Should he go for the rematch? Take some time off? Fight a few bums then go after any of the belts?????
I personally think he should take some time off because this lose is going to affect psychologically for a long time...
He's not staying at 160. I don't think he can really make the weight well anymore. He has matches at 168 or he can fight a rematch. Unless Jermain does something unbelievable he'll lose again.
That would help nata...he needs to go train
You have to wonder what something like this might do to his confidence. Hope this doesn't turn out to be like what happened to Judah after the Tszyu fight.
If he takes a rematch, he'll get taken out even faster next time. Pavlik took his psyche away from him in this fight and next time around it'll be even easier so I think he should try and move up to 168 and make some noise there.

I would think a long vaction with atleast three high class hookers!
He will be back in top shape!
Jermain Taylor didn't even weigh 168 on the unofficial scales on the night of the fight...166 lbs. There are no reasonable excuses for him in this fight. Tell him to hit the yellow brick road and find the Wizard of Oz...he never had nor will have a champions heart. At least he got himself some crumbs from Dibella's and HBO's pie.
Fight an opponent, retire. He was never convincing as a champion, let him keep his dignity.
Ha ha! The cynic in me agrees with your statement completely. I have a bit more respect for Taylor tonight, but I also feel so justified for my previous opinions. Mostly that he was more hype with a promise of greater things to come, but that would never happen in reality when he fought his first middleweight since being installed as champion.
maybe fight miranda.
That would be a great fight! The timing seems perfect and they still have some bad blood that can be used to promote the fight too.
The recovery for Taylor is now mental he already witnessed his first knockdown loss thats going to happen to every fighter its just the point to as if hes going to put it behind me or stick to his head and get rid of Steward they are not made for each other he should go back to Burns or his amateur trainer the rematch is set thats no doubt but its just the matter of how hes going to rebound i said earlier that hes done but thinking about it i dont think he is or he could be look at Jaidon from the contender he got rocked by Green and is rebounding nicely.so far i have a feeling 2008 is going to be a good year
Pavlik definitely has more than just power, but his physical tools (height, length, etc.) are his main gifts. These are things that give him an advantage. If Pavlik was 5'10'' he'd be a very different guy.
But he's not. And damn, are we lucky to get to see him.
hitman .. Taylor didn't use dehydration as excuse .. not yet at least
**we'll see how everything unfolds .. I dunno why people on here are talking about 160 rematch
the contract said 168 rematch if Taylor loses
and thats honestly why I leaned more toward Pavlik.
who knows .. there's still Kessler/Calzaghe in November
+but I would think a Taylor/Pavlik rematch would be more marketable than Kessler/Calzaghe winner vs Pavlik .. just my take on it
well for the sake of clarification i dont think he is "as done" as reid, i just couldnt think of another relevant comparison, but i cannot agree that a rubber match would be pick em...
pavlik was caught by "dumb shit" in the second and i dont think he lost more than 3 or 4 minutes of the fight aside from that 2nd round.... but really if pavlik doesent stick his chin out like mayorga he would have just taken the fight over much sooner imo.
i also dont think its fair to assume somebody has the resiliency to comeback from a defeat same as castillo. castillo is much tougher mentally imo, i never ever thought taylor sounded truly confident in the lead up to this fight and he sure as shit wont be confident the second time around after hitting pavlik with everything he had and losing anyhow.
I realize you're a Pavlik fan.
And I'm not really the biggest fan of Taylor..........but we don't see eye to eye on how these two match up...............
I view it as Marquez v.s. Vasquez,Castillo v.s. Corrales, Pavlik v.s. Taylor.
These kinds of rubbermatches between excellent fighters can go both ways. And my point was I wouldn't write Taylor off that quickly.
IF HE WON HE WAS THE BETTER FIGHTER.WTF
Yeah better fighter...............earlier tonight.

It's not an empty excuse if it is a fact. Either way no one can know for sure if he would win at 168, because Pavlik is just a hard hitter. But we won't have every little question cleared up until they fight one more time, at a higher weight.
All Kelly can do is hit hard? That's what I thought from the Miranda fight to yesterday... now:
No dice.
He showed some damn good boxing skills tonight IMO.
weight drained or not .. Taylor can crack
that 2nd round was wow. rediculous snap on his punches.
but I was picking Pavlik to win
people saying he's over rated etc ... if you saw Zertuche, Miranda .. don't look at the names .. and say well so and so was over rated .. no shit Pavlik would win
look at the results. Kelly Pavlik is one tough SOB .. and will be hard to take down at any weight .. 160 or 168.
thats what made the fight so good. would you really expect Pavlik to come back like that and get a 7th round Kayo .. after getting dropped in the 2nd round?

I hope the rematch is at 160. Then we will see if Taylor is the real deal. The man beat B-Hop twice, Pavlik must defend the titles against Taylor next.
That's what happens when a fighter is in good shape. Fighters who train very hard AND dehydrate themselves can make amazing weights. Ask Roy Jones, or Jose Luis Castillo for that matter.
if taylor uses dehydration as an excuse i will lose a lot of respect for him. the fight was right there for him and he couldnt get the job done, plain and simple.
Good question. At 168 who knows what will happen? I picked Taylor to win this time but I was scared for sure. There is no telling who will the second time in my opinion, even with the fight being at 168 or whatever.
if taylor were struggling so hard he wouldnt have come in a whole pound under the limit... i see pavlik taking better advantage of the 8 pounds anyways

as big a Middle as Taylor is ... Pavlik is taller then him
yeah I know moving up for Taylor was inevitable.... but still .. I guaruntee you
people reading articles about Pavlik-Taylor
the words rematch clause at 168 WILL no doubt come up
and the casual observer will say .. hey if this fight was at 168 .. and Taylor has trouble making 160 he coulda been weight drained
but what will happen at 168 ... Taylor's stamina is better and he capitalises and gets the kayo... or Pavlik withstands all his shots and gets the kayo again?
