I can never understand in boxing how a boxer or boxing can be referred to as 'sweet' or preety.' In boxing you bludgen your opponent about his skull and body until he cannot stand up any more. And avoid having this done to yourself because you cannot bludgen your opponent about his skull and body if you yourself are compromised or incapacitated. How anything about that is sweet and pretty I dont know but that is boxing the rest of it is dressing and ornatements.
What is the most convincing way you can win a win a round in a prize fight? Would you disagree with me that it is bludgening your opponents skull and body with an abundance of brutallic powers shots perhaps even even knocking hm down once or twice?
With Mayweather and alot of these 'sweet' 'preety' sugar' guys you dont get that. Mayweather doesn't go into a fight, a round with that intention. He uses ornatements, a relativity he establishes with later day technicalties and politics to gagner descisions and keep his status thanks to his patrons in media.
He rightly deserves the criticism he gets from fans because he doesn't deserve to be the focal point in boxing.
I said that because ricky looked horrible at 147 against collazo, a guy that isnt even that great. hiding or not, hatton fights better at 140, ala Gatti.
So what you are saying is that the P4P #1 fighter should accomodate a lower ranked fighter? Since when has that been the thing to do? The challenger has to come to the champion. With you saying PBF shouldn't make Hatton come to 147. Do you feel that De la Hoya was wrong in making PBF come up to 154, using a smaller ring and worst of all using gloves in the hopes of making PBF hurt his hands?
I was agreeing with your post until that wildly inaccurate comment.
Floyd has been the one fighting bigger men his whole career, and Ricky will be the bigger man in their fight.
Don't blame Floyd just because Ricky has chosen to hide at a lower weight class.

I see your point.
There are different styles to boxing.
But Fake Floyd's resume isn't THAT stellar. His resume lacks a lot of the elites that should have been in his resume.
Also there is still no substitute for a KO.
Add the fact that he insults the sport by calling himself the G.O.A.T.
His resume isn't that stellar, you are right. most guys he beat that are considered great fighters were past their prime, except for maybe castillo, but from what i've heard that decision was questionable, but im not going to try and talk about a fight i didnt see myself. as far as the goat, that just makes me laugh. he doesnt even make top 10 on my list. maybe if he beats all the major players at welterweight. he doesnt even need to go undefeated either. if he loses then comes back and wins a rematch, that's fine. just beat guys in their prime and dont force them to come up in weight (hatton). fact of the matter is, though, floyd is undefeated and does a great job marketing himself. dont know if he is #1 p4p, but he is darn close. i think that #1 spot is because of the skills he has, whether he has used them or not.
From what i have seen from Floyd, he tends to win his fights by capitilizing off of his opponents mistakes. Its not like he goes in with intentions of bringing it to his opponents. I personally dont like the guy, because he tends to avoid confrontation in the ring. To me, boxing is a physical/confrontational sport, and if your gonna have guys like Floyd who go in the ring to play it safe, then its kind've hard for me to respect him as a fighter.
I can see this point, i definitely can, but floyd is a boxer, some guys are brawlers, some guys win by volume of punches, some guys are punchers. All these have their place in boxing. Without the different styles you would never get to see anyone transcend to greatness when they are forced to fight outside their style, ala Corrales going toe to toe with Castillo.

Whitaker has been p4p #1 and was considered to have been robbed in his fight against Chavez who was #1p4p when they fought. Shows how much you really know because Whitaker has been on PBF level and past it if you ask a few old timers who are still around.
Your hate of PBF is biased and blind just leave it alone. We all understand that you don't like or respect PBF but because you are biased in your assesments of him you can not make a logical arguement against him.
f**K your ring magazine p4p rankings. He was nowhere near the level notoriety that Mayweather is. Nowhere near the focus point in boxing. Like I said he was off to the side as something different with maybe a cult following off diehard supporters.
In his prime boxing was fixated entirely on the heavyweight division in the mainstream.
I havn't seen Willie Pep fight enough to say that and Whitaker was never elevated to the status that Mayweather is to merit my attention. He was never the focul point in boxing. He was something different off to the side to see. With maybe a cult of diehard fans.

