You guys keep hyping him....hopefully he wont be a huge disappoitment....Buster Douglas beat the shit out of Tyson....then dissapointment set in....just a thought
Taylor is a good crude fighter but look at his record carefully most of the named fighters were cherry picked for him. HBO and his management did what good management teams do. Make their fighter lots of money with as little risk as possible. All this hype about Taylor fighting better fighters is in most situations crap. He had to fight Hopkins, no choice if he wanted the title but after that who did he fight that didn't give him an edge physically??
I can't blame him for fighting little guys for big money but come on!! having disputed wins and draws against light punching little guys hardly makes him a super champion. We'll see where Taylor goes from here. He'll either become a better fighter like Sugar Ray Leonard did after his loss to Duran or he'll just be a stepping stone for new up and comers. One thing I do know is boxing is a mental game and once you're stopped other fighters see you as beatable and no longer fear you as they used to making for harder fights. Just ask Mike Tyson how it went after Buster Douglas wooped his butt.
pac isnt a ko artist, hes a relentless pressure fighter with the fastest hands youll ever see....
a fighter known as a puncher knocking out majority of his opponents...
not a KO artist???
there is one thing that i want to say in comparison of pavlik and taylor, abotu before leading up to this fight and after.
taylor has supposedly fought the better opposition and pavlik has fought the softer opposition, which most people give the edge to taylor leading up into this fight, and although taylor did have the better names on his resume the dynamic of it all is this, taylor fought the majority of his fights against jr middleweights while he was coming up and some of those guys were good competition but taylor was walking through them. then taylor starts to step i up his competition and fights hopkins, wright, ouma, and spinks, all of which he won except the draw with wright, 3 out of the 5 fights were disputed by public opinion and the other wins were highly criticized because of his performance, to sum things up taylor has stepped up his competition but in doing so he has regressed and has started to fade and get worse.
now pavlik has been set up with guys that he was supposed to beat, guys that were there for him to get some learning experience as well as test him but they were supposed to be guys that he could beat and he did. but once pavlik started to step up his competition people started to say that he has no experience and that he wouldn't last because of the names on his resume, only thing is, pavlik has not only risen to the occasion he's done it well past anyones expectations and has won in a decisive manner each time.
my point is taylor started off good and went down, pavlik started basically from no where and went up and in doing so has gotten better and i think pavlik is the type of guy that now that he has his world championship belt i think he's the kind of guy to keep it as he's getting better each time he gets into the ring. after taylor won the belts he only got worse.
but that was what swayed me into picking pavlik logically in this fight, although i was wanting pavlik to win the fight period since the conception of the match up, but breaking it down to make a prediction and multiple money bets i had to break down the facts, i.e. what i wrote above basically.
leading into this fight taylors stock was dropping and pavliks was rising...................that was the difference between the two.
i give pavlik credit but theres no denying he is one dimensional even if he is consistent at what he is doing, he cant do much else....if taylor works on defense, he will end it in at most 3 rounds.....
Yeah!! Pavlik's one dimensional if you concider he can box and punch has great endurance to be dangerous up to the last second of the fight , be undefeated fighting and knocking out fighters Taylor ducked. If that's one dimensional I agree, Pavlik's a one dimensional fighter....Thank God!!!!

its no about his assets as a fighter his physical attributes Strength ,Enduarance ,etc its his style that is 1 dimmensional albeit successfull so far ,Taylor had virtually no defence at all and he paid the price for it
I like Pavlik cause he fight's like a undisputed middleweight champion should fight with evrything he's got ,but to be honest i cant see him holding onto his belts ,
just my opinion
Well if your comparing Pavlik at this point with previous champions I sort of agree with you about him not yet looking like a super star worl beater like say a Marvin Hagler or a Sugar Ray Leonard but in the current crop of middleweights he's stellar. I've thought the middleweight division has been soft for years and while I admire Bernard Hopkins it was one of the reasons he had so many title defenses. Can you imagine any of today middleweights trying to hold on to a title fighting the caliber of guys in the division that were around in the 70's and early 80's. For now Pavlik is the guy but his greatness is still to be determined. The mere fact he got up from the 2nd round knock down and fought the rest of the way in the manner he did really gained him alot of respect in my eyes. I see the real talent in the almost middleweight division being in the Super middleweights, Calzaghe, Kessler ect... these guts are awesome
I like both guys they bring it on. though kelly was a bit used to get hit and has solid head. one thing though kelly should upgrade his defense, he got hit a lot in the head w/c is bad in the long run. taylor on the other hand should also focus on defense(head movement a must) especially his stamina too. those acccumulated punches realy hurt him and wear him down imo.
yeah yeah yeah!!!
i love those one dimensional knock-out artist!!!
just like pac, he he ... go PAVLIK go!!

pavlik did what a puncher is supposed to 2 with 2 guys who gave him all the chances in the world to knock them out...i admire his heart and the fact that he is consistent, but he did nothing more than what he should have with that null defense from taylor....ad i was talking about his styel...his hooks and uppers are wide and he basically comes forward always throwing the one-two.....if taylor had good defense and avoided the jabs theres no way pavlik lands the straight right......again if taylor works on defense(gets mayweather sr as a trainer), he is gonna knock kelly pavlik out in 3 rounds...
Pavlik

Wladimir beat virtually every worthy top 10 opponent in the ratings so what are you talking about?
Peter
Byrd (twice)
Brock
Brewster
Mc'Cline
And hes the IBF champ and virtually recognized as the best heavyweight on this planet. What more do you want?
I was actually thinking the same thing. Maybe hes talking about another fighter.
Cos they haven't beaten anyone.

The haters on here, I swear. No matter what anyone says, Kelly is the 25 year old guy who DESTROYED the number one contender that no one wanted to face (Miranda) and then did the same thing to the undisputed champion of the world. Give the kid some credit!
I give him alot of credit and hope nothing but the best for him in the future.

Oh no dont get me wrong...I hope Pavlik can continue and become a Hall of Fame boxer....I have just seen all these posts about him and i hope he doesnt fall off his victory. I hope the best for the guy though!
Yeah, people are continuing to say this. Next thing you know they will say Taylor lost the fight for himself more than Pavlik won it.
Zertuche had never been KOd in his career and he had been in with some big punchers.
Everyone was saying Miranda was gonna rip Pavlik apart.
Taylor and Emanual Steward both said Pavlik was a C class average fighter.
1) Pavlik got off the mat in round 2 and won the very next round.
2) Lennox Lewis thought the fight was over, you can actually hear him say "That's it" while Pavlik is being knocked down.
3) I was shocked Pavlik got up from that, but he was up in like 1 second, it's true his legs were a little gone, but mentally he was all there and knew exactly what to do
4) He controlled almost the entire fight except round 2, if Taylor is so good he had plenty of time to try to make the fight go his way. But Pavlik was the one making all the good decisions.
Yeah. His KO of Miranda was erotic.
And of course Pavlik is white, so he's getting extra attention.
And he's American. Neither Klitschko ever got this kind of attention.
Unlike Douglas, Pavlik has knocked out several good fighters like Zuniga, Zertuche, Miranda and Taylor. You act like Taylor is the first big win of his career. And Douglas was NEVER a knockout artist and his win over Tyson is still the biggest upset in the history of the sport.
