Even though you call him Miguel Lowblotto it's obvious you have tons of respect for Cotto's fight game and his abilities. I don't think this fight was as easy for you to chose as you let on Addi
Miguel and I have our own relationship.
I think that's some good insight, Skils.
But even as a guy who can put myself in Miguel's corner at times - I cannot see how he'll be able to stand up to Mosley's short power shots, and ruthless counter punching. I won't even get into class, experience, and all that..
Cotto is going to make Mosley look better than he actually is.

Zab is faster than Mosley right now. Mosley has slowed since his days at 135 quite a bit. Cotto had no problems with Zab's speed.
Many people will say that Zab was only throwing one punch at a time or that he wasn't using his jab as he should've. There's a reason for that. Watch the fight again and you'll see that Zab was using his jab and he was throwing combinations EARLY. The reason he stopped was because, every time he engaged Cotto, Cotto engaged him back.
Miguel's punches are thundering. He has thick legs and can put his weight into his punches because of it. Cotto turns with his punches which gives him more power. That's why he might seem slower than he actually is. However, when you come in and throw two at Cotto, he hits you with at least one (although Cotto rarely throws one at a time and is usually firing a 3-4 punch combo). That one punch makes you think twice about coming in on Cotto again.
Cotto likes to punch as he's getting hit, something most other fighter's don't do. Cotto doesn't always cover up. He looks for a way to punish you right back and he usually does.
That's what happened to Zab and what's going to happen to Mosley.
I liked your first post better - but I understand this is a tailored response.
Anyhow, no problems with Judah's speed??? Not quite.
There were problems. Cotto had 3 scares in that fight.
But go ahead an ignore the facts.
What happened to Zab is what's going to happen to Mosley?
You are in for a rude awakening my friend. :fing02:
Cotto will pressure Mosley into submission by the 9th or 10th round. Mosley, while winning three of the first four rounds, will actually slow down considerably after the 5th, when Cotto's eariler body punches will begin to pay off.
Mosley will come out strong and will try to bring it to the Puerto Rican bull. He'll try to impose his size and his speed on Cotto, but I think that's a mistake. Mosley is not as fast as he used to be and his reflexes aren't, either. While Shane will do enough to win rounds early, Cotto will put pressure on the 36-year old fighter and, eventually, get him to show his age.
I like the youth and relentless pressure in this fight. People compare it to Leonard-Duran I but, in actuality, both fighters were in their primes then. Nobody in their right mind would consider Mosley to be in his prime. Not counting the Collazo fight, Mosley has looked just barely average against every welterweight he's fought since his first loss to Vernon. He looked sluggish against Estrada and Jose Luis Cruz, two fighters not known for their power or their speed.
Cotto is faster and hits harder than Estrada and Cruz. I also think that Mosley might be a bit overconfident after beating an over-the-hill Vargas and a one-handed Collazo (he broke his hand early, remember?).
Nope, Mosley will use every bit of experience he has early, and he'll need it. He might catch Cotto with some good, flush shots since, as we all know, power is the last thing to go; but, I think Cotto will weather the storm (he hasn't been rocked since he began to fight at 147 and seems to have a sturdier frame and chin).
Miguel Cotto TKO10 Shane Mosley.
Allow me to post the response I gave my man Undefeated in regards to all this talk coming from Cotto advocates like yourself that Mosley is old.
Undefeated expressed his frustration at the potentiality that people continue to diminish Miguel's accomplishments; "even if he beats Mosley."
Only days after the fight was announced did people start tearing down Mosley. The way folks have been talking lately - Mosley should get fitted for a hip replacement and a pace maker.
After Collazo, people were extremely high on Mosley. He was the guy who could beat Mayweather.. Mosley was back and better than ever.. Ect.
It's a small phenomena. The turnaround was sudden.
Most of these people shooting down Mosley's present state of condition are Cotto fans.. Another decent number are just working off of this blind assumption that Mosley is over the hill.
I noticed it happening - but I've heard so much of the talk I'm starting to forget myself what the truth is.
All I remember now is being pretty shocked at how fast, fluid, and explosive Mosley was in against Collazo. The HBO team was all over it. It was a good win as far as I was concerned.. Granted, it will be 9 months between Collazo and Cotto but at least we know Mosley isn't damaged. He was still slugging in the 12th.. Fully charged.
Cotto's supporters are discrediting a guy who looked pretty damn fucking good his last time out. They're going to diminish the victory of their man if Cotto comes through. Likewise, Cotto won't be much better off if grandpa Mosley spanks him silly.
The talk is lose/lose.
im gonna go out on a limb here and predict a very competitive and exciting first few rounds quickly devolving into Mosley moving backwards quickly devolving into Mosley taking a sound beating prompting a stoppage. I love Mosley but I dont think he has faced a guy like Cotto and his tenacious all out attack.
Style itself though?
Completely different.
Differences:
Pavlik likes the head, Cotto likes the body.
Pavlik is one punch KO, Cotto is accumulation.
Pavlik is conventional, Cotto is a switch hitter.
Pavlik's chin is solid, Cotto's chin is controversial.
Pavlik's best punch is the cross, Cotto's best punch is the left hook.
Pavlik is White, Cotto is shemale
LOL!!! I doubt Cotto beats Mosley. Look for Mosley to keep a jab in his face all night because the reach difference is a big factor. Mosley is ALWAYS in superb shape so I don't see him tiring. If anything it will be Cotto will be tired because unlike Judah, Mosley answers back when he gets hit. Judah went on the defensive when Cotto attacked; Mosley attacks right back & usually to the body.

