Jermaine Taylor HIMSELF isnt even complaining about the outcome and stoppage of the fight? I keep reading about how the stoppage wasnt fair, and how Smoger shouldve gave him a count to see if he got up. Plain and simple, the boy was slumped over with his hands down in the corner like a beaten mule. I could understand if JT got up immediately after the Knock down and protested the stoppage, but he didnt. He stood on the floor for 3-5 minutes after being ko'd.
I was supporting Taylor and i agree it should have been stopped so he can come back and fight another day instead. The ref was good as if he was a dumbshit and Taylor did make the ten i wouldn't be surprised if taylor would've got hurt bad. A couple of warm up matches for taylor to get his confidence back and then we should get a rematch if Pavlik is still doing his thing.
JT was out, he then took an additional three punches including a hard left that you see JT's head bobble back and forth. Smoger did a great fight. He saw how quickly Pavlik stood up and realized he wasn't hurt enough warranting the stoppage.
Yeah but why dont the referee stand there and give him a full count to ten. I could barely see JT and what condition he was in. Like the ref is scared people will have a go at him for not stopping it earlier enough.
yeah but unfortunately it didnt happen that way. i wish the fight would have went on but like i said earlier shit happens.
How would it have gone on when Taylor was chilling in that corner like a sack of potatos?? This is not the movie 'weekend at Bernies', we can not take a KO'd Taylor and make a puppet out of him so the fight can go on lol.
I read a quote from an article that Smoger gave concerning the stoppage and it went something like "He was a dead heap in the corner...I could've counted to 50". Taylor got iced, I don't know how anyone could complain about that stoppage.

This last line had me cracking up! :haha:
I really didn't see JT recovering from the assault in the 7th. Even if he did get up he would have been out on his feet and would have been subjected to serious damage...it was a good stoppage.
I don't think it was pride. I think he just got rocked and didn't even think to take a knee. He just tried to cover up. When you get hit with a punch like that, it's hard to think of things like that.
He might have made it out of the round had he taken a knee. Imagine how much more dramatic the fight would have been if JT had eeked through the round like Pavlik did in the 2nd.:boxing:
That would have been amazing.

I think the ref stopped it a bit premature. I think we missed the excitement of JT trying to get up. That is entertaining in itself. Look at the breakdance Trevor Berbick did against Tyson when he tried to get up off the flr. We might have missed some breakdancing from JT that would rival Berbick or PBFs move in come dancing with the stars.
A bit anti climatic it seemed that is all im saying. The ref crowded the camerman and didnt give JT breathing space. JT might have seen the ref stopped it so didnt bother to try and get up.
can Taylor evolve .... limit his flaws .. better conditioning
maybe this loss was a "good thing" granted losing your first fight is never good .. especially a championship one, and by knockout.
sometimes you need a loss to get better. especially if Taylor does go back to the gym and train harder like niceguy says .. but its not just about work ethic
Jermain's seriously gonna have to fine tune his game. Gassing out in the 2nd round after throwing 75 punches (said in compubox article) .. is absolutly pathetic.
to quote that article "how can a 29-yr-old champion and acknowledged excellent athlete, seemingly in his prime, gas after throwing 75 punches in three minutes?"
so sure he can train hard .. but he has to clean up his conditioning and overall fundamentals (Pavlik was clobbering him with the right hand with EASE)
its gonna take more then just hard work .. see my title
because Kelly Pavlik is a winnable fight for JT .. hell sure Taylor wound up on his ass
but he wasn't at all getting his ass kicked on a consistant basis .. and the only 10-8 round was his.
for getting TKO'd in the 7th round he actually did pretty good.
He was'nt thinking clear enough too take a knee. Taylor has never been hit in the face with that kinda power. He was in shock when he stumbled into the corner.
There were a lot of things he could have done that he did'nt do. Like...ANYTHING.
But he did'nt because he was completely stunned and acting on instinct.
But he is a professional, his instinct should have been to take a knee. I know when I get woozy, I just don't fall to the ground, I drop my knees then fall instinctively. His instincts should have said, take a knee!
It's because JT's fans are PUNKS, just man up and admit that your boy got humiliated and KTFO:banana:
STFU I accepted his lost and he lost to the better man, so how dare you call JT's fan base some punks you f.ag. Dont slang insults around without being able to accept insults back. Quit sucking Pavlik and Wlad dick so much.:blowjob:
Taylor should have a took a knee and tried to regroup. It was a good stoppage, he ws getting hit clean and not throwing back. It had to be stopped.
that what i was thinking but i guess taylor had too much pride to take a knee.
taylor got KOd and he was in a daze and couldnt answer the ref, nothing to complain about and no premature stoppage. taylor fought his heart out and fought well, but pavlik imposed his will and dominate. JT doesnt need to be embarassed or critcized he was the champ and he got beat. i think now he will regroup and come back STRONG as a super middleweight maybe. JT isnt done by far...
pavlik is the man by the way. i knew he was gonna win when they first signed on to fight...
like i said before, this is a wake-up call for taylor that's all, he did lose he will go back to the gym, get himself back on track, he had alot of pressure for all the things that he said
Man this is what happened. Taylor was getting pounded on without even fighting back. that right there is good enough reason to stop the fight. and the eight count your glove has to touch the canvas before that happened. it didnt so how can the ref count. im actually a taylor fan but im realistic enough to realize that the fight was stopped fairly. and your right if taylor and his corner themselves didnt complain then why worry about it. even the commentators didnt complain. it was a legit stoppage. i wish jermain didnt lose but hey shit happens. taylor fans including myself need to move on and just hope he bounces back and avenges his loss.

wow, what a well thought out, subjective, and articulate response.
no one got humiliated in this fight. if anything, both guys cemented themselves as exciting fighters that will be exciting for years to come. i wish taylor would have fought a couple right handers in some tune ups before getting in with a friggin monster like pavlik. pavlik does not look like he packs much pop, but no one will ever think that again.
