How do you all see the fight between Alfonso Gomez and Ben Tackie coming out next Tuesday? This should be another good test for Gomez, fighting a veteran like Tackie who's been in there with several world champs. It's been a while though since I've seen Tackie fight, what do you guys think?
And who has he fought exactly?
No offence.
Please don't say Gatti or Tackie.
Damn dude give him time. So is he just suppose to be fighting elite fighters now?
Great I hope more low level fighters get to do this.
And then people wonder why boxing is criticised.
Its people like you. No matter what a fighter do, you find the smallest thing and critize them. You are sad. I think you need to follow MMA.
He seems like a good man who is looking to make money for himself and his family, that right there is good enough me. Don't forget this guy is welter and he was fight middles on the contender, plus he's a decent boxer. I don't know if he can beat Cotto, Cintron, Mayweather (okay I KNOW he can't beat Floyd), but he'll give it his all.
P.S. boxing is criticized by boxing fans, the general public doesn't really care. Hell the average Joe would want to watch Gomez over Cintron, and they'd still be entertained.

I don't understand your point. What is he doing that's so wrong. He's moving his way up just like any other fighter tries to do. Sure, the Contender show helped him and he's taking full advantage of it. Like any fighter would.

No offence.

What do you want him to do? He's had 22 pro fights! You gotta admit, as far as the other "Contender" stars go, he's done more than any of them. With the expection of Manfredo who fought for the title against Calzahge. Still, Gomez has a win against that guy too.
He's moving up at a good pace. If he keeps it up, he could get his shot at a belt within a year or so. Maybe after 25-30 fights.
gomez is being fed names! itll be sharmba mitchell next! but cant fault him, hell climb the rankiings this way
Yeah, you can't really blame him. He's taking full advantage of his "Contender" fame. Making his money and slowly uping the quality of his opponents. He's already got a former world champ on his resume, Tackie will be a good test for him. And like you said, Sharmba Mitchell might not be too bad of a next step either! :boxing:
If he keeps it up, he could position himself for a world title shot sometime next year. I don't see him standing too much of a chance against any of the top dawgs at welter though. Cinton, Williams, Cotto, Mosely, Mayweather, Margarito!!! It's too deep of a division, but I guess he'd at least put up a good fight and give a good show!
