Pavlik v.s. Taylor Rematch

I don't know about the rematch being made immediatly.. I think Taylor should have a tune up fight and Pavlik should fight another champ but i would LOVE to see them fight again!! :boxing:

Agreed. But I've noticed many of them are Pavlik nuthuggers. They wouldn't want to see him have to face an opponent who could come close to knocking him out again. This fight proved that Pav's chin is fragile and that he can barely handle fast, evasive and precise punchers. Jermain had the speed that Pav couldnt handle but his accuracy and judgement deminished quickly after nearly bodying Pav. Taylor did everything right at the beginning, getting off the ropes and taking it back to the center where he could open up with power shots that were just too wild. :puppy_dog

Hopefully we have another great matchup with Taylor winning and than we can have an oh so great trilogy.

Im not sure about IMMEDIATE rematch, but definatly a rematch in the near future. Both put in a great display. Either man could of one. Basically Taylor desrves a rematch on the fact he almost had Palvic out in the 2nd, and fought well until he got KO'd.

i say a rematch IS called for due to the fact both fighters showed they CAN beat the other... they had each other hurt and knocked down (well taylor go knocked up but you know what i mean). it was a close tough fight the first time and who knows who could win the second...it could be pavlik or it could be taylor... if taylor DID win it would turn into an AMAZING trilogy for sure. it could very well turn into something as great as gatti/ward... but taylor would have to win... i cant really say who will win a rematch its like deciding ahead of time who would win corrales/castillo II after seeing the first one where each had their moments of greatness... i think taylor and pavlik should have a tune-up fight first before fighting each other again. and to those here who think taylor shouldnt work with manny anymore is crazy. Manny knows his stuff and to my surprise he had taylor actually looking good in a dominately offensive minded fight. when taylor was the aggressor and using his jab and not allowing kelly to set his feet he was doing great and knocked pavlik down...indeed he looked like he had like about 10 cups of coffee before the fight but he was winning... when he went on the defense he was losing... so maybe thats the key to beat pavlik...use your jab...get inside of good combos...get back outside...work the jab more to keep him away...dont let him get set... that was working well for taylor in the first few rounds... sure was... what happened?

Credit that loss to Taylor taking his foot off the gas and Manny Steward for a terrible gameplan. Why try outboxing the guy when you can clearly knock him out? yeah pav's chin cracked like an egg shell. taylor tried to press on and finish the job but was too anxious and inaccuracy lost the fight for him. When Pav nearly got bodied you could see what his thoughts were "I'm gonna get fuckin decked". Taylor could have done it.

I'm pretty sure the guys voting No are the ones who picked Pavlik and realize he escaped what should have been an easy knockout win for Taylor.

I just want to see Jermain in the ring again. Seeing him crumpled in the corner really made me sad. Even though I think Pavlikis a great champ too.

nah, its a KO win, lets move on to Abraham vs Pavlik and Miranda vs Taylor

we know now that pav's chin is mediocre . taylor lost because he wasnt on target and too anxious to get a KO after pav went down the first time, missing shots that could have put pav out for a whole fuckin minute. all taylor needs to do in a rematch is to place his shots better and press pav with more jabs and accurate power shots. his best shots hit the air while pav kept tagging taylor because he left himself open so much with innaccurate and badly timed shots.

there will be a rematch cause there is a clause in the contract. the thing is the rematch will be at 168 which means it would be grudge instead for the championship. either way i know the rematch will be very exciting and cant wait to see it. most likely it will happen early next year. that would be a good fight to kick off the new year.

I don't think Taylor's people should put him in again with Pavlik right away. Let him have a tune-up, gain some confidence, and then have a rematch. If he got brutally KO'd again by Kelly in a few months his career could be ruined. What career options does he have if he wants to remain a big time fighter? He wont find much good harbor at 168 and he already has the rematch clause with Pavlik.

I think that was Taylor's best chance. Pavlik won't get caught again and it won't be as close again next time.

Great fight and I'd certainly watch a rematch as it would be brutal. This however doesn't mean there should be a rematch as IMO Taylor would lose by KO and possibly get hurt very badly.

Maybe I'm crazy or blind. But Taylor was not up by three points. You could argue a point. But that fight was close. And Kelly was comin. I don't want to see a rematch. I don't really like Jermaine, but he's a nice guy really. And I don't want to see him get KOed again. I knew he was going to lose. His defense is bad. If he had any D he could have went 12 and gotten the gift that was already in process. Jermain needs to fight anyone else. But juts not Pavlik. Kelly already took Jermaine's best shot. And Jermaine couldn't take the landslide of flush shots Kelly was landing.
