My god, that fight was so anti climatic. I told my friends I went to watch it with that it would be so good and action packed. 2 guys that love to trade, yadada. Then Barrera goes on his bicycle for 12 rounds with the occasional flurry. I didn't think Manny could be in a boring fight, but this was one of them. My one friend nearly fell asleep and the other one had more enjoyment playing with the pet dog than keeping his eyes on the tv. Really sucks for the most exciting fighter to be in a fight like this and lose entertainment value to those that don't really understand boxing. My friends were like, why doesn't Manny just run right at him bombing away? I'm like, it's not that easy.
whatd u guys think about steward saying barrera was matching him in terms of punches or even beating him.
and that late punch that "might have been intentional"
Emanuel Steward is Pac's most vocal critic and a bad one at that. He only sees his flaws and tries to overstate punches landed by his opponents even if they didn't have any effect on Pac at all.
That cheap punch by Marco in the 11th round was one of his plans going into the fight. I knew that he would try to fight dirty when he gets into trouble. I like MAB but he resorts to dirty tricks whenever he senses danger.
Was it just me or did Pac look more winded than usual in the corner in between rounds, especially late? I think he undertrained/wasnt as in shape as he was in the fights prior to this one and could be a reason why he wasnt as aggressive as fights before and instead paced himself. Dunno, maybe Im just clutching at straws lol...[/QUOTE
I noticed that too. I thought it was the camera man who was trying to catch his breath but the microphone was pointed at Pacman, so there could be no way it was him.
I think he was not 100% last night and this could very well because of the distraction he had before the fight and the 3 lbs he had to lose before making the weight on Friday. He must have dehydrated himself. He didn't have the usual pops in his punches. I saw after a few rounds during the fight that he was jumping up and down trying to rush some adrenalin into his system.
After Pac fought Barrera in their first fight......most fans thought he was invincible. Funny how it was also Barrera who rightfully exposed more of his weakness on their rematch. Thanks to Barrera, Guzman/and others thinks he can take on Manny. :biggthump
Actually it was, Marquez and Morales in the 1st fight, that exposed most of Manny's weaknesses. Barrera took advantage of what he saw in those fights, and used it. Quite effectively at that. Just too old to really take advantage, yet all the openings were there and brought out with Barrera's gameplan. That's why someone like Guzman, Marquez, or Soto would make for a tougher fight, because they are way more fresher than Barrera, and won't let Manny go for his mistakes. Guzman especially. He's nearly equal to Floyd in handspeed, and slick defense. He'll make Manny pay for every mistake.

I don't think Barrera was fighting to survive. I fighter fighting to survive doesn't get into exchanges with Pacman. Barrera was fighting a SMART SMART fight. He circled to his left and every time Pacman planted to throw his strait left, Barrera was gone.
Barrera fought the exact same fight he fought Naseem Hamed with. He just didn't have enough left in the tank to make Pacman pay for his mistakes.
Agreed...at first. But when it came down to MAB having to press in order to pull it out, he didn't do it.
Well, in all honesty, after downloading the fight and rewatching it, it was more entertaining than watching it with my friends. I guess they were the ones that helped drag it down moreso because with nobody cheering or getting into the fight, it seems real dull. Watching it on my own, I realize there was abit more flurries than I remembered, and some stuff I didn't even see happen at all when I watched it live. Overall, a lot better than my initial viewing, and Barrera's gameplan was clearly to survive the 12 rounds, get a big fat paycheck for his last fight, and say he went out on his last fight against the P4P best without getting KOed. To be honest, it could have been another Barrera-Juarez 2 fight, had it not been for Manny constantly trying to get in on Barrera.

I agree, it was an intense fight. Barrera completely figured out Pac in how to prevent his violent assault, but it's just that Barrera didn't do enough offensively, though he had the right game plan.
Barrera is too good, even over the hill, to get wiped out back to back by the same boxer. He adjusted to meet Pac's attack and held up better than the first time, but he simply cannot cope with Pac's speed. Pac dominated Barrera last night.
Here comes the boxing genius again. You can post all your comments against pacman, but at the end, we all know pacman defeated barrera and send him to retirement as a loser, no matter if his going to be a hall of famer. Defeat taste so bad, and to justify it, you try to hide your sorry faces to the reality. Accept it, pacman defeated barrera twice period. barrera was given a benefit of the doubt to prove himself worthy against pacman, but pacman is the better fighter (barrera even used dirty tactics but to no avail). swallow it with your sorry mouth and shut it up, pacman wins!!!
lol, I was watching Setanta too mate.
I thought I'd lose the rag if the fight cut off, but when it actually did...I didn't actually stress, which says a lot about the fight I guess.
A win is a win no matter how bad or good it is. Winning is more important than losing, if you want to be entertained then look for some other form of entertainment.

There were still some good exchanges in an otherwise average fight. The only people who are disappointed are the ones who expected both guys to go to war when that was never the case.
This fight wasn't boring.
People have just set a standard for a Pacquiao fight too high that anything less than a knockout seems boring.

You can't blames pac poor performance on Barrera. He didnt press the action enough either. Did he do more to win? Yes... but he obviously didnt leave it all in the ring either.
And Manny has had so so performances before. Lets be fair and real here.
i wonder fight were you watcing. MAB won at most 3 rounds in majority of the people who saw the "real" fight. It was evident that MAB's tactic was just to survive the fight and didn't want to engage PAC in a sustained war of agression. MAB flurried a few times but chose to back out in all of them and didn't want to get hurt. His corner's strategy was revealed when his trainer told him he won the first 3 rounds even though it was Pac who was winning at that point.
Manny tried to make the fight a slugfest, even whispering to Barrera's ears to provoke him to an all out war, and taunting him in most of the rounds but MAB obviously didn't want any piece of it. MAB was backing everytime Pac would appear to unleash his haymakers except for a very few times where he would engage Pac shortly and then backpedalled the rest of it. Pac on the other hand was clearly the aggressor and pushed the tempo of the fight but it was mainly MAB who made the fight a snoozer.
I don't blame him - Pac is one of the most dangerous fighters and finishers of his generation.
if you think that was bad, i was watching it on setanta and they lost the fight half way thru round 10 and didnt get it back till the last minute of rd 12. plus they didnt show what we missed afterwards, and they didnt describe any of it. shit fight i agree
the commentators kept saying that manny wasnt listening to freddie roach in his corner, wonder if there is a real rift, definately pac was cautious

how can you guys say barrera was running???? he did not run, he boxed actually i actually think he stood in front of pacman more than i tought he would and to me it was a draw, certanly pacman kept asking got to help him everytime he went to his corner. and he wasnt too sure he won the fight look at his reaction before and after the desicion. that is a fact
MAB did not run. He fought at a distance. And he was in front of Pacman.
A draw? In no way that fight was a draw.
God? Pac always do the cross when he fights.
Pac's reaction about the decision. Remember that Pac has never had a win by UD. Even Steward said something like that Pac fans should be worry cuz he never had a win by UD and the judges might go to MAB for the win. Even Roach was worried, that is why Roach wanted Pac to be more aggressive in the later rounds.