Judah didn't punch in the Cotto-fight. You certainly can argue that Cotto made him cover up instead, but I highly doubt Mosley will stop punching no matter how much Cotto fires back.
Mosley is a warrior, very unlike Zab.
Cotto's power is severely overrated, though his body attack is top notch.
There's a distinct possibility that Mosley will wear out, after all he's 36, but unless that happens, Cotto is going down.
Do not forget that Mosley is one marvelous finisher...
You never seen Mosley fight?? You're opinion is now worth shit and you know nothing about boxing.
I mean, cool... there is a reason that I haven't said a word about who is going to win this fight... it's because I don't know anything about Mosley, because I have never seen him fight. I only said something about it because I was directly asked.
Shane was coming up in weight at the time of the Balco incident so he was trying to put on muscle. He hasn't needed it in a long time so I doubt if he used steroids in any other fights he's been involved in since the DLH fight. So, these accusations won't mean much for this fight, as far as I'm concerned.
As for him being smarter than Zab, :duh:
I just don't think that Mosley will be able to find a style that allows him to keep Cotto off of him for 12 rounds. If Mosley were 5 years younger then I'd pick him, but he's not going to be able to keep up the pace long enough.
I was rooting for Mosley but since I found out he took steroids I kind a want him to get that ass beat!
same here, shane is a good guy at heart, but i think he needs to be sacrifice at the altar of boxing for his mistake.
So bet with me...
Sugar shane will win this fight...
Speed and Heavy Power will stop Cotto.... Zab judah was fast and Rocked cotto a few times easily.
Shane hits harder and is a better boxer than Zab Judah.
ill go with that D, ill take 10K on cotto.
sig it up
anybody who wants to bet holla at me, I got ALL my points on Cotto against whoever can either match me or take my same risk and bet it all, by then I should have damn near 3K points so whoever wants to bet me I got Cotto as the winner, however which way I just know he's gonna win, I want to bet on this one so if there's any takers PM me.. 100
I don't want cotto to lose but I wouldnt much mind it if he did this time. He seriously needs a new trainer. Cotto made almost no adjustments to deal with judah's speed, that shit was disappointing. It shows serious lack of a pre fight game plan.
So if cotto does it, expect him to do what he always does, same way hes always done it.
Survive early if he needs to, don't be deterred, apply a consistent attack.
No one... I've never seen Shane fight.
If someone put a gun to my head, I'd pick Mosley, because I usually favor the slicksters over the swarmers/brawlers/whatever the fuck you want to call them.
He also has a major experience edge.
I'm just not impressed with Cotto altogether either.

yeah zab is faster but you have to remember that mosely is smarter. i dont think cotto will defeat mosely in the manner he did zab. you cant compare the two cause they are on different levels. mosely is too smart to put hisself in the position zab did. zab lost because of his lack of discipline and inability to adapt. Thats not the case with mosely so you cant expect to see the exact same fight come november. im not shitting on cotto. i think he has a good chance of winning i just dont see him dominating mosely the way he did judah. if anything i think if he does win it would probably be by split decision.
Cotto wil win i think shane isnt even all that good.
So bet with me...
Sugar shane will win this fight...

Shane hits harder and is a better boxer than Zab Judah.
how can you "not count the collazo fight" when that was his last fight?
The reason I'm "not counting" that fight is because he fought an injured, one-handed fighter. All Collazo was trying to do from the third round on was survive because his left hand (his dominant and power hand) was broken. That's why I don't count it. If it were an injury that was due to Mosley's punishment (i.e. a cut caused by a punch or a legitimate KD), then I'd count the fight. However, this was not an injury attributable to Mosley and Collazo's actions the rest of the fight were merely for survival; he wasn't trying to beat Shane, he was just trying not to get hit and KO'd.
Hope that makes sense.
