.
If Manny doesn't take this fight seriously, I can gurantee he will regret it. Edwin Valero is underrated and has one punch KO power. If Manny does take this fight seriously though and comes in prepared, at this point in Edwin's career, he could be overwhelmed. Either way though it will be a good fight and Valero will not go down easily.
If the Manny Pacquiao that fought Barrera shows up, I'd give Valero a decent shot at taking this.
Ain't gonna happen, Manny will switch to a higher gear that Valero doesn't have. Its like Ferrari Lamborghini vs. Ford Mustang baby...lolz :D
There's also been a lot of talk about staging a Pacquiao fight in Vancouver, Canada. That'd be cool 'cause it's only about a 4 1/2 hour drive from where I live! It'll most likely be in Macau like you said, but there seems to be big interest for doing it in Canada.
