I thought JT was in great shape and looked fast and powerful. As a matter of fact I had him up 4-2 or maybe 3-3 if I wanted to stretch it. I was more impressed with him in this fight than in any other so far. I knew he aint have no chin so for him to last 7 rounds while being hit was a good showing IMOP. I dont see how someone who has been in 4-5 big fights can come in so nervous against a challenger like KP who aint never been in a big fight. He did waste a lot of energy by his nervousness but his lack of knowledge of what to do when he was hurt, cost him this fight. KP knew to hold when he was hurt. JT never attempted once to hold Kelly when he was hurt and that was his big down fall.
Yeah but Taylor really never had time to hold Kelly. He was pinned against the ropes and hurt very badly. Kelly on the other hand hit the deck and had a count to collect himself. I've seen Taylor hold before when he was hurt. This time it just didn't happen.
Taylor's chin is decent I would say. We all know Pavlik is a big puncher.
Taylor trained as hard as could be asked, but the weight issue is affecting him. The man is clearly to big to be at 160. I weigh 150 lbs walking around with hardly any body fat. Taylor may win at 168. We'll see.
Yes. It wasn't lack of preparation that done him in. It was getting caught against the ropes, the one thing he vowed not to do. He didn't seem too willing to get up either, maybe that's a bit harsh but he seemed resigned to his fate without even attempting to get back on his feet.
The fight was stopped before he went down, so what are you talking about.

JT was in great shape and by far the most athletic man in the ring, but the great thing about boxing is that athletic ability sometimes don't mean shit and that was the case in this fight. Pavlik had the heart to recover from a bad 2nd round and then the power to finish off Jermain in the seventh. Pavlik seems like one of those guys that could be outboxed pretty easily, but he always applies pressure and comes with very accurate punches and with his power it's only a matter of time before he puts people down.
Him being in his best shape and him being in THE BEST shape are two different things. He had Kelly hurt in the second round and HE ended up initiating a clinch during the end of the round because he was tired, that should tell you something.
