Isn't that what Pride Fighting is?
P.S. Totally off topic, but if you look at Joe Rogan and Lou in the still frame before you press the play button, they both look like they smoked a huge joint or have down syndrome or something. I chuckled over that.
there arent as many thoroughbreads in MMA as there are in boxing. Guys like Manny Pacquiao and floyd mayweather have perfected the art of fighting with thier hands and have been doin it since they were childen. Most mma guys come from a particular backround and its very clear that they only excel in certain aspects. MMA has such versatility I dont think you will really ever see 2 super skilled throghbread fighters go at it with each other for high stakes.
Unless GSP and Anderon Silva go at it.
ufc vs boxing is like football ( soccer ) vs a game where you can score anyway feet hands head might sometime be exciting but mostly looks sloppy and would get boring.
Agreed.....I'm not worried about UFC v. boxing at all. UFC can be interesting at time, I'll admit, but still...it usually ends up with two guys rolling all over the floor. Hardly in boxing's class at all for the viewer.
Coooooosign that one
Give me a break, that is not a fair comparison. Amir Kahn is a prospect who was being fed an opponent to beat in his climb up the ranks. He may be a very popular prospect, but still only a prospect. The fact that they got 8 000 for that fight is extremely impressive.
UFC on the other hand put on a major fight card that would have been a PPV if it wasn't in England. That is EASY to sell out. If the UFC made a fight card where the main event was a prospect who was still 3-4 years away from even getting a title shot and he was fighting an opponent who had no chance of beating him, there is no fucking way they would have been able to draw 8 000 people.
ufc fight night finals feature upcoming fighters and it always sells out none of these fighters are ranked in the top 10 of the ufc ratings, at the end of the day the ufc is getting more and more fans. The main card of the upcoming ufc 78 does not feature a world title bout but is already close to being sold out, as for kahn next to hatton he is britains most watched boxer prospect or not, the gullible british think he`s going to become an all time great.
stop being so biased i have followed boxing for years and have been to many title fights i have also started going to see the ufc and am very impressed by the skill fitness and technical ability of the fighters to give you an idea of how populer the ufc has become, amir kahn the pin up boy of british boxing fought at the 02 in london the crowd in attendence was appx 8,000 two weeks later the ufc held an event at the 02 it was a sellout with 22,000 in attendence, and the ufc are holding events every 2 to 4 weeks and selling out every time boxers are skilled at one form of fighting ufcmma fighters are skilled at most types of fighting your streetfighters would not last 30 seconds with them.

Well put mate.

ufc merely took some streetfighters and organized them into a business. ufc is just that, a business, boxing is a sport. There is no rational basis for comparison.
Well put mate.
watching that has pissed me off. why does there have to be a debate ??
the sports are different so there is no point comparing.
i don't see people comparing nba to nfl so why compare boxing to ufc
excellent point!

Boxing is a business, AMATEUR boxing is a sport.
both boxing and ufc are great sports the differrance butween the two at the moment is the quaulity of matchups. With the ufc the fights are more evenly matched, us fans are letting boxing get away with the champions fighting unworthy opponents for easy risk free money the only way to stop this is to not subscribe to ppv and do not buy tickets to go and watch the fights live do this and boxing will get there act together in other words two good evenly matched fighters pay to watch, champ against no hoper fuck them and spend your money elswhere.

My point exactly, so how can anyone say this sport is dying?
Fan support is dwindling at the club fights. Unlike football and baseball players, there is no real money for the journeyman boxers so of them are bums looking for a quick paycheck. Just because Oscar De La Hoya makes 80 million dollars a fight does not mean that boxing is in good shape.
Can't we all just get along!!
I like boxing first but I do like UFC aswell! I like both but will always put boxing first! I don't see where they are alike. They are completely different and draw hardly any comparisons!!
Joe kept sayin that boxing is one aspect of fight, well REALLY if you want to say that UFC is REAL fighting, there should be no fuckin rules dont you think?
