Lotta people talking about the fight. Many second guessing Taylor.
It should be obvious to everyone who actually watched the fight that beating pavlik will hinge on one thing.
Watch the fight closely. Pavlik's flaw is that he almost always never comes back with the left hook. That said there were times when Taylor launched a flurry after covering for the incomming right cross from pavlik. When he did so, he exposed pavlik's real weakness. If manyy was worth two shits he would have seen it and told Taylor to lure Pavlik in for the right and flurry off it.
Watch the fight. Know the truth of the fistic genius i am!
taylor exposed???? as a guy who has no defense, yes, but he took pavliks punches well, showed power, speed and heart....he did great too... you're a tool...
I didn't say that he didn't take some shots well, I said it was gonna eventually catch up to him, and it did. I also gave Taylor credit for knocking Pavlik down. All I am saying is people need to stop making exuses and give Pavlik credit for winning, so before you open your mouth read the whole post, and i really don't give a fuck what you think.
thats fuckind defensive basics......cant believe taylor couldnt even do that, his crappy defense cost him the fight..... i still like him though.....hope he bounces back...
I second that motion. I agree, Jermain would get him back in the rematch. This time I am more than confident that he would correct his mistakes and come up with the victory. For the exception of that costly mistake, I had him winning the fight and believed he was well on his way to becoming victorious.
Who's bigger?
chad, but his chinhas been cracked some times....thats why i give pavlik a small chance but chad would fucking kill him if pavlik doesnt land that one big shot...and im pretty sure he wouldnt...
I have said all along that Taylor was overrated and he finally got exposed. There is a reason that his people didn't want him facing a big middleweight that had power and it showed. Stop making excusues and saying that Taylor should have don this or should have done that. The bottom line is he didn't do what it took to win and the better man won. Give Pavlike credit for showing heart and getting up and knocking Taylor the fuck out. The same would happen in a rematch. Stop making excuses. All I have heard is people making excuses for Taylor in lackluster performances and it finally caught up with him. He fought better but and I give him som credit for putting Pvlik down but in the long run it caughtup with him andas I have been saying he wouldn't be able to withstand Pavliks power. Pavlik won, get over it.

that would be a fucking massacre.....scary....bad chad would whop him so bad....pavlik has a punchers chance, though...
Finally someone gets it right!!
Good K to you!
(whoops won't let me) I'll get it to you soon.

That would have been very ideal, but Taylor lacked the legs and stamina to circle for 12 rounds. He slowed down just enough to get caught by Pavlik's right hand. However, it would have been a good idea on his part to have kept his right hand up to block the Pavlik jab.

convo started good, ended with a lot of Pavlik criticizing based on nothing.
Taylor hit Pavlik with a pretty much perfect combo and didnt KO him, Pavlik returned the favor and did. End of story.
Taylor had ungodly connect ratings and power shot landings. It was power vs power and apparently Pavlik has more, even though it seemed like Taylor did through most of the fight.
one of the many ways to beat kelly pavlik is to do what jermain taylor did saturday, but with your fucking right hand up and more circling to the left....

Pavliks defense is solid. I cant emphasize this fact enough.
To an extent, I partly agree with you. Pavlik is very good in parrying punches, especially jabs from his opponents on the outside. However, when his much smaller opponents are within his punching range, his defense is somewhat compromised. Taylor tagged him with a left jab, right cross combo that started the knockdown and nearly stopped him. The same as Miranda, he caught Pavlik flush with several looping overhand rights in their bout as well. So to say that Pavlik's defense is solid is pretty much suspect.

As much as I hate to admit it, Hopkins would find the blueprint to beat Pavlik. Only at 168 though, where he can be more active. His shoulder roll/counter style is perfect for a guy like Pavlik.
Disagree. Pavlik's punches are not slow. His footwork is slow. He's plodding but relentless. Secondly, Pavlik has a very good defense. Third, Taylor couldn't deal with the Pavlik jab. Taylor was game, but had a totally screwed gameplan. He had no chance, but a puncher's chance (hence the second round). Steward needs to be replaced for the rematch.
Pavlik's punches are a lot slower than Taylor's. There was not a single sequence in the fight before the stoppage that Pavlik ever put his punches in bunches against Jermain Taylor. For much of the fight, Taylor was slipping his right hands.
I still say that Taylor's tactical error in this bout was when he let up the intensity against Pavlik and began to try to outbox him. Therefore, I agree with your assessment that Taylor couldn't deal with the Pavlik jab. This was a grave mistake because Pavlik's best punch of the night was his jab. He surprised me with his ability to match Taylor's jab.
This is how he ran into those big right hands that eventually stopped the fight. Pavlik is just to big to outbox and outmaneuver. You have to find away of trying to neutralize his physical advantages of height, reach and size. You can only do this by fighting in the inside and constantly throwing and landing combinations. Just as Taylor had followed this blueprint in round 2.
I said the same thing, Pavlik couldn't handle a good flurry so that would be key to getting a victory against him.
Did you just say that? JT hit Pav w/like 30+ unanswered hard ass shots in the 2nd...
Who the fuck else could do that? Nobody...Pav will crush the enemies, see them be driven before him, and hear the lamentation of the woman.
You need a boxing phenom PBF type to beat Pavlik. Hes gonna reign for a long time. You cant fucking hurt the guy w/out throwing the kitchen sink @ him...and the roof...and the front stairs...and the car.
Anyone thats dissin Pavlik is little bitches that cant stand it that their homie got KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT!!! Someone else said something to the effect like...nvr mind.
Pavlik.Calzaghe provided Kessler dont win. Pavlik will give Calzagay the Jimmy Doyle treatment.
I agree Pavlik has a high workrate but his punches are very slow. Taylor has much faster hands than Pavlik and was getting the better of the exchanges, whenever he decided to release his combination punches. This is what eventually knocked Pavlik down and nearly knocked him out.
From that point on, Taylor should have stalked him like there was no tomorrow, in hopes of connecting with his superior hand speed and accuracy again to possibly stop Pavlik.
Pretty much as in the same vein as Leonard did Hearns in their first bout in 1981. Once Leonard found out that he could hurt Hearns he stalked him the balance of the fight until he eventually caught and stopped him.