Does that mean that Willie Pep and Pernell Whitaker were not fighters of substance?

Floyd lacks substance to be considered a great fighter. Other fighters who had his ablities (Robinson) used to them to inflict damage on their opponents rather than just a rely a miniscule amount of offense relative to a lesser amount of effectve offense by his opponents.
Substance in boxing is landing a shitload of power punching in a round, noticeably hurting your opponent multiple times, knocking your opponent down. The most convincing and indisputable ways to win a round or fight.
Exaclty. Pure genius. This is what I've been trying to say and very few people have the wisdom to see it.
It's all about what his opponent doesn't do rather than what he does. And so he wins pathetic fights by running like a chicken, throwing less than 30 punches per round and hugging ala J. Ruiz.
And to think very few people have the wisdom to see beyond this facade. Goodness gracious!
Lol you've never seen a Mayweather fight. You are a joke man. Stop acting like you know what you're talking about.
Doesn't need to? Lols.
Another excuse coming from an idiot like you. Yeah right.
Fake Floyd doesn't need to prove himself anymore. :D
Freitas, Casamayor, Kostya, Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Mosley.
He doesn't need to prove himself anymore.
yeah right. :D
He dominated 130 and beat arguably the best 135 pound fighter. After he beats Hatton, he beat the best 140 pounder. Everything he does at Welterweight is icing on the cake. You're bitter that your man is not first p4p. Go ahead and keep bitching, nothing will change.
I'm pretty sure he bludgeoned Gatti... I agree with some of your criticism, but just because floyd is not a brawler doesnt mean he isnt great. I would love to see him in some wars, but that's not how he fights, and no one has forced him to fight that way, yet.
Oh, and about sweet - it comes from a quote by a writer or reporter in which he called boxing "the sweet science of bruising". and about "sugar" - sugar ray robinson put bludgeonings on plenty of people. check the history of the guys with these names before making such a blanket statement.
I thought it came from Robinson. It's said he killed 2 men in the ring and one of the most important fights to his career, the fight he won the middleweight championship, the 6th against Lamotta the last 3 rounds the 13 round, what was sweet and pretty about that? Tell me?
Floyd's wins are more often than not about what his opponent doesn't do as opposed to what he does to him. It's relative. Winning based on relativtiy is not greatnest it does not deserve the accolades he gets from the media who make him the focus point in boxing.
Your hate for PBF is terrible. Are you sure it isn't more of what PBF is doing which isn't allowing the other person to do what they want to do? I think its more of what PBF is doing.

Your are a fucking fool if you really believe that bullshit he wrote is "pure genius". Please name me all the fights PBF supposedly ran in because truth be told he didn't run versus De la Hoya or Baldomir. You are making it seem as this is all he has ever done. But I am willing to admit that he moved more in those two fights than any of his previous fights. Saying he ran in those 2 fights is a overstatement. If that is what is considered running what do you all call what De la Hoya did in the last 3-4 rounds against Trinidad and what do you all call what Andre Dirrell did in the Stevens fight?

Tell ya what. Manny and Floyd are the same size.
Let's have Manny Pacquiao go fight Carlos Baldomir. Let's see how that goes.
dammit dios you stole the words out my mouth again!!
but yea i was gonna say that too...

Capable of making what? Excuses?
yeah right.
Capable of making excuses.
Stick to your excuses.
Meanwhile here's what Chicken Fake Floyd has to say to you his idiot fan.
"I'm not fighting to prove who's the best".
:D
That's because he doesn't have to prove it anymore, he already has. That's why every expert on the sport who makes a living discussing boxing ranks him as the #1 p4p fighter in the world. Pac will always play second fiddle to Floyd, I'm sorry that irks you.
