This is why I picked Pavlik. Taylor is too easy to hit. I knew he couldn't keep Pavlik off of him the whole fight without taking some serious punishment. Remember everyone Hopkins almost had him out late in both fights. But Hopkins just couldn't finish him off. With that said I do feel sorry for Jermaine.
i give huge credit for pavlik to come back from that kd in round 2.
i just dun know why taylor didnt finish him wen he had the chance. but also give taylor credit for putting a good fight. but wen taylor lost, i was soo shocked, it nearly made me cry. seein him fuked up was just soo bad.
I am very impressed with Pavlik's punching power. They never look to have that much hurt in them, but when it lands, it hurts.
But I am more impressed with his chin. After the kd, he was hit with more shots to the head and chin but he stood his ground taking those big shots.
Im really happy Pavlik won , I was rooting for him but i thought he was done for in the 2nd round. I had the fight dead even until the stoppage. One thing i noticed about Taylor is that he sometimes goes into this kind of shell and just stops throwing punches. It looks like he has some kind of mental block when this happens. I forget what round it was but he went into that shell momentarily before snapping out of it.
If I'm honest I haven't seen Pavlik that often but what I have seen is that although he may be limited in the skills department he is extremely strong, fit, determined and motivated.
Again from what I have seen he seems to rely on work rate behind stiff jabs and straight right hands but it is extremely effective and due to his power it keeps the watcher on the edge of his seat.
Whats nice is to see is a fighter who wants to take a title rather than nick it.
Pavlik could hold the belts for some time. Taylor will obviously have a say in this but will have to be at the top of his game to take back the belts.
I was very impressed by him. I picked him to win but was unsure of my pick.
Thought it was going to end in round 2 but Taylor punched himself out and couldn't keep the pressure on (which is a good excuse for that round, but can't explain why he lost the fight 5 rounds later). The coming back from near certain defeat is what really impresses me about Pavlik. It showed a lot of heart and he recovered confidence in the next round like a champ.
That being said, I worry that he may be too predictable. I guess if you're mainly going to throw two punches though, it should be the "1, 2."
Respect to everyone who picked Pavlik.
He did exactly what his people expected him to do.
I think Jermain Taylor deserves an assist for making it so easy for Kelly Pavlik at the end though. Taylor gave that stoppage to Pavlik.
He was a sitting duck - and I personally called it when it was going on. Even when Pavlik got knocked down I believed Taylor was going to be in trouble. I literally stated that Pavlik could come back and knock Taylor out.
Again, credit to those who picked Pavlik. These fighters are our horses, and the Pavlik horse beat the field. I like that pick.
I'm also thrilled for Pavlik, his family, his fans, and the sport.
Taylor didn't deserve to be there - and I was disgusted well before it got stopped.
Everybody sees something different.
Taylor gave Pavlik the opportunity to knock him out repeatedly before Kelly actually did the deed.
Jermain stood there and let Pavlik knock him the fuck out.
If Jermain Taylor cannot avoid getting hit no matter what - he should have never fought Kelly Pavlik.
You dispute his great victory over Jermain Taylor?
If there's a rematch, Taylor will not be so willing to trade with Pavlik. He'll try and stay outside, work the jab, and win it with ring generalship and boxing skills. The problem is that the Taylor jab cannot beat the Pavlik jab. Consequently, the prospect of knocking out Pavlik with "that one good punch" will be diminished and Pavlik will in all likelihood win again.
I think Pavlik did pretty darn good.
It helped Pavlik CONSIDERABLY that Jermain Taylor fought like a fucking moron and kept his lead hand below his dick 98% of the time. Taylor put on one of the most retarded displays I can ever remember witnessing at this level. What Taylor did in allowing Pavlik to predictably load up was akin to laying down in the railroad tracks.
I'll give Jermain consideration by assuming Pavlik hurt him to the body and that's why Taylor was standing there waiting for the MACK TRUCK to run his ass the fuck over. :killyou:
I thought Pavlik woulda beat Taylor by more if he didnt drop his hands.
He got caught with a stupid punch and it NEARLY cost him his entire reputation and everything.
BUT, how could anyone NOT love a guy coming back from CERTAIN DEFEAT, to stop his man a few rounds later?
